The bug
When you create a slope downwards with a minecart, and at the end of the slope, put a block, then whenever a minecart (any type) rides down the slope and hits the block, it will just move into the block like a ghost.
This applies to any rail, to any block with any minecart.
How to reproduce
Build a slope of any kind of rail
At the lower end of the slope, place a block
Let any kind of minecart run down the slope
Note
Also affects curved tracks, see MC-92869.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
Shows the bug still occuring in snapshot, and also a different block location above the same track piece but one block higher that does stop the cart, despite the cart appearing to touch the block. Looks like always looking for direct left/right collisions instead of translating bounding box?
Still an issue over a year later, 14w21b.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.8.1 Prerelease 3 / Launcher version 1.5.3 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
Confirmed for
1.8.5 However the "untitled" screenshot looks rather like MC-42414 which is probably "Intended"
Can confirm 1.16.4, if there is no block under the stop block the minecart can fall through and can kill passengers beause they might suffocate
Confirmed in 13w04a.
