Stuck on downloading packs screen for multiplayer

Me and my friends have a Minecraft Bedrock world we often play together. I own the world on my PC we have around 20 addons applied to the world. After the 1.19.62 update my friends are unable to join the world. They are stuck on the "Downloading packs" screen with the download progress bar getting stuck. We have tried PC to PC connection and PC to Xbox (Xbox one s and Xbox series s) connection and they both do not work. We have removed all addons and they are able to join however we have tried to add each addon one at a time to find any broken addons but they all work fine we have also tested them all on two other worlds and they all work fine. Only when they are applied together and my friends have to download them the bar is stuck and they are unable to join. We do not think it is a problem with the addons as they are all compatible currently and this only started after the 1.19.62 update. Prior to the update all systems worked just fine and they were fully able to join with no issue.

Could you determine if there is a specific number of addons or total MB size that triggers the problem?

My friends can not join the moment I add a texture pack OR custom block pack, it does not matter what size the pack is.

It does not matter if I only add the texture pack or only add a custom block pack or add both, my friends simply can not join.

(Extra note: One of my friends who plays Windows10 can join my world and has no issues with any of the packs when they are added.

The moment that I load the world to a realm and use the texture pack my friends can join. Custom blocks I cant check in a realm as I cant put the packs on the world when it is a realm.

Hi, this sounds like an issue with Marketplace download cache, similar to MCPE-54531. Please try the troubleshooting steps provided there and see if that helps.

If your friends are on PC, have them try these specific steps:

  1. Using the file explorer, navigate to C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\minecraftpe

  2. Delete the "DownloadTemp" folder;

  3. Retry joining.

That should sort things out if it truly is an issue with marketplace cache.

Two days ago when 1.19.63 released my friend on console was able to join, downloading the pack took a while it at least worked.

A day after the problem returned and ever since he has not been able to join anymore.

I also noticed that it seems to be more a console issue as PC players can join my map, even though for them the pack downloading is slow.

Also going to settings and deleting cache/packs and hardresetting the device does not solve the issue.

Another update, my friend on console was able to join again, only this time half of the textures loaded and others were puple/black this last part is already a longer issue with the game.
Because it only loaded half of the pack the dowloading did go fast.

I have made a world for replicating this issue, it has 5 dummy resource packs of 50MB each. I tested with Android 9 joining Windows 10 through LAN and it has worked, it got stuck at 180MB~ in my case.

Due to the file size I have uploaded it here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/2vglmu6p83uukez/Multiplayer_Packs_Download_Bug_-_Test_World.mcworld/file

Note: When importing the world, the import message may not appear right away, you just have to wait a bit more if that happens.

Is there any update on this bug? It is still a massive issue for me and many others.

Has anyone resolved this issue? This issue seems to be affecting a few other bug reports after testing. It seems as if the device you’re on affects at what point the download stops. I tested with a series s and it always stalls at around 25-28mbs then freezes or crashes, with the series x it freezes at around 40mbs and pcs seems like it varies depending on how good your specs are. Addons that use custom textures (such as some of the marketplace ones like the naturalist addon) seems to glitch out the download when joining as the other player. This issue is also linked with realms so if the host of a realm has addons that take up 40mbs, only good pcs and series x consoles seems to be able to connect without any issues. I tested this for many hours so it all seems to link to data dump or something to due with cache?

If you really want to get people into a modified world before this issue is fixed, try applying your add-ons in small amounts, 2's & 3's seem to work for me pretty well. Have others join and install the add-ons that way, and it should work. Repeat this until all add-ons have been installed and they should be good.

I think you'd need to repeat this every time you reload the world however. Another fix is to host a realm, as this issue doesn't affect realms, but obviously that's not an option for everyone.

Hope it's fixed soon, this one's annoying.

Hi!

Does this issue still occur on the newest version of the game?
Can you list the addons that are being used if yes?

This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
