In both gamemodes, placing a piston while facing east then powering it will allow you to talk through the piston head.
Walking through these piston while facing north makes the heads act as if they are a full block, meaning you can't walk to the piston arm itself.
What I expected to happen was...:
What happens when the piston faces any other direction, you cannot walk through it.
What actually happened was...:
You could walk through it
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Face EAST
2. Place any kind of piston, one on top of each other
3. Power both pistons in any way
4. Face the arm from the south
5. Walk southwest so you are stuck between the arm and head of the piston
6. Walk southeast into the piston head

Confirmed in 13w04a.

Confirmed to still happen in 13w09b.
I first found out about it by falling through while walking on top. XD
EDIT: I meant b.

This bug breaks farms like the tripwire enderman farm because mobs get stuck inside the piston arm, so the pistons are constantly powered (because the mob steps on the pressure plate) and never retract. Voted.

confirmed in 13w21b. Walking south allows player (in any gamemode) and some mobs to pass through the "arm". Walking north will only allow player to pass through if they jump near the piston first.

Tested it in 1.6.1, still here.

Also in 1.6.2; I just tested it.
It's very easy to do if you walk north or south into the piston arm, then turn to face the piston box a bit (it never works when turning to face the arm).
Also, you're able to strafe back and forth through the arm when facing east or west if you're in the right position.

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w04b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Confirmed in 14w04b: behavior appears to be identical to previous versions.

Confirmed for 14w21b.

Confirmed for 14w25b.

Still in 14w30c (MC-64115)

Confirmed for 1.8 prerelease 2
Please, fix it before release!!

Confirmed for 1.8pre2.

Tested in 1.8.1-pre1, and I was not able to recreate it.
Piston arms facing west (according to the 1.8 debug menu's block info) have a differently-shaped hitbox than the other arms, but none of them can be walked through anymore from what I tried.

Can confirm what George Gates commented.
The piston arm's hitbox has been adjusted, but is still malformed.

Was this fixed in 1.8 or 1.8-pre1 ?

Only 1.8.1-pre1 has the adjusted hitbox (not 1.8). 1.8.1-pre2 is back to the old malformed hitbox.
Edit: version fix 1.8-pre1 => 1.8.1-pre1

Derp. Meant 1.8.1-pre1, not 1.8-pre1.
But cannot confirm in 1.8.1-pre2, see screenshot

The piston in the image you just posted is facing east, however the faulty piston is facing west (it is placed while facing east).
I double checked using the sandstone textures, however I really tired right now, maybe I overlooked something or I'm missing the point of your picture.
Not that it really matters, it should be easy enough to find if you place 4 pistons around a redstone torch.

Can confirm fixed for pistons facing east, but it now occurs with a piston facing west.

Ok, got it.

Confirmed in 15w34d.

Can't reproduce anymore in 15w45a, was probably fixed earlier.

Fixed somewhere between 15w34d and 15w44b, probably with MC-1635.

Incorrect, Piston arms don't let go pass through when facing directions with the exception of facing west. Which means only Facing West will let player go through.

So this is still happening in 16w02a?

I tested in 16w02a and the current 16w03a, both in all cardinal directions. I did not run into the bug.
