Pistons will not stack in inventory when placed, causing loss of resources during creation

When creating pistons on a crafting table, selecting the piston and attempting to place the item in your inventory with existing pistons, the count of pistons in inventory increases briefly, then decreases and returns it to your hand. if shift+click is used, the resources for creating the pistons are used up, but no pistons are added to the inventory.

We were unable to reproduce the problem you are describing in the latest version. Do you have any more information? For example, Is this occurring in single player worlds? If so, is it occurring after connecting to an external server?

This is occurring on a Realms multiplayer server. I will attempt to record the instance later today.

I had this problem with my converted Xbox One world. Had 10 simple and 2-3 sticky pistons and from the old xbox one edition times. When I tried to craft them to sticky pistons I lost all the materials and got nothing. After I used all of my old simple and sticky pistons now I can craft new ones.

I have had a somewhat similar problem on realms (PC - Windows 10), but have not been able to recreate it outside of realms. I currently have three stacks of pistons. A single piston, a stack of 12 pistons and a stack of 28 pistons. None of these three stacks will combine with any of the others. You can split a stack up and use them, but they will only ever return to their original stack. I have never lost any materials while crafting pistons. Come to think of it, the only reason I can think of that may have caused this is that I created them at different times (once during each of the last three updates, I believe).

I have the stacking issue on Realms on Xbox. This is a world that was created in Bedrock. Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eRvVmGpnHA

These two pistons were created at different times. Creating a new piston with a piston created in a previous version will briefly have the count increased as stated above with the resources used to create the piston disappearing along with the piston. Removing the old piston from your inventory will allow new pistons to be created. Bringing the old piston in to your inventory will not stack with the new piston. The new piston was created in 1.2.3

I can record a video of the piston creation issue if that will help

With ample space in my inventory, I placed 13 pistons and 13 slime into the crafting table. I shift-clicked the craft icon. The materials disappeared, and no sticky pistons were made.
Instead of crafting, all times involved disappeared.

Are you able to upload a copy of the world for us to investigate please?

After further testing I can confirm this issue.

I am having the same issue on Xbox one realms. Crafting a piston will use resources but the pistons themselves will not be created resulting in a complete loss of resources. Other issues on this forum have been referred to this thread. Any update on this issue and or a resolution?

Have also seen where brown mushrooms will not stack. Some may have been single mined ones while others were drops from chopping up a giant brown mushroom, can't tell now I turned them all into fermented spider eyes.
