The new update to 1.9.0 has caused a bug on every version of the game that is not the Windows 10 Edition. When trying to download a Realm world on Nintendo Switch, Android, and Xbox One X, I receive this error message:
"You are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space."
"Download failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB."
On Switch, I have 42GB of free space on a microSD card.
On my Google Pixel 2, I have 30GB of free internal space.
On my Xbox One X, I have well over 1TB of free space on an external and 300GB of free space internally.
The world in question is only about 500MB, but it is currently bugged out in other ways related to 1.9.0., so that may be related.

Possibly related to, or a duplicate of, MCPE-32501
I would say it's a different issue from MCPE-32501 since it's caused by a different root action (saving a world works fine on my devices but downloading does not) and has different error messages.
Can confirm. Same error on all my devices. It will still let me download older backups from February 24th, 2019 (less than 333 Mb). Newer backups it gives me the same error message as described above.
I also continue to have this issue on iOS 12.1.4 with Minecraft 1.10. This issue persists on 4 different iOS devices, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones all with a significant amount of free space.
Would you be able to include screenshots of the storage space taken up by your worlds on Switch please?
Was able to get an answer on this issue. Mojang is aware of the problem will be fixed on next update 1.11 set to be released on May 7th 2019
Is this really related to MCPE-32501 though? The issues are slightly different as this one relates specifically to downloading your realm, not ongoing game play where it complains about running out of memory.
Have you uploaded that world from Windows 10?
Because, I have uploaded mine from the base Xbox One and can download it back on the same Xbox. (Maybe only affects the One X) But, im getting the bug and can't download it on Android. I Have not tried it yet on Windows 10 (as I do not own Win 10) and im speculating it might not work. It might only be downloadable on the platform that it was originally uploaded from.
My world is also 709.4MB on the World select and 700.6 on the Realms backup. My Android has 3.4GB of free space.
Also, when I downloaded the world in the past on previous versions on Android the 680MB world was increased to about 950MB not fully synced. And sometimes on the Xbox One when the world doesn't fully sync after loading up the game it displays the size as 1.1GB. This could have something to do with this bug maybe?
Edit: Try a wired internet connection on your Xbox if your not wired already. Downloading might be working for me on Xbox because im wired and a wired connection might effect the download.
it’s April 24th 2019 and i’m having the same problem, I uploaded my world to the realm from my xbox one s and I want to move it to my iPad which has 90 GB left of space and the world in question is only 474.0 MB
i am having the same thing happen to me on my phone.
but on my laptop it will download up to 4 GB then all text will be gone
the world is 8 GB
and i have over 1 TB left of space
hope this gets fixed i cant keep paying
just to play on my world that I have ben playing on for over a year
This is now a problem for me on Switch.
Only have my main world, a secondary version for dual daily backups which I started taking since 1.11.4 fixed the recent crashing and a copy to explore quickly in creative. Save file size is only 832MB combined and, being the largest of them (I have several dozen games but the majority of them are 0.5 - 65 MB save files), that leaves about 23.3 GB of system memory so it's definitely not a problem with space.
Additionally, when it happened I also had to fully restart the game because all storage options in the game settings either disappeared from the menu or were locked behind the no storage message meaning even if I wanted to I couldn't have deleted anything.
Physical copy of the game and currently 302.9 GB of space on the mSD card too so even if it were an update related space problem it shouldn't be one. I bought the thing directly from SanDisk too so, while I guess it's possible, it's highly unlikely I was scammed and given a smaller size card like some do. Not that it would really matter even if I had been. No normally produced size of card would make sense to be near full with approximately 80 GB of stuff stored on it.
I play on the Xbox one and was having the same issue, and I tried every solution I could find. What works for me was right when the game loads of I immediately try to access the store before the stuff loads up and kachow good as new.
