This affects every player beyond player one. I have tried every combination of graphics settings without coming up with a solution. It has rendered the aquatic features mostly unusable for additional players.

Exact same problem here, but we only started having the problem after the 1.8.0 update - prior versions worked just fine. We even tried creating a brand new world - had the same result. This bug makes playing Minecraft as a family in multi-player no longer viable.
This issue also seems to affect Nintendo Switch as described on: MCPE-39822.
I am also seeing this issue (for Nintendo Switch).
Same problem for me on xbox one with splitscreen since the last update. Everything worked perfectly on the previous version
I have the exact same problem when trying to play split screen on my Xbox one. I reported it as well and i hope it gets fixed in the next patch.
Reporting in that this problem is also happening on the Nintendo Switch. Player 2's water is mostly opaque, making water related features of the game difficult. We've tried creating new worlds, and we tried switching accounts, but the the problem continues to persist for whoever is on player 2.
We have the same issue on the xbox 1 on version 1.8.0. This worked fine until this update and is now broken. I have not been able to find any collection of settings that will make it work the correct way.
It looks like the values in the biomes_client.json are not working for split screen beyond the first screen correctly and falls back to default. This includes "water_surface_transparency", "water_fog_color", "water_fog_distance". Oddly "water_surface_color" does seem to work (this is really noticeable with swamp water).
Same problem really annoying! How long will this take to fix?
Having the same problem on Switch. Thought it was just an issue with the sea beacon but it's everywhere.
Also having this issue on xbox one, only when playing split screen. It makes all of the new water features completely pointless.
Same here.. affects every player besides player 1 in Split screen mode and makes all the new aquatic features not playable
Extremely annoying!
Exactly the same problem on Xbox One as well. It started at the beginning of December when the Panda half of the Village and Pillage Update came to Bedrock Edition. Player 2's water looks exactly the same on my Xbox. I also find it really irritating. When will it be fixed?!
Same problem on the Switch. It makes the new aquatic update completely useless because no one can see except me!
Is there a status on this, or a link to the bug report thats still active?
Still an issue no matter what world, resource pack or if we switch between player 1 and 2.
I'm having the same problem with xbox one multiplayer split screen. I cant even play in the water anymore. I really want this fixed... 😞
Me too! I wanted to farm squid for the ink but I have to be literally on top of them to see them, it makes it almost impossible.
I'm having the same issue. I contacted customer support and was told if I commented here it would help with getting the bug fixed. The representative wouldn't give any type of time frame as to when it will be fixed.
We are having this issue, it makes anything water related impossible. Pretty fed up of it now tbh.
Having this issue as well. Looks like the wrong shader is being applied to additional players beyond player 1? Any chance this is trivial to fix?
It's been more than one months and still no update for this?
We noticed this bug too. It makes doing anything ocean related impossible, which is all I wanted to do after the update :/
We’ve been having this issue for awhile now as well, makes being the second player much harder when trying to explore sinken ships and ruins.
Same issue. This has been around for over a month and there’s still no patch. I try to play with my sister when I come home on the weekends and this makes it impossible to do anything water related.
I can confirm that this is still an issue on Xbox One. Looking forward to when the fix rolls out!
Have they fixed this https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-34948 problem yet? I cant enjoy splitscreen when the fov and the item in hand are way too close.
Is this being looked into at this time? I know it is still happening as of 1/22/2019 and it was reported over a month ago. Do we know if Mojang is working on this issue or not??
Ugh this is so aggravating. I've bought 2 aquatic worlds and I cant do anything with them or even enjoy the beauty. It's dark blue on my screen but perfect on my husband's. I miss playing minecraft with him, I just don't enjoy playing because I cant do any under water features and that's my favorite part.
On Xbox One X this is happening both with the vendor and enhanced texture packs.
Player2, 3, 4 all see opaque water but player 1 has no issue.
Pretty obstructive for underwater play especially in terms of ruins and combatting Drowned in a split screen game of 4.
Please fix on xbox one
Hi,
Going into 6 weeks with no status on this bug. Can someone update us? That would be really nice. Thanks.
This bug has been reported to our internal bug tracker for further testing and a fix. It is scheduled to be fixed in one of the future updates (no specific date can be provided).
This also happens on the switch. Would love to see it fixed.
Thought maybe, just maybe this would be fixed on the newest update several days ago...read an older comment and agree that this bug wasn't an issue before the previous update. Please try to get resolved.

