Efficiency enchantment does not work on shovels and axes

The Pickaxe works fine for normal blocks but does not work on ice, glass etc.

can confirm. eff 5 diamond shovel acts like it is unenchanted speed wise. haven't tried axes though.

Confirm, diamond shovel with eff 4 isn't working. Normal diamond shovel speed.
Pickaxes are fine.

I have Efficiency V on both diamond axe and shovel. Confirmed on the normal shovel speed as well as axe speed. Efficiency V on pickaxe, but enchant still works. Hope we get this issue solved 🙂

Can confirm My Eff 4 shovel isnt digging as fast as it was, however I only started noticing this in 32b

Can confirm for diamond shovel Eff 4. Is this only Eff anyone test other enchantments?

Confirmed, 32a and 32b have the same issue. Fortune and Silk touch are working, but efficiency is not

Yep. Tested it out today. the pickaxe also has its enchants still bugged out.

My pickaxe is perfectly fine? It's diamond, and has unbreaking 3 on it too.

It could be just people's computers, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I really don't know. hmmmmm.

14w32c: Pickaxe is working, but not shovel or axe

Confirmed - Enchant & Haste Beacon doesn't have any effect.
Mining speed it the same for all.

This and the messed up center of the new maps are the two recently-spawned side effects of new features that I would like to be fixed. Clearly, this is the most influential of the two, and should be fixed in 14w33a, if there even is a 14w33a. If this gets into 1.8, this will be the major complaint. Barring another major glitch, which appears unlikely, this should be a top priority glitch to fix for 1.8.

If you'd like to see a particular bug fixed, you should vote on it using the link near the top-right that says "Vote for this issue". Commenting only spams anyone following the issue, and won't get anyone at Mojang's attention if they're not following that particular issue, whereas the tracker has tools to compare vote counts, such as the popular issues page.

The pickaxe, nor axe nand shovel efficiency don't work on ice either.

And, as already mentioned, that's MC-11992.

Actually the ice is not the bug you just senr, that is glowstone. In before snapshots was even added that you can mine packed ice now as fast as ice, and you can mine them the fastest with an efficiency pickaxe.

Whoops, you're correct. Ice was mentioned in one of the duplicates, but we don't currently have a bug filed for efficiency pickaxes on ice. Does efficiency still work on packed ice (MC-34772)?

I tested both. You can mine packed ice as fast with a normal diamond pick as with efficiency.

Not fixed in 14w33a, that's disappointing..
