Note
Per comment from @unknown Mojang have been unable to reproduce this issue internally so they are asking for a copy of an affected world. If you have a world that is > 10 MB you may upload it to a file sharing site like onedrive, googledrive, etc. and share the link in a comment.
Trying to open any world or create a world brings up the "cannot connect to world" error despite the world being on device.
According to duplicate reports, this happens when the "Multiplayer Game" option is enabled.
Affected platforms (from duplicate reports):
Android
iOS
Windows 10
PlayStation 4
Xbox One

Still an issue according to multiple duplicate reports.

This is copied from my report:
Opening the worlds leads to "Unable to connect to the world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again." I am the owner, I turned multiplayer on or off, and it is not a Realm. All other old worlds work fine, and copies of these two worlds do not work either. I disabled my Xbox connection to the internet and it has the same effect. Again, I am the owner and it is saved to my console. No connection should be failing because a connection in not needed for offline and hosted worlds.
When it reaches the "Unable to Connect" screen, my internet slows tremendously. Barely any device can load webpages, reddit, or anything using internet. It appears that screen hangs and causes the internet to slow, even after selecting "Ok" it takes up to 1 minute to return to the main menu. Without much knowledge of this type, this appears to be some kind of memory/connection leak based on the long pause and slow internet.
Uninstall and reinstall did not fix this issue.
If you have a copy of the world available, you might like to upload a copy of it for investigation.
On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.
On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds
On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS. (Please do not purchase a Realms subscription just to provide a world to us - but if you have a Realm already this may be a viable option if you wish to do so.)
If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.

I don't have a realm subscription currently, and the free trial requires payment option to start. I would if I could.
Additionally, a backup save created 2 years ago (before lots of progress) loads fine. I hope someone else here has access to W10 to get the necessary saves to help this bug get fixed.

My Advanced Dragons 2 worlds give the connection error for both multiplayer and offline worlds 100% of the time. My vanilla worlds always work on offline but on multiplayer the same issue occurs about 50% of the time. The other 50% result in an odd glitching, left and right, of the screen before letting me in the multiplayer world. I am on PS4 and this only started after the most recent 2.18 update. Everything from vanilla to AD2 worlds functioned normally before hand. Restarting the PS4, logging in and out of my Microsoft account, and reinstalling my AD2 pack have not fixed any of the above issues

This is also happening to me, I tried copying the world but that doesn't work, I download a world file from my expired realm but It still wont let me in that and it says the same thing over and over: Unable to connect to the world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again. For some reason the worlds that do this are mostly because they have a lot of command blocks or behavior packs. I have a world that's over 100MB but it doesn't do that so I don't think its the world size that's causing the problem. (I'm on windows 10 1.16.100).

I am having the same issue currently. My Advanced Dragons 2 World will not load. At first I received the error above saying its unable to connect to the world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again. After deleting and reinstalling everything it now just says initializing for a few secs and then returns me to the create a world screen and nothing happens. Is there anything we can do to fix this?

I dont know if this helps but, I uploaded the same world that has this problem to aternos which is a server hoster and the world works just fine, so its not the world, I think its the game. (Im on windows 10 edition 1.16.100)

Still an issue after newest update (pS4 2.19). Template worlds give this screen regardless of being multiplayer or offline

I've narrowed down my 1.16.200 Bedrock Win 10 - "Unable to connect to the world" issue to a single template, which is Washington DC by FullBoat.
This is the same template that had this issue with the release of 1.16.100

I copied all my worlds and packs to another folder, uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft, copied them back and it appears to have fixed the problem, whether it will last is another question though.
Edit: Turns out it only allows the world to be loaded once before giving the error over and over again

I found a way to fix this stupid useless issue.
If you can't open your own world with multiplayer enabled, CONNECT TO A VPN(why this fixes it, don't ask me. I'm pretty sure theres nothing wrong with my own ip address but maybe minecraft isn't so sure). For me at least, the world will load up perfectly, and without any lag, and other players can join my world.
I'm using Android 10, playing v1.16.200

Today's Hot Fix 1.16.201, unfortunately doesn't resolve the "Can not connect to world" offline issue. At least not with Washington DC Template.
-------------------
Windows 10 Minecraft Bedrock Hotfix 12-15-2020 1.16.201
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
16.0 GB
Windows 10 Pro 20H2 - Build 19042.685
Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

I uploaded the same world template Washington DC that reports "Can not connect to world" when trying to use it on my computer, up to my Realms account and it worked without issue on Realms.
I downloaded a "copy of the working Washington DC template from my Realms" to my computer and this version of Washington DC copied from Realms, works offline and does not have the "Can not connect" issue.
I also tested Izak Chors comment about using a VPN on the templates that "Can not connect to world" via Windows 10 Bedrock and that did not resolve or change its inability to connect or work.

Still happens in 1.16.210.53

Issue with opening Advanced Dragons 2 has been resolved. Not sure how or why...

Try disabling multiplayer. And I tried this it let me open the map without this error. And may not work for you but does for me!

Hotfix 1.16.201 did not fix for me. "Unable to connect to world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again."
Reminder I haven't been able to open worlds since early November.

Multiplayer is off on my world and it still doesn’t work.

I am still having the issue as well. Tablet Android version 9. Both of my tablets have the same issue.
None of my worlds can't connect to the internet.

