MCPE-162417 Locked maps get corrupted chunks Duplicate

Comments

This has now gotten worse with 1.21.92 so the game slows to about 1 frame every 10 seconds with armor stand lag, even with the item frame holding an item where it worked ok in 1.21.90. This should be testable in the same way as already documented

Issue present in 1.21

This is breaking a number of shulker loader designs which are in high demand with the new Crafter block.  Hopefully this gets fixed urgently as it makes the Crafter less useful

Still present in 1.80.2

Even once the recipe is unlocked if you put decorated sherds in your inventory the pot recipe does not show.  The sherds have to be placed (this might be intended though as there would be too many recipe options including all the decorated ones).  But at least the recipe should show if you have decorated sherds in your inventory (and no bricks)

That might explain the huge lag spikes I've started having each time I go through a portal holding a map in my inventory.

One work around I've found for this is using the 'pick block' button/key.  That seems to refresh your inventory/hotbar and the invisible item reappears.  You don't have to be 'picking' an item in your inventory, just use the 'pick block' button whilst looking at any block.

I've been having this issue frequently on my Realm on Nintendo Switch through the last few versions of the game (including 1.19.10)

It is worth adding that this lack of parity negatively affects performance because one cause of lag on lower spec. systems (e.g. consoles & phones) is entities such as item frames, items in frames and chests.  Using shulker boxes as part of a storage room/system greatly cuts down on these and improves performance such as fps on Bedrock systems.

I'm hoping it gets added in a coming update.

I've also had this happen twice on Switch v.1.18.10 (latest hardware update too).

Just as the OP has described: tried to enter the End Portal only to stand on the starry background and not have the 'area loading' screen pop-up.  Then I get kicked from the Realm and reverted to the last backup when I log in.

This hasn't happened every time I have recently gone to the End.  It might be related to having only recently exited a nether portal?

Incidentally, this is a real pain when it happens as I'm building some farms in the End and taking lots of resources so losing 28 minutes of crafting dispensers, pistons and dyed concrete powder is really frustrating.

To reduce the risk of this happening I'm having to wait up to 30 minutes before I go to the End each time for the game to backup.  Obviously this is a very depressing way to play the game so hopefully this gets fixed soon.

(Add into this the fact that any technical farms I'm designed take even longer as I'm suffering from the bug where I can't download my realm backups)

Still having this problem on 1.18.0 on Switch.

Had this issue on 1.17.x for about a month.  I have about 200GB of space, have contacted support, etc.  Same as many other reports from others.

I now have no way of backing up a world before upgrading it to 1.18 to check changes to bedrock and chunk borders.

Please fix this Mojang, this is a major and longstanding bug for a premium feature.

Same issue on v1.17.34 immediately after updating on Switch.  Problem is also the same on Pocket Edition.  Looking at Twitter it seems to be very widespread.

Game is literally unplayable

EDIT: MojangStatus on Twitter have said they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix

EDIT 2: fixed 38 minutes later.  Thanks Mojang team!

This is a severe nerf to Bedrock players, as others have noted.  For example, with drowned-copper farms bedrock players cannot make use of the reinforcement mechanic present in Java to get faster drop rates.  Factoring in the nerf from this bug makes it really hard to get renewable copper for all console and mobile players.  Hopefully it gets a hotfix in days rather than weeks.

It's possible it's intended gameplay (maybe because there's no moisture in the Nether) but it would be good to have it confirmed as it's not been announced as a feature of copper afaik

I've also had the same issue (Bedrock on Switch), have AFKd for 8 hours with no oxidising and tested in creative with max random tick speed (4096) and still no changes