Can confirm. I’ve had this issue on Switch for months now and I’ve tried every solution I could find (even the ones in this comment thread) and nothing has worked. If I try to create a world or play an already existing world a message appears saying “you are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space”. Firstly, this is simply a lie; I have LOADS of storage space left on my Switch’s micro SD card and loads of space on Minecraft as I only have ONE world. I’ve basically been unable to play the game at all for months now. I’ve tried uninstalling and re-downloading the game and tried waiting for the game to be updated, hoping it’s a bug that will be patched. I can only assume that the problem has stemmed from me porting over an Xbox One Realm over to my Switch (as suggested in other comments)? I apologise if this has come across in a angry manner it’s just been frustrating that the game has been literally unplayable for so long now, I’m open to any and all suggestions or just a confirmation that a patch that will actually fix this is coming soon or eventually. I’m not even entirely sure if this is even the same problem as what everyone else is having here but thought I should post this here anyway just in case. Thank you! 🙂
I bought a new device yesterday... I still cant download my Realm or download A backup of the Realm... I get the same error... I did notice that if the realm back up is less the 425 mb it will let me download it. I notice tho that lately that is getting lower. I cant gind a solution. Help Mojang please
Still a thing in 1.11.4
I have 74GB available on my phone, minecraft refuses to download the realm.
I have internal 42,2 GB my phone, but all world is total 1.2GB, Negara Asia can be openned (1.006GB)
Can you catch a screenshot memory view and fake memory full pop up and world size example: Negara Asia=1.006GB? The bug can fixed, when catch a screenshot memory view?
Due to MCPE-48298
That's the thing is you can't even open a realm at this point because of how bad it is...
i have the same problems
Your device is almost out of space that Minecraft can use to save worlds and settings on this device. Why not delete some old stuff you dont need so that you can keep saving new stuff.
You are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space.
System memory space available 21.8 GB
MicroSD Card space available 47.9 GB
Minecraft was redownloaded on the sd card but it makes no difference.
Minecraft is the only game with this problem
I cant download my world on my laptop sadly' but I dont think they clear the backups every 3months I have back ups from 2018'
Minecraft is a great game but the bugs and very poor support from Mojang makes it a horrible user experience.
The worst of everything on the Switch.
I am having this issue on each of my platforms.
Windows 10,
Android
iOS,
Switch,
Xbox One
"You are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space."
Cannot download my realm world/backups.
The realms team needs to own up and make sure this bug is fixed. It is virtually impossible to properly administrate a realm with this bug in place.
You need to download your realm in order to do any of the following:
Apply behavior and resource packs.
Investigate player issues via NBT data.
Log into the world locally to examine the world for any visible issues.
Make additional local backups due to that persistent bug for crashes and lost / deleted realm backups.
How about actually treating these reports seriously and doing something about it?
I have this same issue for many months now. Can't download my realm to the switch, or ipad/iphone. It says no data storage, yet on all 3 devices, I have more then enough storage left. And Idk about pc version, but mine is on the mac.
Same issue here, really frustrating. Seems like the ability to download and save a map is a service that they are required to meet. You got my money but I havn’t quite been given what I paid for.
Happens to me too. I need to download my realm or I can’t do anything!!! Still happening in 1.13
Still affects 1.13.1. Hope this is fixed soon. Cannot download my realm to perform any local testing. I do not have access to Windows 10 Bedrock.
Affects 1.13.2 as well. I play exclusively on iPhone. I haven’t been able to download a backup for a long time, but I have 83 GB of free space on my device.
I don’t believe Mojang has a nefarious agenda. I think the bug just isn’t big enough to get much attention, despite the inconvenience to those of us affected by it. Maybe we just need more upvotes.
[media][media][media]Now that the realm plus is coming, I don't want to start paying each months. I have less then 43 days left on my subscription and want my world to be downloaded, so by that time I can close my realm. Years ago I opened it for my niece and nephew, but they don't play in there anymore. Yet I don't want to loose a world where I have build in exclusively for years. Hope this issue get resolved soon.
Just updated PS4 edition to new bedrock version and I’m unable to access any of my previous worlds, or create any new ones because it says I don’t have enough storage space. I currently have 181GB available. It’s essentially bricked my version if I try to play in anything but the old PS4 version. I’m stuck, help!
The only work around for that is having minecraft on windows.
Or find someone that has it and that you can trust with your account password to get the worlds and send it to you. I wouldn't recommend it. But at this point...
Trying to play on PS4 and getting error that I don't have enough data storage to play. Everything I have looked up shows there have been updates to Minecraft which is causing the issues but I am not seeing any fixes for this. Please Mojang, help me!! I can't play Minecraft. I have deleted a bunch of worlds but am still not able to play!
For the storage issue message on PS4, please see MCPE-58601.
