I have added some servers on my Minecraft W10 which is cool and all but on the console which is my main platform that I play on is unable to add external servers because I have downloaded the dedicated server from Minecraft.net so I can run my own server from my HP Pavilion gaming laptop while I play on console but I cant add external servers unlike W10. I'm not sure if this is a bug with the console version or not but could you please help to rectify on how to add external servers on console bedrock. Many thanks

If that is true they are basically isolating the bedrock console version similar how Sony are isolating their console from not joining the bedrock version. This whole version was revolved around the "better together update" but its more like lets add some features to some versions and leave out others. It should be that we all get it or we all don't.
Thank you for your report!

This is due to something outside the minecraft team's control. It is a xbox restriction, not something the minecraft team can fix.

Mojang you have just lost 1 customer who bought 5 different versions of your game, I hope you consider adding external servers to console in the future otherwise the bedrock version wont be truly considered "better together". I will probably come back when external servers or new features are added to console to check them out. Thanks it has been fun playing Minecraft for over 5 years but you let me down with this news.
This is intended due to platform restrictions:
