Hi, I just bought City Life 2 for my son's Amazon Kindle Fire 10 which he uses in Kids Mode.
He can play MineCraft fine and has been doing so for a year or more. He has multiple worlds, all of which load without issue. He has downloaded several free worlds from the market place, all of which work fine.
Last night I made our first purchase of minecoins as a treat so that he could download a paid for World. He chose City Life 2 and I bought it.
I downloaded it under his profile in MineCraft but the game crashed just as it finished downloading and crashed the whole Amazon Kids environment (back to the kindle black screen with Amazon Kids logo and circling loading thing. After that, Minecraft crashes out on loading.
Rebooted the kindle and minecraft loads ok and all previous worlds load and can be played.
Tried to create a world from the new City Life 2 template, this processed all the way through but then was very jerky and would not play, then crashed..
We're unable to load the new world and trying to create a world from the template crashes constantly returning to the kindle homescreen.
I have tried this outside the kids profile too - I've logged in to the kindle as me, outside the kids profile and the same issue happens. So i don't think that it is something to do with the Kids profile aspect.
Please can you help get this working, particularly as this is our 1st market place purchase it's very disappointing.

I am having the same problem. My tablet is iPad Air third generation , sw version 13.4.1
Also purchased this from marketplace (first ever purchase). On a kindle. When generating world it returns to kindle screen and won't load. If restart kindle then Minecraft the homepage shows but when I press continue it takes me to main Minecraft screen and does not appear to install.

I purchased this for my son 2 days ago, and while it tries to load City Life 2, minecraft crashes. I'm not sure how to get a refund, but obviously my son would prefer it works. This is on an iPhone 6 Plus (latest iOS 12.x I believe installed), and under the same account on an iPhone 8 (latest iOS 13 I believe).
Same here. Son purchased City Life 2 with his birthday money (playing on iPad, IOS recently updated) and it’s constantly crashing. He’s so disappointed and I’m so cross. He’s had no problems with free marketplace world downloads but as soon as he pays for one it crashes ... hmmm.

Same issue here. My daughter bought City Life 2 and tablet just crashes out of Minecraft completely when loading it. Needless to say she's very disappointed as, like others here, she spent her own money on it. She is using a Fire HD 10 (2019 version - USB C).

My grandson bought City Life 2 last night - also with his own money which appears to be a common scenario with this product. He patiently reloaded it many times trying to find a way to play but it ALWAYS crashes after a few seconds. Can't believe that this wasn't tested before release. My daughter just bought this on her I-Pad Air. After she picks a location to go to from the starting area, it crashes almost immediately once the location spawns.

My son and daughter bought this yesterday. Both on iPads, latest version of iOS and Minecraft is up to date. They have the same issue, the mod will let them play from a few seconds to sometimes around 90 seconds before the crash. Tried to fix for HOURS last night before finding this bug report.
Is there any update? Has the issue been identified? Is a fix in the works? Are you even looking at this yet? Any kind of reply to let the users know that this is not just falling into a pit and never being looked at?

The game usually allows me to play a bit longer without the game crashing if I turn the fov and the render distance way down.

Same issue when using Kindle Fire 7 the running latest Fire O/S while in Freetime. City Life 2 shows as a playable map, the user can view/adjust map preferences, but when selecting "play map" it does not open. It will switch to the loading screen, but after a few minutes the entire Freetime environment crashes. Attempted to clear Minecraft cache and restart the tablet, but the issue is not resolved.
We're in the same boat as several other people, kid saved up their money to buy the map pack, but it doesn't work, so now he's skeptical of buying other packs.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but we have now stopped purchasing Minecoins after this incident. The apparent lack of vetting for items in the official store is concerning. The lack of any sort of communication from the developer is not helping the situation.

Agree with the recent comments above. The lack of any update is pretty damn poor and the least the developers should be doing is setting some expectations on their plans to resolve the obvious issues with this world. I certainly will not be buying any Minecoins again until I get some confidence in the products on offer - my 3 kids each bought a world from the martetplace. One of them is fine, but two of them end up with crashes just like ths one. Clearly the quality assurance being applied to the Marketplace is not good enough!

