So I had been wondering why my settings took 5 seconds to load while other switches took 1 second but after a month it went to 30 seconds just to open settings...I was so confused then I found out what was wrong...the game has a small lag spike when opening settings and if you have cached resource packs from joining a user with a customs resource pack it makes the lag longer once I deleted all the cached packs the lag went away I think this may be a bug that makes the cached data act as if its active at all times causing the game to have big performance drops

I'm pretty sure my Switch Minecraft slows down a bit for each world created. I'm now forcing my kids to remove old worlds (we're at 60 now, and even just starting the game takes a minute). I'll try to remove unused resource packs, and try to "remove cached packs" (never heard of it). I'll report back.

On my Switch, it slows down as I add more worlds and packs from the Marketplace.

I believe my long load times began right after I browsed through the available online skins — hundreds of them — then picked one and started my game. After that the load times were about 1+ minutes. After clicking in the Switch menu to start the game, it would stay totally black for a minute before it would even show the loading bar screen. After completely erasing the entire saved game data for that user, it returned to a quick startup time again. (of course I had to redo my xbox live login again)
Even removed the installed resource pack, the loading time still slow as not reasonable.
Each enter game will show "Generation world" at least 3-5 min. then enter game
Each save and quit will show "Loading resource" at least 3-5 min. then show game saving.
Don't know why the Targa based console performance is worst than mobile version which CPU&GPU is slower than switch.