I am also having a similar issue. I’m on the most up-to-date version of Bedrock for Switch. My Minecraft world is taking up about 503 MB of space. However, when I check my data management page, Minecraft is only taking up 636 MB on my system memory (not my SD card). My game crashes every 30 minutes to an hour when I am playing multiplayer on a local connection (not a realm). It always give the Switch error screen of “The software was closed because an error occurred,” but I am never told what the error is. I believe the error is the same issue others are having. When I tried to copy my world, I got the “You are almost out of storage space!” message. Meanwhile, I still have 20.8 GB of space on my system, and 52 GB of space on my SD card. I tried checking for corrupt data, just to see if that was the problem, but nothing was found. I have not tried to archive the or delete and redownload the software due to fears of losing my worlds that my girlfriend and I have put so much time into. Please, any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
This issue is still present in 1.14.2. We’re coming up on the 1-year anniversary of this bug.
Right you are, James. Hadn’t seen that one yet. I gave it an upvote and a watch.
Wow, almost 2 years. They grow up so fast.
Just tested it on my iPod, which has no saved worlds on it. Absolutely 0 GB of saves. The storage capacity is 32 GB with 19 GB available. And I still get the message that I’m almost out of data storage space. Bedrock 1.14.2 on iOS 13.3.
I’m probably beating a dead horse, but it seems to have nothing to do with how much storage Minecraft is actually using. It’s just a dead-bang error.
Pics of ever-unchanging error message, dead empty Minecraft storage folder, and iPod’s ample storage capacity.

Same issue on switch. Have 1 world, only 300mb and at least 20gb on both system and sd memory, getting space error.
I highly doubt they will fix this. It is stopping me from buying realmspace. Because I don't want to loose yet another world from not being able to download.
Why! 🤔
Greetings.
"Realm World" I think edit options are few. In other words, it may be better to have "Download" and "Replace with backup" option "Delete this backup" as the 3rd option. For example, I have 750mb map size, I think it would be tiring inside the server by backing up this map 64 times. Think about this proposition. 😉
Good day everyone.
The most devastating part of this bug, to me, is the fact that I can not repair the world if it becomes corrupted. It’s always one bug or others. Currently, there’s a bug that resets entire strips of chunks in your world, going from north to south. Any builds there are permanently demolished. Hopefully you notice in time to restore from a backup, and don’t lose much progress. But if you can’t download the world, you can’t manually repair the world. So backups and lost progress are your only remaining options. Obviously, for some of us, this would be a lot of lost time.
Not to mention, I can’t save my world and then restart my realm.
Anyway, I thought I’d be commenting today adding that Windows 10 is still affected by this bug. I’ve tried every single other device I own. All of my ipods, iPhones, iPads, and Xboxes, all with tons of storage. But I tried it for the first time on Windows 10 edition and I was actually able to download my world, finally.
This bug obviously still needs attention. But maybe some of you that haven’t tried this yet can give it a shot as a last ditch effort. Maybe some of you can let us know how it works out for you.

Is there any progress on this issue, my son has spent money on the Minecraft market place and no fix is available. This issue is over 14 months old, Mojang, please sort this out.
I have a just over 350MB realm, and I cannot download it on my Switch. It will either tell me I do not have enough storage space, or occasionally it will let me download all 350MB, then start the import only to fail and say the software closed because an error occurred.
Downloading realm works fine on Windows 10 and Android. On my Switch, I've deleted all worlds, packs, cache, checked for corrupt data, reinstalled, moved from SD card to system mem, etc...
I bought a Switch specifically to download and play my realm when not in wi-fi range. I'd settle for a "this can't be fixed" and I'll sell the Switch rather than be strung along. I have no reason to keep it if I cannot download and play my realm off wi-fi.
even though there has just been an update to address his matter, it isn't working for me. Still can't download my realm :/
I'm still getting this error. The only solution was to have one of my trusted realm members with a pc, use my account to download a copy of the world.
I believe, as at least one person in the comments got to the extraction phase, your device needs more than double the world size due to it first downloading a single compressed file and then it decompresses said file locally.
Those who are failing before the extraction phase likely have the issue where the filesystem itself does not support a single file being that large.
