Target blocks visually redirect Redstone dust, but don't actually

Target blocks visually redirect Redstone dust, but don't actually redirect it. It's not a huge issue, but could be a extreme source of confusion for people learning Redstone.

To reproduce build what's in the included screenshot. The contraption with the Redstone light off is the intended mechanic. The daylight sensor is redirecting the dust away from the iron block, keeping the light from getting powered.

In the other contraption the target block is appearing to redirect the dust like the daylight sensor does, but the light is still powered. This shows that the block doesn't actually redirect the dust. Other tests done by anyone with a basic understanding of Redstone will show the same affect.

Again, this is not a huge issue (especially with target blocks now conducting Redstone and therefore being placed in situations where this issue won't be as apparent), but it's still a source of confusion and frustration.

Any word on this issue? With the 1.17.32, was hoping this was going to get fixed. Seems more relevant than Looting affecting Projectiles. At least with that bug, still getting drops even though reduced. The bug of this ticket makes redstone broken for certain blocks.

Pistons have already been reported at MCPE-16892, so I have removed them from this report.

I also have this issue in 1.17.41 bedrock dedicated server and IOS single player worlds, creative and survival

I made a duplicate of this bug report, but I swear I tried looking for if it already existed, but judging from all the other duplicates, I’m guessing this is just a hard bug to explain. (Also I’m not sure if casual comments are allowed, sorry)

Confirmed on 1.20.12

Seems to be related to (not duplicated by) https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-177930, where redstone dust displays / powers blocks incorrectly.

This seems to still be an issue in 1.21.2

Target blocks are visually redirecting redstone, but not redirecting the actual redstone power in game

CPCD

not sure if it's the same thing, but a seemingly related phenomenon happened to me where target blocks seem to redirect the redstone dust, but the dust will still continue to power the block that it used to (the dust is indeed being redirected powering the target block though)

CPCD

just to add context, this is relevant as of 1.21.61

(image below is to show that the dust is being redirected)
