MCPE-186726

Entities (Armor Stands, Villagers) drop down one block when reloaded

Steps to reproduce

  1. Place armor stands

  2. Fly away so that the armor stands are outside of simulation distance.

  3. Save & quit.

  4. Reload the world.

  5. Fly back to the armor stands.

  6. Make a nether portal and go into it.

  7. Once in the nether, return to the overworld.

Expected result

The armor stands stay on the blocks where you placed them.

Observed result

The armor stands drop down inside the block where you placed them.

armor stands drop down one block whenever i use a nether portal

So i found out that whenever I'm going back of the nether my armor stands are one block lower every time, this happened in my minecraft single player world, vanilla without any mod or texture pack.

Lol, the same thing is happening to me in my survival, I'm not the only one anymore, thanks

GoldenHelmet

Confirmed that armor stands are dropping down by one block. This happened on my realm without using a nether portal. I suspect is only visual, but I haven't confirmed that.

Since we can only track one issue per report I have removed the information about parrots.

Hey GoldenHelmet, is it true that in a new world this bug doesn't happen?

JervieA20

I could also affects with Android, This also occurs some slabs.

_Arista_05: I was able to reproduce this in a new world. I have expanded the steps that worked for me. It seems to require relogging far enough away that they are not loaded immediately when you relog.

Same here, tried loading an older save from my world but same thing keeps happening ! (Bedrock; Survival)

This bug started together with another bug, my tamed parrots (sitting down in a glass cage) are all freed & flying around! (every time)

Can confirm, this happened multiple times when going in and out of the nether in my base.

  • all nearby armor stands fell down by one block even through ceilings

  • all nearby parrots (they were sitting!) teleported to me

  • even fish that were fully enclosed in tanks somehow teleported out of their tank all the way into the nether portal and they all died there

This bug has been happening since 1.21.30

I can confirm that armor stands dropping down one or two blocks.

I tried to remove a row of armor stands by hand that was burried 2 blocks in the ground on my survival world.

I cannot tell if I did something else.  (e.g. using lava/water flows)

But the game keeps spawning in / duplicating the row of armor stands with armor every time I save/relog.

This results in to many entities and massive lag in the spawn chunk.

Luckily I had a savegame backup before this bug and there I removed all armor stands from the world.

The movement is actual, not visual. I had to dig down and find all armor stands, which broke and dropped items once rescued from stone. As armor stands are also affected by gravity, they'll fall farther to the ground if moving down moves them into air blocks.

It's more than just Armor Stands-

I've encountered this with Allays, Chickens, and Armadillos too- though the bug is not as consistent as the Armor Stands. They don't do the exact same thing as armor stands but I'm sure the two are same bug, or at least related. Each of the listed mobs were in a 1x1x1 space and somehow they all no-clipped out. The Allay was against a glass pane while the Chickens and Armadillos were contained in 1x1x1 space but they were also standing on carpet. (I'm on iOS)

I strongly believe that this issue could be related to or caused by MCPE-180268. What I believe is happening is that the gravity simulation for entities begins before the world or chunk is fully loaded. This causes entities to fall, then be covered by the terrain. This is just a theory though.

I have had this issue with armorstands as well, started with the .30 update. Happens on the BDS server I play on, and occurs during load times, first noticed it when loading back from the nether, but could also be on world load as well. Have had reports from my community that it is also occuring on realms, and on single player worlds.

Regarding the comments about other entities clipping through blocks. I have experienced this with villagers, also happening only on world load / nether portal use. For non-armorstand, living entities, this is not causing clipping through the ground, but is causing mobs to clip through adjacent blocks, and get out of the area's they are intentionally trapped in. This happens to me 100% of the time with entities that are on a chunk border, and 0% of the time on non-borders. Specifically, they are clipping across 1 chunk to the other. I have not observed if this only happens in 1 direction, but it does happen on the N/S and E/W borders

Regarding Prowls comments about entities clipping, I've been experiencing this since 1.20 in my iron farm design which has villagers side by side separated by trapdoors. One villager could clip to a specific side. Also on the same corners prowl mentioned.

Oh, LET'S GO! This is the first bug I support and it ends up being solved, excellent. Btw it was so close to I was the one to report the bug, but the dear monibl beat me 🤣

While this issue seems to have been addressed by the 1.21.32 Hotfix, like MCPE-42310, I believe the solution was only a band-aid fix. It does not actually address the real issue which is MCPE-180268. In addition the changelog only mentions this fix being applied to armor stands even though villagers, tridents, and other entities are also affected. To be honest I'm quite disappointed that again, Mojang has chosen the easy solution rather than the one that will do the most good overall.

As another user commented, this bug fix did not fix everything in its entirety as it relates to entities “disappearing”. My villager trading hall is missing half of the villagers as of this morning. They were all there last night. It seems like the nether portal at my base is causing the issue because the villagers that have disappeared are all on the side closest to the nether portal. Additionally, I have a nether portal set up close to a Blaze farm and I still occasionally notice the trident has glitched through the floor. Same with another XP farm I have close to my base that is close to a nether portal.

It happened again in version 1.21.31.

The frequency of occurrence has decreased, but it doesn't seem to be a fundamental solution.

Shouldn't it open again?

GoldenHelmet

Based on comments that entities other than armor stands are still glitching out of enclosures, I have reopened MCPE-186753 as the parent report for that issue. This report will remain resolved as Fixed. Myself and another moderator have not been able to reproduce armor stands falling down using the steps in the description. If you can reproduce that, please make a new report with exact steps and, if possible, a video demonstration.