1.14.60 Xbox one
I’m also having this issue. Over 300 GB available of free space. Doesn’t matter what device I am logged into (Xbox, iPhone, iPad, etc)
Im still paying for the realm and if I close/cancel the realm I lose my world at this point in time.
[media][media][media]I have the same issue as well. And my game is+400mb. It still works on windows. But downloading doesn't work on Anroid/iOS/Switch even though I have space.+
Additionally realm server seems to crash if i try to upload a 400mb+ backup of the game. This really sucks...
I just started having this issue. I'm on an iPad with 50gb of free space, my Realm is about 200mb, and it won't download. I'm clearly not out of storage on any level, I only have a few worlds saved on my iPad, most of them under 5mb. I even deleted all of my other download backups of my realm and still i'm "out of storage" it makes no sense at all.
I also just got this error on my Android. My Realm is 531MB and I get this error when I try to download it or download one of the backups. I was able to download it from the Windows 10 version.
I'm having issues with this on my xbox one realm. Plenty storage space free. Also on my phone it gives same errors. Unable to make backup copies of the map unless done via computer.
[media]Happened on ALL my devices regardless of how much storage space there is left. I can't even download backups from my realm because of this even though this is an incredibly urgent matter.
Seems like this "bug" is not even a bug, it's more like a cover-up for not even backing up the realm in the first place. I am unable to download old copies of the realm which are 500+ MB in size, but I am able to download copies 300+ MB in size twice in a row.
Explain this.
Still present in 1.16, although it's rephrased to make it seem intentional. But it's definitely a bug.
OK something really really really really really really really fishy is going on here. I can't rollback the realm, I can't download the realm, I can't close the realm, I can't do anything.
I can confirm that this issue is still present in 1.16 on iOS. I received a new message as another poster did saying that the realm exceeded the downloadable limit of 426.7 MB.
I certainly hope that is not the case going forward as my realm is currently 1.5GB!
Fortunately I am still able to download my realm on the Win10 version of 1.16. But please fix this!
[media]
I know right... Since when was there even a limit of 426.7MB. Back in 2019, I was able to download copies of my previous realm which were at least 500MB in size.
Im getting the same error. This is ridiculous I need to download my realm to reset the nether chunks and I cannot download the world, restore a backup, or download a backup. This is ridiculous, and I have over 500 gb free on my device. This needs to be fixed, very frustrating. Not to mention if the realm needs to be rolled back right now it is impossible.
[media]I am also getting the 426.7MB-max message on my Android device. But my Windows 10 computer is able to download it.
This issue is honestly starting to feel like Mojang is determining how I decide to use my data. Sorry Mojang, but you do not decide anything for me.
I been playing "Legend of the Sea" game for awhile and I have only one other game world beyond that. As I went to open my game today 6-28-2020 after the 1.16 update (I did purchase the "Way of the Nether" too). Some odd reason I am now getting the "You are out of data storage space and Minecraft is unable to save your progress! Minecraft will return you the Main Menu to clear up storage space." I have no even opened another world game either.
My system can run the game fine. System and Hard drives below as follows:

I had this issue on the PS4 just last month too and I had to re-install Minecraft still didn't work to where I did a whole system reset just for Minecraft. However, a PC is another issue and at least easier, yet I do not think I need to do a drastic cleaning like the PS4. Even on the PS4 there was a lot of free space as well. Thankfully, PS4 was resolved with some hotfix?? I know it's not my system but the Minecraft bug/error that like to keep coming back. I been looking for a solution and this error an annoyance like the Herobrine villain.
Please resolve this soon so we all can play again. I do hope some of the system info. I have helps in at least system crunching numbers.
Update: I ended up getting the realm world downloaded on my Xbox one, transferring to laptop with a flash drive, and then resetting the nether. Then transferring it back to Xbox with flash drive and re-uploading the realm.
Was a major pain in the ass and took countless times of attempting to download my own realms backup/world but I did not want to upgrade my pc to windows 10 just to download and fix my realm world that I already pay for.
I’m still upset with how much work I had to do to accomplish something that should be easy given the fact I pay every month for this service.... sorry for the rant. Lol
Impacts LG V60 Thinq 5G (8GB ram and 128GB storage running Android 10). Generates the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB message on version 1.16.1. Brand new 2020 phone and cannot download my realm world. This needs to be escalated for immediate attention.