I have tried to request a refund using the form you linked out to but the response I've received from Mojang support is that I should be requesting a refund from Apple (as it was on an iPad). Obviously that's not correct as the purchase in from within Minecraft using the MarketPlace wih MineCoins - it certainly not Apple that should be providing a refund and I have responded to the Mojang support team as such.
Do you have any further idea of when this issue will be resolved, or failing that any other suggestions of how I can get a refund? Many thanks.
Here to report that I purchased Citylife 2 for my daughter and it crashes within 1 minute of play on her iPad. As mentioned by others before me, we'd much rather have the bug fixed than get a refund. My child is on the spectrum, Minecraft has been a godsend for her, and while we try to teach flexibility, there are times when it's hard for her to switch once she's gotten something in her head. What I'm trying to say is, she got some much deserved coins, researched carefully which world/realm she wanted to spend those coins, and chose Citylife 2. It would be awesome if the bug was patched rather than getting a refund. Helen, we have actually communicated before on a different bug a year or so ago. You were very responsive then, and I'm happy to see you are still on the team. I hope you'll be able to convey to the developers our concerns. Thank you.

Hello whenever I create a world with this template it immediately kicks me out of the Minecraft app entirely. I am using an iPhone SE (A1662) running iOS 13.3.1 with Minecraft version 1.14.60 with the latest City Life 2 version. Please react to this problem as fast as you can
I can also report that we are experiencing the crashing issue on both an iPad mini 4 and an iPad 10.2. The world will load and crash the entire instance of Minecraft on the device within a minute of loading.
This issue is now close to a month old with little movement, yet the game continues to be available for purchase. If you are going to continue to take people’s money, then please fix the issue or provide an update.
I have now requested a refund and will be avoiding this developer in the future.
As a quick update for others on this thread, and some advice......
I got fed up waiting for an update on this so requested a refund using the link provided above by Helen. I was fobbed off a couple of times with them suggesting the issues on this thread do not mean they need to provide a refund, or being told I have to contact Apple (as I'm using an iPad) to get a refund. I was also told "crashing is not grounds for a refund" and that "All Minecraft Coin purchases are final".
If you are in the UK then all of these points are not true and contravene consumer law in the UK. Again, in the UK (and likely the case for many countries in the EU), under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content should be of a satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. The digital content that this developer is providing doesn't function as described on the Marketplace (i.e. it crashes as soon as it's loaded), it's not fit for purpose (because it cannot actually be used as advertised) and on that basis it's clearly not of sufficient quality.
In light of this the provider is obligated to indicate when the product will be fixed (within in a reasonable time) or provide you with a refund.

I purchased this for my daughters Ipad yesterday - but it keeps crashing. I bought it through the minecraft app. I would like a refund - but I am unable to find anywhere to do so. When it was purchased in the app I didn't get any confirmation of the purchase - so I don't have an order number to provide. She can't use it at all, as it crashes within 60 seconds of opening up the game. What a disappointment. If you know the game has issues, and have known since the 13th of May (We are now into June - I purchased on June 4th) - why make it available for purchase for users. This isn't a minor issue - it STOPS game play completely. What a waste!

You need to address this problem Mojang. You know there is an issue and you continue to sell the pack and steal people’s money. My daughter used here allowance to buy the pack and it does not work. It is criminal what you are doing.
@Mega_Spud & @HelenAngel any update on when this will be fixed? In the interim you should at least remove from the marketplace immediately with all the folks that continue to have the same issue and no clear cut resolution on a refund.

It has been more than a month sense I bought City life 2 and you guys still can’t get the problem fixed you also can’t get an update on the problem either and I am getting inpatient. Update: After calling Amazon customer service, we are supposedly being refunded for our digital Minecoin purchase. I was told this is a one-time thing and only as a good will gesture. I'm going to wait until I see the credit applied to my credit card statement before I get excited.
My children and I both agreed to not buy PIxelheads created content in the future. I am also discouraging them from using their chore money on buying Minecoins in general. Never had broken DLC with the Nintendo eShop, so that's where they are spending instead.

Second purchase in a week from the PixelHead team that does not work. Dinosaur Island has a bug in it on IOS that is two years old and these amateurs haven't fixed it.
We thought we'd give the team the benefit of the doubt and download another world and picked City Life 2. This crashes after a couple of minutes of play. Both games were £4.99 in the UK and my son used his birthday money for both. Either fix the bug or issue refunds to everyone because you are literally robbing children of their money. You might as well run a sweatshop.
The game should be removed from the Marketplace until it's fixed. Do Majong Studios have any morals?

