In the setup shown in the screenshot, copper golems will open both the copper chest, and the transfer chest to the left for a undetermined and seemingly random period of time. The copper golem will suddenly stop trying to open either chest, as though its pathfinding stopped. The copper golem will just freeze in place. if you break the top slab above the chests, the golem will start back up again. This also happens with trap doors, did not test other blocks that can be put above the chest but still allow it to open.
To replicate
1. Setup a copper chest and normal chest with a 1 block gap, setup a small hallway for the golem to walk down, and put a top slab above the chests
2. Fill the copper chest up, and watch the golem transfer items
3. After a period of time, the golem will stop in place, until you break the top slab over the chest it looks like it was trying to get to.

I made another bug report while this one was closed. MCPE-231464
Punching the copper golem or hitting with a snowball (egg or enderpearl probably work as well) will make it work again. I made a video too:
