The full, cubic model used by various entities (item forms of full blocks, ignited TNT, worn pumpkins) will randomly appear with one or multiple rotated faces.
Original report: When tnt is ignited, the word tnt and texture is rotated.
Also snow golems have rotated faces sometimes. They look demented...

I believe this is because the TNT gets updated when you do so, and the randomizing textures causes it to rotate. This also happens when you break gravel, you can see the texture move

This is mostly fixed in 1.1.0.9 - the only remaining issue that I can see is that the fuse on top of the TNT rotates when it is placed or lit:

The upper tile of TNT blocks are among those that are randomly rotated for a natural appearance. As lit TNT is an entity it doesn't receive an alternate model and the string will always face to the East. While I can't say whether this behavior is desired, the issue originally described can no longer be reproduced and this ticket can be closed.