This should not be available for purchase until it is fixed;
This should be fixed by now, and since it isn't, updates should be regularly provided;
If this can't be fixed promptly, a full refund should be issued and people can choose to buy it again when it is fixed (if confidence in Pixelheads content can be restored);
This is the second Pixelheads Marketplace item we have purchased recently that crashes and will not load;
Children (my son and many others judging from the comments) have spent their own money in good faith in the Marketplace and have not received value for their money) and this breach of confidence is disappointing and unacceptable.
Please reply with a detailed update on the issue and with detailed instructions for receiving a full refund.

I have contacted them on twitter regarding both issues and had zero response. This started as a DM to the two founders and I've had no response in the last three days. I've sent them a few messages now and they are getting less polite.
I noticed on the tweet advertising City Life 2 all the comments are telling them it crashes on multiple devices and yet it is still in the Marketplace and they haven't responded to any comment.
I just posted a warning to the Parenting in a Tech World group on Facebook with roughly 73,000 members. LOTS of Minecraft parents on there.

Same as others, my son took a long time choosing a minecraft pack, saved up and I helped him pay and download as had to use coins (I’m afraid I don’t know much about how this game works!). The game has never worked and just crashes. We are not the kid of family who have money to waste like this and he has learned a very upsetting lesson at the tender age of 7 that there are adults who are just out to make money from him and don’t care how they do it. I’m shocked and disgusted that this issue is still going on. There appears to be no effort in correcting this game so that it can be played, and no effort to remove it to stop countless others from falling into the same expensive trap.
Having tested it in multiple devices and with almost every variation of settings from basic to full it ‘feels’ like the issue is too many elements (vehicles, people, animals you name it!) loading all at once and the game just reaches memory capacity or just doesn’t scale as it should do... just my observation as I can find no way to see a verbose error/crash log to sense check my assumption....
We are having same problem in that it keeps crashing. Very annoying especially as we spent on it. If it is taken down or continues with no resolution do they offer refunds? Not sure how the game works sorry but it is frustrating that my boy's pocket money is currently wasted. Also as I have now commented on this do I get updates on progress?

My son is having this issue as well, as soon as city life 2 loads, it crashes the app and brings him to the home screen. He does not get the opportunity to navigate or even try anything in the world before it crashes :/

It has been over a month since this thread was started. The lack of response and initiative is pathetic. Memorial Day was used as an excuse so it could be swept under the rug. At this point I don’t just want my money back, I want credit for waiting this long without a patch or even another response. Flat out PATHETIC.

So are we just abandoned on this issue? You are just going to keep selling a broken mod? At least throw us a bone and let us know it is being looked into. Because right now it appears that the developer is perfectly fine with selling a broken product and happily keeping the money. Which really seems like fraud more than selling a product.

I managed to contact one of the dev team at PixelHeadsTeam through twitter after resorting to insults in my third or forth message. They just apologised and told me to try and get a refund from the App stored (we have the problem on iOS and no they won't give a refund). The other team member ignored me completely. Majong support responded saying they don't see it as their responsibility. It is the responsibility of the development team. They don't appear to police the Marketplace and are happy to allow kids of 6/7 upwards get ripped off.

After a full week of lock down school work being completed I bought this for my son on his kindle Fire 8 HD. Unfortunately it has never worked and just crashes the kindle back to a restart. This was over 6 weeks ago and I had hoped a fix would have been sorted by now.
Can someone at Mojang please either fix the problem or give a credit back to all the children so they can play something else.
I'm really annoyed to see that people are still getting screwed over after buying this useless add-on for Minecraft. I posted much earlier on this thread a few weeks ago but felt it was worth repeating some of what I said earlier just in case it helps others get a refund.

Came across a two year old bug they hadn't fixed after about five minutes of play. Majong take no responsibility; their reply is below. My next step is to contact Tesco Bank as the purchase was made on a credit card and speak to their fraud department about issuing a section 75.

I'm UK based too and purchased on PS4.I originally purchased Minecraft coins on PS4 Store then used those coins/tokens to purchase City Life 2.
Nit happy at all as I have no clue how to get my money back.
I tweeted the guy from Mojang but had no response. I gather that when they moved to Bedrock edition, Mojang took over support from Sony on PS4 and service has gone downhill rapidly.

Mojang studios is valued at $1.5B yet they cannot send us back our money or even reply. This is a massive scandal and I'm going to try my best to get it on national news at the BBC or even their consumer rights program, Watchdog.
Mojang Studio's have thoroughly messed up and haven't a clue how to apply maintenance to their store. It's a wild west free for all of cowboys selling broken games.
Not downloading anything else from that store until they introduce proper measures to protect their customers against this kind of theft.
I have now contacted Watchdog about this as well as BBC News. This is a major organisation fleecing customers and essentially stealing.