Seems to me there are two seperate issues here, one where the error message shows up because of invalid user ip address(workaroundable by turning off multiplayer, going offline or using a vpn) and another issue where the error message shows up because of something else

Still affects 1.16.210.54

i tried on different android devices its doesn't work

My son bought World of cars same issue and turning off the multi-player did nothing.

This issue still seems to spreading to world's that could be accessed on the 12th of Jan 2021 but not the 13th.

Still broken in 1.16.210.55

I've done some testing and have found that every time you uninstall Minecraft and reinstall it, if you go into a world that was previously affected by this bug with multiplayer enabled, you'll get the 'online play is not rated' screen, waiting about 5 seconds then accepting will skip the error, allowing for a one time load before the bug reoccurs constantly, maybe this is something to look into in regards to fixing this bug?

Issue has been temporarily closed as Awaiting Response. This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
We cannot reproduce this issue so far. Could you please upload affecter world? It will help us a lot.

Cannot upload as I am on Xbox One. I'm not able to buy a Realm Subscription to upload, and worlds are over 100 MB.
Issue is still present. "Unable to connect to the world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again."

I reported this same issue today under ticket MCPE-116314. It now shows resolved as being tracked as a duplicate to this ticket. I only have this issue with one downloaded game: Mars Protocol. All other games are loading without issue. I saw a thread about disabling multiplayer and that did not resolve the issue. I believe it to be an problem within the add ons because when loading resouce packs there is a slight skip in the screens and directly after is the "Unable to connect" error.

Just tried this as previously reported incident mcpe113590. Still having exactly the same issue.

The issue affected my world that is not online and has the festive resource pack

I am also having this issue on Xbox One when trying to play Odyssey Builder, a world that I have purchased. It has worked for over a year but has recently started showing the “Unable to connect to world. Please check your connection to the internet and try again” error. I have tried reinstalling the world and Minecraft but no luck.

I am also encountering this issue on PS4 when trying to load worlds created in Mars Protocol. I am able to successfully create a new world from the pack(and play for maybe an hour before the game crashes, but that's for another day). Any attempt to reload the world after the first time playing results in the "unable to load world..." error. Only pack and game I've encountered this or any supposed "network issue" with (the network is fine).

It may also be an issue with the log in status to Minecraft. I have been able to load the Mars Lander saved game after exiting Minecraft (check to make sure your NAT is Open), then go back into Minecraft. I have problems with double NAT in the past so I am always checking it with Minecraft.

So far this seems to have resolved itself when I upgraded to an Xbox Series X. I haven’t tested the world for any length of time but it loads past this error at least.

I am having this issue when I am trying to access some of my own worlds. I am playing version 1.16.201 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A that is up to date. This does not happen on all of my worlds, but happens consistently to the same worlds. Most recently I was not able to connect to my world created using the Mobs Pets purchased through the shop. I'm happy to provide any more info or screen shots or settings!

@unknown could you upload the affected worlds as encouraged by the description?

I would be happy to do this.
[media]Could you tell me how to find the world to upload? I went to My Files -> Internal Storage -> com.mojang -> MinecraftWorlds but the folder is empty. On the other hand when I go into the app itself under Storage -> Worlds I can see my 6 worlds but I don't see the option anywhere to export them for back up. Are they stored somewhere else that I'm missing?

Late reply, but I assume that you have world storage on Application (under Profile > File Storage Location). I found this from somewhere:
Open (the) world (you want) to transfer.
While you are in the world, change to Settings / Profile and the location to External again. Back once and save & exit. Feddich. This will save a copy of the world in games / com.mojang / minecraftWorlds, ie 'external'.
Then I guess change it back to Application if you want to, or repeat for all other worlds if you want them in the minecraftworlds folder.

OK! So funny thing about not being able to open a map, makes it hard to change where it's stored! 😉 Somehow in my messing around with it I managed to create a new version with the problem map on the external storage, except once it was created I still couldn't get in and it was still giving me the internet connection error. I zipped up the files associated with the world although as I was never actually in the world to see what was up and I've never actually done this before please let me know if this is somehow incomplete.

Thanks!!

I have regained access to my maps on April 8th. I don't know if this was an issue that was fixed, or an accidental fix. This bug is still marked as Unresolved so I completely assume it was accidentally fixed. I suggest continuing to look into how to avoid this again, as it was very disappointing to lose access to 7+ years of work for 6 Months. Thank you everyone involved with trying to resolve this bug.

I don't think that was an accidental fix. Remember that this bug tracker is not the only one they are using.
Is this still an issue for @Devin Mason Witmer, and for other users that experienced this?
The ticket will reopen when you reply.

Still an issue according to MCPE-130012.

If you have this issue then please provided a copy of the affected world as requested in the Note at the top of this report. Simply saying you have the issue without providing the requested information does not help to solve it.

Will the link be private? because i don't really want people to download the world. If not then i am going to try and make a new world with the unable to connect bug.

You can create a private report (set security level to private) that includes the link and mentions this report, then put the report number in your comment here. Only moderators and Mojang will be able to access the private report.

It seems if you are playing with addons for a long time that the world will get the unable to connect world bug. I have a world that is working fine. But when you add the addons on the world after a few minutes / world exploring the world will not be available anymore. I am going to add the world without the unable to connect bug to the private link to investigate.
