Guardian Spawning heavily reduced/gone in Aquatic update

Minecraft Pe is a great game where the only limit is you imagination, unless you faced with server spawning issues.

I am talking in particularly the guardian farming. The way the guardians spawn in Minecraft PE is killing my gameplay experience. I have spent over 20 hours of my life I will never get back, trying out EVERY SINGLE DESIGN I COULD THINK/ saw on YouTube for A guardian spawner! It's simple not feasible! There something wrong with the guardian spawning rates, T first they work for about 5 minutes and then they completely stop! I constantly have to keep switching from peaceful mode to easy mode to restart the spawning phase. It's not fair to me or any other players who have invested so much time into this farm, only for it to be stopped by these mechanics!

I am also confused as to why guardian only seem to spawn in the corners of temple, instead of the actual middle compared to other versions of Minecraft? After testin this is other worlds, I confirmed this to be true. That is why I have built both spawners in the middle and in the corners.

Could you make a easier way for players to obtain sea lantern like through trading by villagers? This modification would improve my experience drastically.

The was a radical change between 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 as far as I could tell. I was at a monument in 1.4.1 and the amount of fish that were killed by the guardians meant I picked up a lot of fish and bones - a great source. I was at a monument in 1.4.2 and the results were almost nil.. very few guardians to kill the fish - which may have also had their spawn rate reduced. So you are not wrong..

So are you saying that in the upcoming future update, guardian spawning should work normally again, meaning that the big spawner in the center of the room should work normally again?

I FIXED THE PROBLEM!

The solution was simple! Guardian spawns in ANY water block within the water temple chunk. So I had an underwater cavern were a bunch of Guardians were clumped together preventing the guardians from spawning in my orginal spawner. Remove any invalided water blocks of where you don’t want guardians spawning!

It also helps if you light up caves around your area to due to the hostile mob cap in bedrock edition (50 hostile mobs I think).

 

It took a while, but I was able to solve this problem once and for all! 🙂

Feedback from the developers is that a workaround for this issue is to build the floor of the aquarium with a different material (this is because like above ground, guardians can't spawn on glass).

Has this been resolved?  My son and I just spent 3 days prepping a guardian farm only to find now guardians are spawning.  This issue has been unresolved for over a year.  Is anyone looking into it?  The comment about changing the floor doesn't apply to us because we aren't using glass blocks as the floor.  What "different material" were the developers referring to?

 

Also, I had read that mobs were not supposed to be able to spawn inside the template boundaries, but after we hollowed it out skeletons and spiders were spawning (we witnessed it at the very corner of the parameter).  If this is accurate then is this another monument related bug?

If mobs are spawning within the Ocean Monument area, then that does sound like a different issue.

I can write up the other part in a separate ticket, but it would be great to know if this has been looked into, and get clarification on the blocks the developers were referring to.

In my game guardians only spawn on the exterior of the monument. There are a handful swiming around one of the corners outside but none inside. When I used to play on legacy console guardians were all over those areas, inside and out. On bedrock guardians are only on the outsides of the monuments and in one small spot. The interiors of the monuments are just big empty maze like areas. The only enemies are the 3 elders. This makes ocean monument raiding on bedrock super boring. You don't even need weapons once you're inside except for when you find an elder. Total snooze fest. Please fix this bug or if it's not a bug, change this "feature" to match other versions of MC.

The changes to despawning in 1.16 (see MCPE-21856) mean that most modular-based guardian farms will now work more efficiently (you may or may not still have to kill pre-1.16 stray guardians in a one-off session), however it remains that guardians are not spawning everywhere they can.

Can confirm that this issue does affect beta 1.16.220.50. Here are some screenshots of several parts of the Ocean Monument. I've stood on top of the Monument for 30 minutes to make sure I gave enough time for Guardians to spawn. At times there would be a handful of 4-6 guardians, but they would be mostly at the back of the Ocean Monument or spread out attacking Squids. But in this instance, I found only four Guardians around the Ocean Monument which is very unusual and too easy for players who may try to raid an Ocean Monument. The three Elder Guardians are in the Monument but otherwise, the structure is completely devoid of any mobs whatsoever.
