Workaround
This issue is caused by Discord; exiting Discord (make sure the process is actually not running anymore) should fix it.
If exiting Discord doesn't fix this issue for you, try running Minecraft as an administrator.
Also other incompatible software like Razer cortex's overlay, and nvidia gamecaster causes this effect.
When I go into Minecraft, it opens up and works like normal for around 2 seconds, then it stops working, I cant click on anything on the menu, "Singleplayer", "Multiplayer", etc. And if I happen to make it into a world/server somehow, I cant click interact with anything. This isn't a crash, as Minecraft will still work. The food bar will degrade, chat will show up and continue to work. Yet I can't interact with anything.

I've been having the same problem at the Mojang screen, where at the Mojang screen, and only at the Mojang screen, will it say not responding, and for any version of Minecraft. For me, this problem is specifically for the new launcher, using the old one works fine. Pressing F3 + C does not force a crash, as it is not responding. If it did I would have attached the crash report. This problem only started about two or three days ago. Edit: I noticed in task manager under processes it said Minecraft launcher was still running. When I click it and hit end task, I can progress past the Mojang screen. I'm not sure if this helps.
Please provide a small video with the debug screen enabled (hit the F3
key) demonstrating the issue.
f3 + C for 10 seconds does nothing and there No crash report appears so I thought this was weird and tried to open minecraft with optifine since that works and f3 + C for 10 seconds does nothing, I retryed a few times it didn't work, so I am confused here as you probably might be too I don't know if it is because of optifine or not, also all other f3 + (a key) command work fine in-game. Also, I opened up Minecraft to try and do it but what happen was that my game was working, I was surprised and quite confused so I decided to set it to a window rather than in fullscreen like I normally play and the game instantly froze, now I'm stuck again in this state of frozen game, hopefully, that brings more information. Also if this turns out to be just for me or not a bug related to in-game code (which would make no sense since I tried minutarizing other games on my Alienware laptop and it works fine) then you don't have to worry about me I can just play Minecraft in fullscreen though I would need to find a way to get it to open in fullscreen but I'm pretty sure I can just open an optifine version and set it to fullscreen then close it and open a vanilla version(since vanilla is much better in my opinion) and just play in fullscreen. this is from report MC-124626 I was told to say this here by [Mod] Neko.
I noticed there has not been any activity on this issue in a while, as the moderators have deemed it "Resolved". Has the OP managed to get his game working again, and will Mojang address this issue?
I've tried closing discord but now that seems to have broken discord and now that app won't launch. Something is clearly wrong
I FOUND A SOLUTION!
Go into discord and turn off "enable in-game overlay" in the overlay tab of the user settings. Then go to the Games tab of the user settings, turn off "Display currently running game as a status message" and also turn off the overlay for Minecraft
The error will still occur but it won't crash/freeze the game and you can play!
If you are experiencing this issue, please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report (

) here.If you've updated any parts of your system recently before experiencing this issue please also let us know.
