This is a current bug with microsoft accounts. Log out and use a mojang account.

Nope, this still makes sense. Once you click the respawn anchor, any logs of your bed being the spawn are deleted.
Hmm, must be something with the wool positioning. Hard to tell if this is intentional or not.