My friend tried to revert our realm to an older save because our favorite horse seemed to have despawned, but it showed the message "Download failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426MB."
I’m not able to download a backup copy of my minecraft realm world because of the size of the world, over 426,7 mb. This is incredible, beacause I have the storage space on my devices (Ipad and Iphone). How would I be able to download a copy?
[media]I have an Xbox One and I am getting the same message. There is plenty of space on my drive, with only two other games on it.
I did notice that I have several dozen backups of my Realm. Could that have something to do with the problem? Is there a way to clear the excess backups?
What is the problem that I am experiencing?
@Scott Mooney.
No. Removing any and all stored data DOES NOT resolve the issue. All saved games, resource packs, behavior packs, Minecraft market place downloads can be removed and it DOES NOT solve the issue. Formatting your whole Xbox to factory settings and only downloading Minecraft and absolutely nothing else DOES NOT fix the issue.
I started a realms trial specifically so I could transfery world due to a phone change, and now I can't download my world and the connection is too unreliable on mobile to play on realms regularly. 😞😞😞. My world is 806 MBs and my phone has plenty of space for that.
Any progress on this issue? This is still a problem. Cannot download 600MB world on iPad. Is there an alternative way to download the world for those who do not have access to a windows machine?
Not only am I not able to download my world on the Switch, Ipad or Iphone. When I came back from vacation, my realm wasn't able to renew with 2 player account, but only as a 10 player plusaccount, which is more than 50% expensive. I had opened the realm for my nephew and niece and played in it for more then 2 years, but I am not going to spent 50 Euro a year to keep the realm open. So world is gone and no longer accessible either. I find that a very bad thing.
Try switching to the world, then downloading it.
If that doesn't work, try downloading it again later.
My THEORY is this:
The realm is like a private server, that most likely reserves a certain amount of storage space for each entire set of realm data in the cloud (this includes, the account, the realm configuration data, as well as the textures and resources If they need to be attached to the world. ) AS WELL AS the actual chunk data.
I am going to guess that as the realm is explored/played on, and as multiple players log on, you are probably dedicated some additional "world" space each time you log in.
If you get close to your cap, I bet the server shuts down, and expands the dedicated storage, and then puts it back up.
I am also guessing that every so often the realm "shuts down" defragments the data a little, purges off chunks that weren't modified during last play, and then republishes the realm. (this is usually triggered by no players logging in for X amount of time.)
Then I think the issue comes in to play with their download/storage limits, and the realm is unable to allocate enough storage for a temporary copy of the world put into a zip file.
It is at this time I believe the error to be triggered from. Something about SERVER storage limits and allocation.
I wanted to download my realm world, modify the world files and republish.
I got my world to download by just getting lucky with timing, all of a sudden after I gave up on trying to download the world. The next time I went to do it, it let me.
The time after that? Wouldn't let me until I loaded the world back up and played on it for a bit.
I am horrified looking through these comments and seeing how far back this issue goes.
I would never have invested money and time and building the hopes of my realm members if I'd know that the realm would never be able to expand past a few 4/4 maps and a couple survival builds.
[Edited out rambling emotional distress. To sum up: This is not acceptable in a paid service, and is untenable for long-term realm subscription. I can't encourage exploration or building on my realm knowing that it can't be properly backed up or eventually archived for sentimentality. And because those were the only reasons I was paying for a realm, I feel properly bamboozled by Mojang.]
This has been going on for 2 years and Mojang has only been involved in the conversation twice once to ask for screen shots and once to separate ps4 players(who just recently got realms btw!) I would like to use the world I pay a premium on in the ways I see fit
Also this is the straw that broke the camels back I’m downloading my realm to whatever system you have arbitrarily decided to let me download on and cancelling my realm subscription
Please add – affects version 1.17.0. Specifically – App: 1.17.0.02, OS: Android 11, Device: Pixel 3XL.
"Download World" still throws "Download failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB."
Please add affects version 1.17.2 hotfix – specifically Android release 1.17.2.01, running on Android 11, Pixel 3XL. Symptoms unchanged from 1.17.0.02 for Android.
I have plenty of free space(109gb) on my xbox and my switch and it will not let me download a world from my realm to uplaod a differnt one..
Confirmed bug still present in 1.17.11.01 (hotfix for Android).
