Animated blocks do not stop their animation in the pause menu

Steps to reproduce

  • Pour out the water near you.

  • Open the pause menu (ESC).

  • ???

This also affects chests, but thats probably because it is animations in general.

This is caused also without a resource pack and if clicking on a command block you arm keeps doing the motion super fast

Also happens when you move and pause, and with items.

The block animation may be considered okay, but this should be considered as a bug since it causes non-pausing of client-side velocity on singleplayer worlds. Unsure if I should create a new ticket.

How to reproduce (1.12 pre6):
1) In singleplayer (didn't test multiplayer, i guess it's not affected), jump and while in the air hit escape (or open a command block, or a written book, same deal)
2) See the game rendering continue to animate blocks, and applying any velocity or gravity, but since the game is "paused" it puts you back at your previous location almost instantly, which causes some "shaking".

I think the best way of solving this problem is by fixing this the way I described before (that "easy" way) and marking MC-116696 as WAI, which makes a lot more sense since the advancements & statistics screens are considered to be pause screens, (and this bug has been re-opened, which inherently means that things aren't supposed to move in pause).

Can I request the ownership for this issue? Of course if user33 agrees first...

Can confirm in 24w09a. I forgot to mention that the good way of fixing this, is by somehow pausing animations from the singleplayer world and continue ticking animations for the screen only.
