Mineshafts generate by overlapping each other.

Dear Mojang,

I have tested many seeds and I discovered that in all of them the mineshafts generate within eachother.

This means that exploring mineshafts can be a lot more difficult than intentional. They sometimes look like they will never end as well.

But thats not the only or the biggest problem with this bug.

My biggest problem is that all the placements of the mineshafts can be completely random on each seed because they aren't spread out anymore.

This means that at some seeds they are really close a spawn, while on others they can very far away.

I won't be able to find any mineshafts in all survival worlds because of this bug.

Please take a look at my screenshots I have send you, and test some seeds out in your game yourself to find proof of this problem.

It seems to be fixed in 1.11, yay ^^

Update: The bug is even worse than I thought. I found out that on all the seeds there is only 1 place where all the mineshafts are.

I have traveled all around the map on different seeds and used the /locate command. The location doesn't change no matter how far I am.

This would explain why I am yet to find a mineshaft in any of our maps Even after 100's of hours.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue works as intended.

Your screenshots tell me two things:
1. You are finding mineshafts where one tunnel intersects another at a different level. This is normal, and is caused by the unevenness of the floor levels in a cave.
2. You are using commands to find abandoned mineshafts, and very likely to teleport to distant places in order to find new ones. There is something you need to understand why this doesn't work: Abandoned mineshafts aren't pre-generated throughout the world. They are only generated when you get within about 64 blocks of the chunk they will be generated in. So when you teleport a long distance, unless you happen to land in a chunk near where a mine will eventually be generated, no mines will have been generated near you yet. You need to explore the area around where you land first, to cause any mines to be generated. After that the /locate command will be able to tell you where they are.

Also, be advised that abandoned mineshafts are not as easily found in Bedrock as they were in the smaller worlds of Console Edition. If you explored 10 deep caves fully, you might find one mineshaft on average.

Thank you for your information. I have used that information to explore a bit more in a new seed.

I decided to explore and this time use the maximun scale of the map to explore more before I use the command /locate.
But even after exploring the big map, the /locate command didn't change at all.

I have made 4 screenshots of my exploration and 1 screenshot from the only mineshaft found on this world to prove that this bug is present.

Also, I have never played console I only played java-editon before and older versions of the bedrock edtion (or windows 10 beta) and beofoe the mineshafts worked there quite well.

Update:

Found in another seed a great example of mixed mineshafts

I feel that I should point out the sheer scale of this bug with this picture. As you can see, there does not seem to be any sort of attempt to patch this bug since Mineshafts are still spawning at an unbelievable rate and may severely stress older/weaker devices that are trying to run this game.

To recreate my view to see if progress is made in the future, use the seed 1432516089, download and use this xray texture pack: http://www.mediafire.com/file/o817ikkwtf2aocr/XrayForSeeders.mcpack/file, then go to  1328 100 -628, and drink a night vision potion. You should be able to see all those mineshafts easily with your render distance turned up very high. This should  serve as a nice baseline to see if the bug has been patched.

Edit: adjusted picture to not be massive in comment. Sorry I forgot to rename the picture to something more easily identifiable than Screenshot (102).png

There are actually infinite diagonal patterns of mineshafts (that are the same). Example: The mineshaft at -300 ~ 300 on seed -1536859279 (or -1536859280 or any other seed) is the same mineshaft as the one at -1000000 ~ 1000000 on the same seed.

See https://youtu.be/J90a8-WUK8c?t=986 and https://chunkbase.com/apps/mineshaft-finder#-1536859280 (set version in dropdown to "Bedrock Edition - Minecraft")

This bug is fixed in the latest beta version, and the fix will be included in a future update when that is ready for full release (no specific date can be given). We will leave this ticket open as a point of reference until the fix has been fully released.

It seems to be fixed in 1.11. I've tested many world and all of them have normal Mineshafts. They are all pretty close to spawn too.

Thank you Mojang for fixing this bug. ^^
