Confirmed.

Feature 😃

It also occurs when placing water or lava into a flowing water/lava block.

Added two screenshots showing this... Can someone tell me, why it is intended, just interesting? =D

P.S. And if this intended, then change of sound to some splashes would be good.

I just experienced this very bug(not really a big, imho, but more of a curiosity) several times while using 13w25c. The situation was placing water from a water bucket into flowing water and the rock breaking sound occurs for each water block that has leveled off to the same elevation as the adjacent water blocks. Can upload a video if requested-

It's Mojang's game. They can do whatever they want with it.

We decided that this wasn't as much of a good feature because of a lack of proper sounds (also fixed another nasty bug ;D). So no more particles/breaking/sounds when placing liquids into liquids.

Just noting:

I'm still seeing this issue in the offical release (1.6.1) but its not just placing a sourse block into a source block. I actualy placed water into flowing water (no source) and I still got the broken water particles and the stone sound playing.

Prefer not to answer
