When exiting a boat it will put you on top of the boat

Caused directly by the fix of MC-1489.

I thought that was intended.

Since ~1.14, I always exit on top of the boat–even if there's a block right next to it. Either a new bug, or this one just got even worse!

This bug is reproducible, in 1.14.2-pre2.

Build a 2 high tunnel in the sky and place a boat in it.  Make sure you are not "floating" in creative mode.  Get in the boat.  Exit the boat.  You will phase through the ground and fall.

Now, make the floor 2 thick.  Now when you exit you will be inside the floor (press F5 to see).  If you jump, you will end up on top of the boat.

If the tunnel is 3 high you will end up on top of the boat regardless.

This behavior is surely a bug (even if ending up on top of the boat is intended)

Confirmed for 1.14.3. Please, also, edit in the description that if you exit the boat, you'll get stuck in the boat (seems like MC-135423).

Bug is more easily reproduced when travelling at full speed and exiting the boat at shore without slowing down.  Happens about 1 out of every 4-5 tries.  Boat will disappear, player will clip into it causing super-slow jumpy movement until player is outside the bounds of the invisible boat.  Boat reappears when chunk is refreshed by travelling to nether and back or restarting, etc.

Still happening on 1.14.4, only seems to happen when exiting boat while the boat is colliding with a wall.

This is still happening in 1.14.4, but not just when colliding. It can happen when sitting still at a normal shore or even when in the middle of the ocean.

This has happened to me as well in 1.14.4, and when I tried to exit the boat there was the lag, and when I finally exited the boat disappeared. I know where it was and whenever I walk over to the location, my walking lags. I tried seeing if I could interact with this invisible boat, breaking it, boarding, etc. and I could not. Like previous comment about it occurring on normal shore, this was essentially where it happened for me.

Edit: Logged off and went back on and then I could see the boat and interact with it like normal, but regardless, was a bit frustrating

The dismounting entities and they disappear is probably related but maybe a different bug. I also experience the occasional boat dismount where the boat appears to vanish, and sometimes I even get stuck in the air above it. But signing off and back on makes everything normal. The same happens with a horse. Sometimes I get off a horse and it goes away, but if I sign off and back on, it's walking around right there.

Yes, disappearing boats is tracked in MC-101247.

1.14.4 Boats still glitch on me around 3:4 of time. When I sneak (shift) to get out I become stuck and it can take upwards of 2 minutes to finally move out of whatever I'm stuck in. More rare but associated to this is I will be teleported many blocks up and fall and die when getting out of the boat. 1 out 4 times I can successfully get out of a boat--I think the correct amount of times should be 4:4.

Why change this? It is much more convenient to end up on top of the boat than next to it when in water.
Just fix the bugs arround it, dont change the entire thing.

It was fixed to teleport you in front of the boat. By doing this, you will 1. not glitch within the boat anymore (hopfully), avoid the issue MC-153698, and 3. If you parked your boat correctly, should end up on land upon dismount now (which does work as intended now).

Yes, we know that. The bug will be fixed after 1.14.4 (read: 1.15).
