( Device - Samsung Galaxy S7 )
I've been experiencing with these lag spikes since version 1.4 and now i thought it would already be fixed after 1.5. But after re-checking and going out again in the update, it's still laggy & i can't help it. Please FIX THIS ASAP, this is a very severe bug especially since i'm using a SAMSUNG S7

I think its either because of: a. Slow chunk/water rendering issue or b. Sea mobs/entities/blocks (like seaweeds) spawning/existing. This affected every world, every world has oceans, right? Ocean monuments dont cause that much of a lag and probably neither is a farm. I havent tried peaceful yet, but lemme try ( i think, no it doesnt affect it )
But i saw many other high end devices and even low ones can handle it perfectly without lag. Please fix it if u can, thank you so much! π
This is also happening on both my wife's and my LG Q6 running Nougat and 1.5.1. It seems whenever we get near the ocean, we get massive lag. We don't have any behaviour packs or textures installed. We were fine before the update aquatic. We even started a fresh world in a new seed thnking it was our old world, and hit immediate lagged on any seed that had ocean visible. We are playing SMP on a local world that I am hosting on my phone. It is brutally slow at times. Then whenever we get away from the ocean, there is no lag.
I have tried reducing our settings and still not helping. Our ram usage is still showing at least 1.5GB free, so not a performance issue on our end. It makes moving slow to a crawl, difficulty to turn, cannot easily sprint swim from a standing position wihin the water. And naturally, makes it almost impossible to open chests and activate buttons at times.
Confirmed in version 1.5.2.1
Motorola Moto G5S
It occurs in all worlds when I approach the ocean. The problem is bigger in small islands
Potentially FIXED in 1.13.0.
For the first time since the full release of Update Aquatic, I am no longer lagging on my phone when getting near an ocean biome. I can actually swim and not lag out and stop sprint swimming. If I am in a boat, my boat icon on a locator map is not taking forever to catch up to where I am or turn when I also turn.
PLEASE do not break this again, Mojang!
I still need to test if this lag is truly gone by visiting and underwater ravine where a ton of bubbles are generated.
Still exists in 1.14. I have a nether portal network and when I take a portal to the overworld, it is extremely choppy and low fps for only the ones near oceans. Clears up after about 10-20 seconds.

Can you please add any more details as to what may be causing the issue? Does this affect every world, or just this one in particular? Is there an Ocean Monument nearby, or perhaps a large farm? Does switching to Peaceful help at all?
