Switch - Glitched Marketplace buttons and text showing some of the code

When I opened the marketplace, every category name was offer.category.skinpacks or something like that. It also affects recently viewed stuff as store.pdp.title.recentlyViewed and more.

Proof is shown in the image.
Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Minecraft (Bedrock codebase)

  2. Open Marketplace/Store

Update: You can no longer open the store or edit your character as of 1.18.30! I am currently watching if the issue for MCPE-154120 fixes this issue.

Expected Results:
It should show the category names.

Actual Result:
It shows offer.category.skinpacks and stuff like that.

Update 2:
Looks like it has been affected by a glitch (Block and Sound lag) that was patched during 1.16.101+ and it has been found on android

Update 4:
Confirmed on iOS.

Update 6:
Still broken, and is now affecting the Achievements Screen.

Happening To Me To. Im On Switch

migrated

I think it's also on other devices.

migrated

I've only encountered this on the Nintendo Switch. This is happening because the lang/language file must not have been fully completed on the Nintendo Switch. The lang file changes what something is known for in code ie: offer.category.skinpacks into what they show on display which with offer.category.skinpacks would be 'skin packs' I can't believe this is a bug something so simple as the lang file, should never have been a bug

migrated

It hasn't happened to me and Iv'e been on the marketplace recently after 1.16.1

Oddly I had this same issue and no images would load, and the text on screen wasn't the correct words, but a string of words. I ended up archiving on nintendo switch, and redownloading and seems to have fixed it for me. I had to use pc just to see the sales

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

For those affected: Are you using a particular language setting that is causing this issue?

migrated

I'm using English (US)

migrated

I had to archive and reinstall it to fix it.

migrated

I was having this issue as well. Script text instead or headings, and the pictures just don't want to load. It may be connected to the thumbnails for avatar items not loading either.

So on the switch I archived the software to clear out the old junk and then allowed it to redownload overnight. The store takes a while to load still, but once it downloaded the content again everything seems to be normal. Looks like it was just corrupted data.

migrated

US English here as well. I can also confirm that deleting and reinstalling the game resolved the issue for me.

migrated

I am also using US English. About this archiving solution, will all of the worlds on the Nintendo Switch disappear or will they be saved and show up when I re-download the game? By the way I'm on the new 1.16.100 still having the problem.

migrated

No. It'll save to the NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE CLOUD. If you don't have Nintendo Switch Online, it won't save

migrated

Ok, yes I have the Nintendo Switch Online membership. Thank you for letting me know!

migrated

I have the same bug and im on an android. i cant create any worlds and i reinstalled the game like 6 times already and its still the same. please help!

Hello

Same, I have nintendo switch online and have a microsoft account linked to minecraft on my switch (in french).

when I want to go to the marketplace, most of the time I come across a loading screen that stays on all the time.

After some time a message asks me to check my internet connection which is good (connection test carried out in the console settings and all my other games manage to go on the internet.

after a few minutes, I made a return then returned to the marketplace, there I have most of the text with things like offer.category.world or editorialtool.localization.sale! .

in addition, the thumbnail images of the items sold in the marketplace are never displayed, I instead have the image loading animation.

hoping to have been as complete as possible to help find the origin of the problem.

So, this has been found on Android and Switch so far. If found on iOS, Windows 10, Xbox, and/or PlayStation i'll update the description

migrated

Same problem here. Switch Lite with system 11.0.1, Minecraft 1.16.201 using German. Marketplace does not load.

migrated

Minecraft V1.16.220.

Bug Always here

migrated

So, it hasn't been giving the glitch for me since 1.16.220

migrated

Like to confirm this glitch is in 1.17.0.

The marketplace translation file(s) cache expires, so the translation library falls back to showing the translation key. The only "workaround" I know of is to uninstall the game and re-install it. Doing this downloads fresh translation files, which works fine until they expire again. This has been an outstanding issue for at least six months! Cache expiration is fine, but why on earth can't the translation files be downloaded again?! I've noticed other issues that seem to be caused by cache expiration too (gamertag profile images stop displaying after a while). Please Mojang, fix the cache or at least disable it! Having to uninstall/reinstall the game just to download translation files is beyond infuriating!

1.17.1 : Bug is still here (i found a fix : reinstall your game and it works but it's really annoying Mojang fix this please)

migrated

Confirmed in 1.17.2. Temp fix: Reinstall Minecraft

migrated

Well, the Summer Celebration event is here, and I still experience this bug.  Also yes, I know reinstalling the game fixes the bug, but I want to find a more non-risky fix.

migrated

@Kevin Stevens

Hey, you won't lose your worlds or anything, it's juste deleting the software but not the data, i have to reinstall the game very often and i never lose a world, even my microsoft account is connected so it's safe 😉 (but it's not a reason for Mojang, fix pls)

migrated

I uploaded another image of the bug taken on an iPad running iPadOS 14.6.

migrated

The images won't load either. affects 1.17.10

migrated

man i hate the bot

migrated

@Phoenix TF

I think we should update this ticket now that we have new details.  Since it’s confirmed to be on other devices, we should change the affected platforms from Switch, to multiple.

MinoBoto

Changing user on Xbox can force this to happen.

Step to reproduce:

  1. Open Minecraft

  2. Press Y (Change user)

  3. Select another profile

  4. Open Marketplace

@Kevin Stevens

He has been changing platform to multiple but the bot keep changing it back.

migrated

I fixed this issue. I used to have this error a lot but I found a video on YouTube that fixes the problem.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CQdWbkdiOog

Steps to fix:

1: Go to settings on the Nintendo Switch

2: Go to data management

3: Click "Manage Software"

4: Click Minecraft

5: Go to the bottom and click "Check for Corrupt Data"

6: If it dosn't say there is any corrupt data, hit the "Redownload" button (Don't worry, all your saves and worlds will still be there)

Once it downloads again, it should work. If then problem appears again, just redo the steps in order again. Hopefully this fixed the issue with you guys.

That's not a fix; that's a work-around. A fix would mean the issue stops happening for everyone.

migrated

Bot keeps changing it back to Nintendo Switch when I put down multiple.

migrated

Updated the title and platform again...

migrated

Thank you so much. I was having this issue and it was driving me nuts. I had realms plus and all my maps would not work. You are literally the best!!

migrated

My fix is archive and redownload, I'm on switch

@unknown Please do not use panels in the description, those will be used by helpers and moderators when applicable.

migrated

Ok, so um it seems like the bug has been fixed as of 1.18 coming out in December and well, now this can be closed as resolved now

migrated

Ok don't close the thing as this maybe related to MCPE-154120.

migrated

Glitch hasn't been fixed as of 1.19.1

migrated

I have it on 1.19 on switch

migrated

Can confirm on 1.19.11

migrated

Still an issue as of 1.19.22. For example, left menu in marketplace has "editorialtool.localization.gotodressingroom" on it.

migrated

I receive this error as well on my Switch Lite.