"Download World" or "Backups, Download" always throws "Download failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB."
Peculiar limit, 426.7, so obscure. 5 / 4 / 3 * 1024?
When it’ll be solved?
[media]I’ve subscribed Realm to transfer worlds between platform… I’ve a 800MB world that I want to transfer on switch and I’m completely stucked

Running version 1.17.34 on iPad (iOS 14.7.1), with plenty of space.
We have a Minecraft Realm we've been playing with some friends, but are trying to download the world so we have a backup, and so we can transfer it to our friends, who play much more often than we do (because that way they're not held up waiting for us to update). When we try to download the world we get the message:
"Download Failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB."
We recently lost a world that was apparently corrupted–we could never open it, though all others worked–and our families would be really unhappy to lose this one too the same way. It looks like this is a very long-running bug. Is it being addressed at all?
I reached out to Mojang support by email recently about this issue happening to me on Switch. I specifically wanted to ask if they were still aware of this issue and addressing it. They told me to try a few things specific to Switch system memory which did not resolve the problem, then said:
"I appreciate you trying all of the currently known fixes.
Unfortunately, specific technical issues are difficult to diagnose remotely due to differences with individual computers/settings, and other variables. As such, we are unable to provide individualized technical support, limiting our technical support to troubleshooting at this time.

I assume at this point they are aware that this is an issue many people want to see fixed. No idea what the status is or if there will be a solution anytime soon, which is pretty frustrating to me. Though I know this likely isn't the case, it still feels as if the hundreds of hours of work my friends and I have put into our realm is being held hostage to keep me paying for the realms access. I get that there are real people working on fixing bugs and adding new features to the game, but this is still frustrating as a consumer to be under the impression that I was spending money on a service I'd get to keep access to by downloading the world, only to have that be incorrect.

I was successful in downloading my world from the realm, finally, after 2 years. Below are the steps I took to finally get a successful download.
This is for Xbox One X, Minecraft Version v 1.17.40.
First, make sure your console is up to date with the latest version of Xbox, which is currently out as of this October.
I started by going to Minecraft game and selecting “Manage game and add-ons”. Then, I selected “Uninstall All”.
This is going to remove the Minecraft game and all of your saved worlds. Which means, you will lose anything not saved on the realm server.
Once the game, saved games, resources packs, etc. we’re removed, I restarted the Xbox completely. No fast boot up, a complete power down.
Once the Xbox was back up and running, I launched “My Files Explorer” App by Marcelo de Souza, available in the Microsoft Xbox Store. I already had this app installed from before. I don’t remember if there is a cost for it. I have no an affiliation with this app or it’s developer.
Once “My File Explorer” is downloaded and launched. I selected “Isolated Storage” to the left. Under the “This Device” tab. Then I selected, “Packages” from the top of the screen next to “Local”.
Once in This Device/Local/Packages scroll down to “Microsoft.MinecraftUWPConsole_(some letters and numbers)” and hit start to get the menu while it’s selected/highlighted and choose “delete”.
Restart Xbox as a complete power down. No fast boot up.
Once Xbox has restarted, download Minecraft from the Xbox Store. Once it’s downloaded, start the game.
Give everything the time to load. Don’t rush it. Everything has to sync.
Once, Minecraft, has fully launched and loaded go to your realm and download your world. Again, give it time and don’t rush it. Sometimes the downloading progress bar disappears. This is normal. BE PATIENT. DONT RUSH IT. WALK AWAY FROM IT, if you have to.
Once I got the successful download notification, I launched the world. The only things missing were my thrown tridents in the farms. (No worries, I’ll replace them later). Now I know my world is safe, I did, yet another, FULL POWER DOWN. Once the Xbox was up and running, I launched, Minecraft and reentered the world again. Everything looked fine.
Now, I selected the realm and deleted it for it’s final goodbye. My saved, working game is no longer part of the realm service.
I hope this helps someone.Let me know if you got a successful download.
I am a user who is playing Minecraft 1.17.41 version on Galaxy Note 8 on November 02nd, 2021.
The problem still persists, outputting the message "Download failed. The world size extendeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7 MB."
I wrote a bug report, but I said I fixed my bug by linking it.
But my bug hasn't been fixed! I hope Mojang can fix this bug quickly 😞 Or tell me how to solve it!
