"Going forward, the Bedrock Engine-based version of Minecraft will be called simply Minecraft on all platforms. Our general rule of thumb is that if a version can play together with the others, it’s called Minecraft. The original Java PC version and all other isolated versions will have “Edition” names, like Minecraft: Wii U Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition."

Confirmed for 1.17 Pre-release 2

Please fix this issue before the release of 1.17, I know many servers and people who like to dual wield with the crossbow!

Confirmed for 1.17 Pre-release 1

I updated the description to include the exceptions since those bugs were fixed. I'm afraid I can't provide an analysis of the sound as I don't know how to do it, could someone else?

I personally have never noticed this issue with Netherrack or Calcite and still don't, which just goes to show that only some people can hear these issues. Unfortunately, I don't know how to access the audio files for so I can't show anything.

How is this glaring issue still not fixed a year later?

This isn't a bug, it's a feature request

This should be re-opened, it is still a issue and was fixed in Java last year with 1.14