I spoke to Apple Support on the phone as the website doesn't allow refunds for in-app purchases as they expect you to speak to the app developers.
When I explained the issue with Majong Studios taking no responsibility for what's in Marketplace and their support saying they can't give refunds. That contacting the development team behind the mod as instructed by Majong doesn't go anywhere because they don't have to fix the bug and can't issue refunds. They asked what game it was and when I told them it was Minecraft, the most popular game of all time with a target audience of kids 7+, they were appalled. They issued the refund without question. That was an hour ago and the money is already back in PayPal account.
For whatever platform you're on that isn't working that you made the in-app purchase through contact them directly and on the phone if you can. I found human compassion overcame the problem.
In the end it came down to principal for me. I'm so pleased I got my money back. Do not give up!
Just purchased this for my kids on the Nintendo Switch and the game keeps crashing out on the 'Generating World' page. Tried rebooting the system, made sure the system and game are up to date, same result every time. I wish I'd checked to see if there problems with the pack before purchasing, but you don't expect this kind of issue when purchasing from a company like Mojang. I'll be attempting to get my money back.
Same here with iPad. It crashes. I did a bug report and they replied that they are “monitoring it” and set the ticket to “resolved”. But it isn’t resolved for me. I still cannot get into it without immediately crashing. I’ve requested my money back also. I read on Reddit that this has been going on for a couple months at least. Very frustrated.
Purchased for my daughter and it keeps crashing. Why can’t they fix this? 😡

And why is this pack still for sale given all the tickets raised and comments posted here? Infuriatingly awful behaviour and will make us think very hard before buying minecoins again.
Same as above comments, my daughter used her own money after picking this world and is heartbroken I can’t fix it for her.

Same issue. Lenovo Tab 8" Sits at 'generating world' for about 15 seconds then crashes the app.
I have purchased "City Life 2" on PS4 by using Minecraft Coins.
The world initializes loading but aborts it pretty much immediately (game does not crash).
Honestly, it is not acceptable to sell worlds that are not usable.
This means there is no quality control at all because a simple test by just trying to launch the world should have revealed the issue.
Furthermore, it is a slap in the face of customers that no refunds are granted for this (according to Mojangs refund policy).
Why is this still offered for sale with these known issues?

Same problem here and no way to contact Pixel Heads, that I can find, to request a refund or credit to download again. So frustrating especially for daughter who used present money for this, Money completely wasted!

This has taught me when my son wants to buy a new world that we search Mojang's Jira to check for any reported bugs first.
The only two I've had issues with up to this point were both developed by Pixel Heads. I am betting that their QA department only tests on PC.
I have this same issue with my iPad. Can't keep City Life 2 open long enough to play anything before it crashes.
Happens on Switch, except the world dosen't even open before the game crashes. Im starting to think that this world is a scam.
My original complaint is quite old now and there has never been any communication about the issue, a cause, a potential refund or anything. This is, of course fraud. If you pay for something and never receive that good or service in a useable state it is fraud. I've contacted my credit card company for a charge back and will lodge a complaint with BBB for whatever that's worth. I agree with someone's point about the obviously unethical practices of both PixelHead and Mojang for enabling this fraudulent activity, especially given its audience is intended for kids.

City Life 2 just purchased with minecoins. Purchased pack of minecoins on iOS IPad. But it crashes on iPad as well as Switch. Helpful to know how to get minecoins back.
Bit the bullet and filed an app store refund as this probably wont get fixed anytime soon since its been almost 4 months and no communication from the developer that they even care.

I got a refund from Apple for the minecoins I purchased. Realistically Mojang should have just credited back the minecoins that I used.
This loaded once for my son on his iPad 6, then crashed. From then on, it crashes upon loading, so worthless...a refund would be appreciated at this point. Between money spent and meltdowns from an 8 year old that doesn't understand why it won't work, I do not think that is too much to ask.
We are having the same issue on my daughter's iPad 7. If this is a known issue, why is City Life 2 still available in the minecraft marketplace? Can someone from Mojang please advise?
Quick update:
At some point (some weeks ago), the world was properly loading on PS4 and it was quite a fun for my kids.
Well.. this fun did not last long as it seems that some update for Minecraft on PS4 destroyed the world again.
It could still be loaded up but lots of stuff like cars and other accessories within the world were completely gone.
My advice again would be to just STAY AWAY FROM THIS