I have this problem on my switch, however I can download my realm on my Android no problem. I would love for this bug to be fixed soon, need to download a creative copy for so many projects backs logged now...
Same problem. I've paid for Realms for many months and want to backup my world that my friends and I have invested countless hours into. I now cannot quit Realms without losing the world. That is extortion.
My world is ~800 MB. I have >60 GB available on my phone. I installed Minecraft on another phone and tried downloading it there but got the same error again.
MOJANG - How have you known about this for 2.5 years and not solved it yet? Are there so few Realms users? This is reason enough to avoid Realms on PE.
Still having this problem on 1.18.0 on Switch.
Had this issue on 1.17.x for about a month. I have about 200GB of space, have contacted support, etc. Same as many other reports from others.
I now have no way of backing up a world before upgrading it to 1.18 to check changes to bedrock and chunk borders.
Please fix this Mojang, this is a major and longstanding bug for a premium feature.
Still not fixed... I added pictures of my switch data since I saw a request from one of the admins
Thi issue STILL happens on 1.18. this is just awful, paying for my world to be stuck in a permanent limbo
Confirmed bug still present in 1.18.2.03 hotfix for Android. Please update version(s) affected.
Reports in comments that the bug is still present in 1.18 have not been updated onto the ticket's Affects Version(s) field. Is the OP still updating this ticket?
Just ran into this on multiple platforms.
Android ARM64 - 1.18.11
Android x86_64 - 1.18.11
Nintendo Switch - 1.18.10
Same here with Nintendo Switch and Android, I have 40 GB of free space in my phone and 20 Gb on Switch, is very Sad cuz I need the back up to remplace a New realm cuz the first one I made was expired due the suscriptio
[media]n type (original 6 month but now is only available per month)
Confirmed still present in 1.18.31.04 for Android.
OP are you still updating this ticket? Not seeing updates to the Affects Versions field after the bug was seen in the wild in 1.18.10, 1.18.11, 1.18.12, and 1.18.30.
I am also experiencing this on the Switch (my only platform) - I have a total of 9 worlds, no realms, and only 2 that are >100MB in file storage size (and both <300MB. The others are all <40MB and only two are double digit size) and am, since 1.18.30 seeing this issue along with all the other issues on the Switch. I had 2 resource packs and 1 world from the marketplace (I've removed the resource packs and the error is now gone but in my experience that only lasts for about 10MB of storage space on any of the other save files) and there is 4.4GB data storage space on the system itself (no external storage). I don't understand what's going on but I have to say as a new Minecraft player the 1.18.30 update and beyond have put me off bigtime.
unable to download my realm that ive been on for over a year and have played every day with friends, and im also unable to connect to the world. is it due to the world just being too big? please fix this, this is tearing the friend groups apart!
this is happening on IOS 1.19.2
hello too all that are experiencing the same problem!
Still an issue for me on switch 1.19.21.
On switch there is this limit on the total save data, when you open the game for the first time it creates a 2gb file that will be the only space available. I started to be unable to download the world from my realm when it got over 500mb, I get the "you are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space." message despite having 0 world saved, nothing in settings/storage either. I even deleted all save data from my switch, deleted the game and download it again, nothing helps. I contacted nintendo to ask why the save file was capped at 2gb but I can't seem to make them understand my question and they keep telling me to use a micro sd card if I'm out of storage despite me telling them I got plenty of space left on my switch. I also got in touch with mojang who tried to help for a bit and when nothing worked they ended up telling they can't do anything because they only do support for java...
Confirmed bug still present in 1.19.30.04 hotfix for Android. Still gives an arbitrary downloadable limit of exactly 426.7 MB unrelated to local device capacity..
Confirmed bug still present in 1.19.31.01 hotfix for Android. Still gives an arbitrary downloadable limit of exactly 426.7 MB unrelated to local device capacity.
Confirmed still present in 1.19.40.02 update for Android. Still gives an arbitrary downloadable limit of exactly 426.7 MB unrelated to local device capacity. Tried the new Settings, Storage, Clear Marketplace Cache button, and this had no effect at all on either the problem or the number reported in the message.
Still prevailing on the version 1.19.40. My friend was trying to download the world on his realm so he can send it to me via his iPhone and iPad. However, on both devices it did not work, sadly.
