Possible fixes
Run the Launcher as Administrator (right click ->
Run as administrator
)Try a malware scan:
ADWCleaner is an utility to clean a PC which is infested with malware. Download it here: https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1/
Run a Scan, Clean anything it finds, restart the computer
If that doesnt fix it, use the old launcher:
Download the second one
If you have a nvidia GPU, try the fix in MC-112780
If still crashes, go to community support with the crash log

New launcher will not get my Minecraft to get passed MOJANG logo after pressing PLAY. Shows me that Minecraft is Not Responding, and close it out showing an error of Java Platform SE Binary is not responding. Reinstalled newest version of Java, uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft, upgraded my laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10 and I still cannot get passed the MOJANG logo still. I have no idea what else to do to resolve this issue other than going out and wasting a ton of money on a new laptop. In conclusion, new launcher has caused me to no longer play Minecraft on my laptop, as the old version worked perfectly fine before the 2.0.806 launcher update.

I'm having the same error. Sometimes I can load a server then it crashes.

This may be caused by broken Nvidia graphics drivers.
Please check if the hotfix of MC-112780 fixes that probkem.

This laptop does not have Nvidia graphics. Its an AMD based laptop. Colton, I cannot even access the main menu of Minecraft

Exact same problem I am experiencing.

Having similar issues, but I do not get the "Not responding", Minecraft just terminates itself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubqxBd10nqk

@Jexel Jexington, yours is MC-297

Same here. It's the launcher, not my computer.
EDIT: https://minecraft.net/en-us/download/alternative
Download second one if you have Windows.
Open your game and play. Ugh, thankfully this works.
Let them hash out that bug, enjoy your game.

Did that. Now the old launcher is working. Something is wrong with the new launcher loading the game fully. Please fix ASAP

I see that I am not alone whom it happens. With the new launcher is always showing me where the table is spelled wrong. And not always starts and when it starts so it lags so many that I can not play. I suddenly 1-3 FPS and before leaving the new launcher so I was usually around 30 FPS. Please fix!

I can access the game via old launcher/ ATlauncher, but not the new launcher, also my skin does not appear, although it is uploaded to minecraft.net...

i've got the same problem. it's annoying me

Just started happening to me yesterday please help

The problem appeared after updating to Windows 10 Creators Update.

I have this same problem as well. But I do know that the broblem is with Nvidi Graphics cards. I have unistalled all drivers and redownloaded them and nothing seems to work. When I play with the integrated Intel HD4000 Graphics, the game works just fine. (The game worked before the Windows 10 Creators update with Nvidia Graphics but how could the problem be caused by it. No idea.)
Running vanilla (no mods of any kind).

So.. Here are the people with this problem without nvidia graphics. @Pelikuningas1. Search up this same with nvidia graphics and you'll find the one.
It has also been solved.
But, else use older launcher.
E: After windows update everything worked fine.

ive updated drivers (gtx1070) ive run the old launcher and uninstalled the game over 5 times and ive read every forum post and I cant get it to work...

I receive the same Java(TM) Runtime SE Binary has stopped working error after hitting play in the launcher. I was playing with no issues until the Windows 10 Update. Running vanilla Minecraft.
i5-7600k @ stock
MSI Duke GTX 1080 @ stock
My graphics card driver is up to date, also reverted to older drivers as potential solution, and still no fix.
Uninstalled MInecraft and removed all appdata, reinstalled, same issue.
Downloaded most updated java, same issue. Tried adding more recent jre to runtime folder (1.8.131) but it keeps reinstalling the 1.8.25 jre when executing from launcher.
Downloaded old launcher, still same issue.
Very frustrated, and all current fixes in forums I have searched have not worked.

Having this issue currently. Intel GPU, updated drivers. Uninstalled Minecraft and reinstalled, it didn't fix it. No fixes I've found help whatsoever. Older launcher doesn't help, either.

well i havent completely found out a way to fix it
i found a way around it
when u start up minecraft
open up ur task manager
from there u will see 2 minecraft launchers
close the one that takes less mbs and the game automatically works
well thats how it worked for me atleast
if it doesnt work oh well

i just bought minecraft java edition recently and the java(tm) stopped responding. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it 5 times and i followed the steps on minecraft to install the old version but it still doesn't work. Pls fix this issue!!!!!

my minecraft closes when I'm going to get into a server and the game has stopped working, an unexpected error has occurred and the game has stopped working. We apologize for the inconvenience and I have version 1.12.2

Just bought Minecraft 4 days ago and I haven't been able to play. The game stops with the same message "Java(TM) Runtime SE Binary has stopped working". I've tried all the suggestions but nothing worked and I'm getting very frustrated. Please, help!

A friend finally fixed it. Said that the launcher uses an internal Java which crashes, so you need to set it to use the Java on your computers. Try Launch options -> Advanced settings - > Java executable

I'm still having the problema, even with the old launcher.
This is the error message:

Really appreciate your support,
Thank you very much!

@unknown This is caused by broken Intel graphics drivers, see MC-32606

Honestly at this point I really wish I didn't buy this game.
The old launcher just makes single player too laggy to play, and I shouldn't have to play on the old launcher.
The new launcher worked for the first couple of days before that SE binary crap started to happen. Tried about six different ways to fix it. None of it work or I wouldn't be here.
Here my debug info. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CfSJnBjuQ-NSWxPZuqnHW6Tvje70LKYJKzrCgVQhbAY/edit?usp=sharing

POSSIBLE FIX
Disclaimer ahead: I'm a computer science student. I have knowledge and experience in testing software. I was trying to fix the issue for multiple hours over the course of two days. I can pretty much exclude graphics card driver problems and Java Runtime Engine problems. As far as I can see it doesn't even really matter what Java version you have installed by yourself since the Minecraft launcher downloading a version of it on its own.
I had all the usual problems stated here:
Installing the Launcher to different directories (recommended and custom on two different drives)
Installing a version of the game to different directories (recommended and custom on two different drives)
Updating NVIDIA Graphis Driver for GTX 1060
Updating Intel Graphics Driver for Intel HD Graphics 530
Deleting everything (also .minecraft in %appdata%)
What surprisingly fixed the issue for me afterwards was launching the MinecraftLauncher.exe in administrator mode. I just got curious and I knew that in rare occasions this is a common fix for software problems. I launched it multiple times after finding this out in both administrator mode and non-administrator mode and every time I didn't the game crashed on launch.
I hope this is a valuable addition to this problem and not a duplicate. Nevertheless, please add this workaround to the above ticket so people can see it more easily.
EDIT:
Nevertheless, I would recommend everyone to update all drivers and reinstall the game completely including wiping the .minecraft folder. The problem may have something to do with it anyways.

The error this report is based on is too generic, and in most cases a technical support issue, which we do not handle on the bug tracker. Please use Community Support to help solve your issue.
If you can provide further information than the "Minecraft has stopped working" window, please create a new report, and don't forget to include your launcher_log.txt.

What I did to resolve the issue is by deleting the ".minecraft" folder. Credit to Fabian Fritzsche's advice!