Any queries regarding refunds need to be taken up with Mojang Customer Support.
I am having the same problem non Nintendo Switch and Xbox one and it makes it very hard to play
This is also happening for me on the Nintendo Switch Bedrock edition with software 1.9.0 I believe
The issue persist in the new update 1.9.0 in my minecraft nintendo switch version. No fixed yet. I hope someday we will enjoy this awesome game again 🙂
1.9.0 Minecraft Xbox One: Only first player can see detail with in water any other player it's opaque and bad game experience.
It is apparent the updates are not addressing this issue despite it being reported over two months ago.
Please advise on a roll back procedure for affected platforms so the game is playable. Thanks.
I'd also like to know if there's a way to downgrade version to a functioning build. I keep looking at each beta patch notes hoping to see a fix. Feels as though this is low priority to them but it's highly game-breaking for multiplayer when half of the world is mostly unusable, especially after everything the aquatic update gave us. Mega_Spud, I appreciate your acknowledging that this is being worked on. Would it be possible to request a workaround from the dev team or instructions on downgrading version?
I have the same problem.
I saw in the change log of 1.11 beta that there is a fix for this. Can anyone CONFIRM?
Confirmed on xbox one x
A fix for this issue has been implemented in beta release 1.11.0.1.
Players on split-screen no longer have limited visibility underwater
We'll leave this ticket open, until the fix makes it to the stable release.
If you still experience this issue in beta version 1.11.x.x (Xbox One only) or above, please comment below.
I’m still experiencing this issue.
I am still experiencing this issue on xbox one.
The current stable release version is 1.9. And most likely 1.10 will be the next stable release.
The mentioned fix is currently only available in the 1.11 beta (not available on Nintendo Switch). Please keep in mind that the experimental gameplay option is not the beta.
Please include detailed information, if you still experience this issue. Include the version number (displayed in the bottom right of the home screen) and the console (Xbox One first gen / Xbox One S / Xbox one X or Nintendo Switch).
This has JUST occurred today...we have been playing regularly through all the updates since transferring this world from the old version! Just built a Conduit a couple days ago, swimming around and all is fine. Today though split-screen bottom...water is opaque and underwater is dark!!
We have been having this issue on our Nintendo switch for months already. We made a post here the first time we noticed it and the issue still isn't fixed??? What is the point of playing the new aquatic update if no one can see underwater? I expected a quicker fix!
This is resolved in beta 1.11.0.1, so a fix is there and just waiting for the full release of the update.
Confirmed fixed in the 1.11 beta
For any Xbox One users who would like to try the beta, please note that you cannot join anyone who is not in the beta or play on Realms. Also, although this issue is fixed, beta versions of the game can be unstable and are not final version quality, so make sure to backup your worlds before joining. Once you are ready to join, follow these steps:
Launch the Xbox Insider Hub app.
Navigate to Insider content > Minecraft.
Select Join.
Wait until the enrollment completes (Pending no longer appears in the Xbox Insider Hub).
Install Minecraft from the Store page, or, if Minecraft is already installed, launch the game and wait for an update prompt.
Hi, so I as understand with the comments so far I have minecraft v1.9.0 and there is a fix in a version 1.11.. so I have to wait as Nintendo Switch owner, 2 updates until this annoying bug is fixed? How long do we have to wait? Thanks

Sorry, but we can not provide release dates.
I can share that 1.10 is currently in certification - https://twitter.com/Chupacaubrey/status/1106582304695025664 .
As I expected, 1.10 still has this issue. Although I think it's going to be at least another few weeks before the 1.11 full release since I recently got a beta for 1.12
Fix resolves issues for me on Xbox One.
fix resolves issues for me on Nintendo Switch too
Fixed in 1.11
Closed as fixed in 1.11.
Thank you all for your input, effort and patience to help resolve this issue.
Same problem here, at first the second player was able to see under the water and outside of it but now its impossible