Not sure if this is the same issue, but is at least similar, but I get the message that my storage IS full and will be returned to the main menu to clear storage. I have over 200mb left on internal and over 2TB on external. My world is 867mb currently. With my particular issue I have noticed a few other things that may or may not not be related. Firstly, unless I'm completely stationary, I have noticed that the auto save is constantly running, if it does stop its only for a second or two unless I become stationary again. My issue seems to only happen when I explore unexplored areas of maps (even the maps are different zoom levels of other already explored areas). Also, I just experimented and found that after exploring around approximately 80% or so of a level 3 map increased my world file size by 22mb, this was with doing nothing except moving around to 'clear' the map. Other activities, including adding command blocks for various purposes do not seem to trigger the problem. At the moment, if I clear small portions of a map, save and quit, then reload, no issue. Doing a hard reset after the problem generally has been allowing me to reload the last save, but all activity from initially loading is lost, even when auto saving seems to get taking place. And finally, everytime I save and quit, after a lengthy load period, I get the message that world upload has failed. I have Xbox One version 1.19.41.01
Actually, I'm not experiencing the issue on realms, it's on my regular worlds. Also, only started having the issue myself with the recent updates..
I can no longer reproduce the error "Download failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB." in 1.19.80 or 1.19.81, on a Pixel 3XL running Android 12. This problem has plagued me at least as far back as 1.17.0. Now I can download a 688 MB Realms backup with no problem.
Unfortunately I can't tell you what changed. I'm still on the same device and don't remember changing settings. I've installed updates as they've come out. But I've reviewed release changelogs all the way back to 1.19.41 and don't see a relevant bugfix announced.
Is this still reproducible by others?
EDIT: Thinking back, one thing I remember doing is cleaning up the old/obsolete directory /games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds
, that was left behind when the Caves and Cliffs update moved everything to /Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds
.
So it would be interesting to know if you are an Android user having the 426.7MB problem, whether there are pre-Caves-and-Cliffs files in the old directory, and if so, what happens if you clean those up.
EDIT: Still unable to reproduce, now running 1.20.30, still on the Android platform.
The bug is still reproducible and present in 1.19.81 on both my iPad Pro 11" (M1) and iPhone 12 without any way of resolving it on my own. It still shows "Download failed. The world size exceeds the maximum downloadable limit of 426.7MB". Meanwhile, even though I have more than enough free storage on my Switch, there on 1.19.81 it says "You are almost out of data storage space!"
This is a shame as I wanted to get my world from my Switch to my iPad, and it seems like even if this part worked and I ever wanted to gather my world back onto my Switch, I would still run into issues.
Edit: The bug is still present on the just released version 1.19.83.
Edit: Still affects the recently released version 1.20.10.
Edit: The bug affects version 1.20.13 as well.
This bug is still present on 1.20.1 on two different iPads running iPad OS 16.5
The bug is still present on Nintento Switch running OS 16.0.3
this would be the same reason as trying or attempting to copy worlds of your own and it fails to do that because of space running out although you or I have more storage than there ever was. So I would have to say this is also happening for me when attempting to copy worlds.
I have the same probable I have a world on realm that is 500 MB and when I try it say You are almost out of data storage space even tho I have 107 GB of free storage I google it and it said that a Switch ( which is what I have/use) has a limiter that is 2 GB and the game it self is like 1.5 GB and I don't know what to do I call Nintendo and they said to talk to mojang and they said to come here so if anyone know how to fix it plz tell me
Can confirm the same world that doesn't download on iPad or Switch downloads on computer just fine. For me, this issue only appears on devices that are not my Windows 10 computer.
Posting here in hopes this will finally get fixed. it is years later and no one is working on this. It would be great if this "feature" would be implemented. i would like to make a proper back up and also would like to know the seed for my three year old realm.
Thought I’d buy a realm to play with my friends, but here I am in 2025, version 1.21.5 and we’ve still got the same issues.
I can’t even make a new world in realms without the whole thing breaking down. And when I do manage to generate a world, I can’t join it. It says “World 1” rather than “Title” and just loads into the next millennia. Nevermind trying to upload which only ever gets a 504 or a -1 error.
Can confirm. I was trying to download my realm world and had sufficient storage for it but the message kept displaying until I did it on windows 10.
