The Bug:
Amethyst geodes can intersect ancient cities.
In some rare cases, this can cause the redstone mechanisms within ancient city centers to be obstructed.
Here is an example:
Version: 23w51b
Seed: 4942781640353635955
Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s 9634.30 -51.00 -352.75 1026.75 2.81
Steps to Reproduce:
Generate a world with the seed provided above and teleport to the given coordinates.
Look closely at the generation of the amethyst geode and ancient city.
Take note as to whether or not amethyst geodes can intersect ancient cities.
Observed Behavior:
Amethyst geodes can intersect ancient cities.
Expected Behavior:
Amethyst geodes would not be able to intersect ancient cities.

Just to add to this, I feel as if the core problem here is amethyst geodes being able to intersect the generation of ancient cities, and as a result, this sometimes can destroy the redstone mechanisms within ancient city centers.
Can confirm in 1.19.2.
