(1.10) Tested informally with a single shulker box in my inventory that had 26 occupied slots and one open slot. Placing it on the ground so that I have no shulker in my inventory was fine. As soon as I put the box in my inventory the lag kicked in when opening my inventory.
With or without a shulker in my inventory, opening a chest was lag-free.
I don't see this behavior with an Ender Chest. Ender Chest(s) seems to have no effect on Inventory lag.
Edit: Michael Brearley, renaming the Shulker Box does not seem to have an appreciable effect on the lag.
Edit2: I noticed Michael has a texture pack enabled. I disabled the official beta Texture Update Pack and re-tested. Observed same behavior. It might have been slightly improved in general but there is a clear difference between opening the inventory without a shulker box and opening the inventory with a shulker box.
Ran into this this evening. Very aggravating. Win10, 1.7.1
I tried putting a single bucket of lava over the top of the drop (it's currently a 4x2 column) across some fence gates and will see if that helps force the guardians down.
It's never been normal to have a world generate with tons of floating blocks and sharp high straight walls.
I't always been relatively smooth everywhere except for mountain type biomes and even then nowhere near as bad as this.

ASUS K013
Android 4.4.2
I have attempted the following without success:
updating the game
uninstalling (incl all root files) then re-installing
completely restoring the tablet to factory settings without using back up files (i.e. totally clean tablet)
turning WIFI off when running
on and off charge
Downloaded from Amazon and attempted to play several times, also tried Playstore, no luck from either

Started a standard superflat in 15w44b in creative mode using "hello" as the seed (if that matters) and let it sit there while doing nothing for about 40 minutes.
I then flew around and found 2 no ai skeletons.
Added a screen shot of the entity data of a no ai skeleton.
Looks normal to me.
Haven't had much time to play lately but I did just jump into spectator mode to see if I could see anything.
No mineshafts or spawners anywhere near the village and everything else seems fine.
I did place a ton of torches around the village and the no ai skeletons stopped spawning.
I'll remove the torches when I get time and see if they reappear.
You know what would work even better? An NBT tag for hiding the durability bar. Could be as easy as "DurabilityBar:0" for off and "DurabilityBar:1" for on...
Yes, that's how particles work. This isn't a bug. It's quite literally how the game is designed. It is a particle, so if you set the game to see no particles, you won't see it.
