Update on this issue by [~Mega_Spud]:
In the majority of cases missing sounds on Windows 10 is due to missing or outdated drivers. There are some troubleshooting steps that can be tried in this comment. Please try those, and let us know if this resolves the issue.
I just recently installed Minecraft for Winodws 10 via the Microsoft App Store.
I have no sounds at all in game and the game also does not appear in the volume mixer.
I have tried searching several forums for a solution to this issue.
I have updated Windows 10, my sound drivers, my motherboard drivers, and Java.
I have tried running the game with "Exclusive Mode" checked and unchecked in audio properties.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
I have tried disabling all audio devices except for one to see if it preferred a specific audio device.
I have tried the game in stereo and surround sound.
F3+T, F3+S, F3+S+T, all do nothing except open a chat window.
The volume is all the way up in the game.
There is not setting for "mipmap" in the version of the game I have.
And yes, I have tried turning it off and on again.
I have been trying to figure this out for hours.

Additionally, you might like to try the following solution from this Reddit post:
Install Windows Media Player 12 (some say it can be that Minecraft needs the sound codecs that are included in WMP12)
Install Media Pack Feature for windows 10 (this pack was the one that actually fixed the problem for me, now I have both sound and effects in the game)
After following all the steps, try to reboot your computer as well if it still does not work.

Usually I am able to minimize the game and go back to it to fix the sound issue, but this workaround isn't working anymore with the 1.13.0.2 beta

This will happen to anyone running the Windows 10 N edition which doesn't include the Media Pack.

Someone help me please i tried everything here and nothing worked.

Any updates on this issue?

Once again i have tried have tried everything and i still have no sound, even on my second computer. I have not gotten any help from Mojang or Microsoft, which is pretty sad because there is other people with this issue too. Having a huge part of a game like sound unavailable and reaching out to the respectable places to get help, but not getting any is really disappointing.

I am having the exact same issue and I have tried all the solutions and I still have no sound. This is a huge problem. when will this be resolved?

I am having the exact same problem, I have tried all fixes posted on reddit and on other websites with no help.
I have sound in all other windows 10 applications but for some reason Minecraft has no sound.
This may not help but when I have the text to speech chat option turned on, I can hear the text to speech but no other Minecraft sounds work...

I never had sound on Minecraft Windows 10 edition. It's eery in complete silence right?
Just wanted to share that this solution from the recommended troubleshooting steps above worked for me:
Install Media Pack Feature for windows 10 (this pack was the one that actually fixed the problem for me, now I have both sound and effects in the game)
Good luck guys x

any other news on this. seems mad that so many people are having this issue. ive tried everything

well i have fixed this now for me.. what i did was a reset of windows 10 but keeping my files.. i now have sound.

I am having the same issue as well. I have tried all the methods in this thread and others but still nothing. I'm not sure if this will help at all but when I check out my volume mixer in the system tray it shows the sound levels bouncing on Minecraft. I assume that means its trying to send sound. I have tried 3 different devices, Arctic 7 usb headset, hdmi output to my monitor and the built in realtek sound card.
My specs are.
Motherboard - Asus Rog Strix z390-e gaming
Processor - Intel 9900k
Video Card - Asus ROG Strix 1080 GTX
Ram - 32gb G-Skill 3200mhz

The sound intermediately works for me. The sound was working before I went to work. Come home from work turn my laptop back on and now the sound doesn't work now.

If you are on a PC and have recently updated to Windows 10 version 2004, the following story might be informative.
After upgrading to version 2004, I began having shifting problems with my sound. Immediately after the update, my headphones worked but my speakers didn't. The Dell Audio application no longer showed the preinstalled audio hardware, so it appeared that drivers included with the system were no longer installed. I got the speakers working using the Control Panel Sound settings and a system restart.
Then, a couple of days later, my headphone stopped working. This time the Dell Audio application showed the preinstalled hardware and I could fix the problem with its settings.
My guess about what happened is that the Windows update disabled or replaced an audio driver. Then the Dell system scanner ran (it's on a once per week schedule) and reinstalled the driver, but I still had to reconfigure it properly for my headphones.

I am also having this problem. I have followed so many "fixes" multiple times in hopes that it'll work. I have gone through about 10+ google pages full of forums posts trying to fix this. Multiple people have created posts wanting help with this but they just get redirected to this one post. This has been an issue since 1.11 and still no fix?
Anyone else coming back to this post once a day in hopes that there will be a fix?

@unknown: I tried to learn more about your problem and what device you're using by searching for a prior report from you that was "redirected to this one post", but it appears that nothing has ever been posted from your account. I can't promise anything, but give me some details and I might be able to suggest something.

I’m having the same problem as the OP to this thread/ticket. I have no audio coming from MC Bedrock. I have followed every potential fix mentioned in this thread but nothing has helped. The only time I see any activity coming from MC in the volume mixer, is when I turn on text to speech (but I only hear the text to speech, no game audio).

You haven't given me any useful details about your computer, audio hardware, drivers, or what you've already tried. Have you even tried to solve the problem yourself? If not, I suggest you look for help first on your manufacturer's web site, because these problems usually aren't bugs in the game, they're out of date drivers.

I had this issue for a while and tried doing all of the suggested steps to get it to work and none of them helped my situation. The only thing that ended up fixing it for me, was a fresh Windows 10 installation. I'm guessing something happened to my OS installation and either an old driver was causing an issue, or some directories/files were corrupted (or had their permissions messed up). I am adding this here for those who still experience this issue under the assumption that it is directly related to the game or a driver, it could be related to something else. Best of luck to all those whom are still experiencing this issue.

If there was a simple check in the installer and/or game that surfaced a notification about the existence of the Windows Media Pack it would likely rule out a lot of these instances where it doesn't even show up in the sound mixer. There's currently no indication that the game even requires it while other games work perfectly fine on the same system so it's rather misleading. This pack isn't included in a number of different versions of Windows (At the very least the N and KN versions) but can be installed after the fact as a free add-on. Many games check for and can install dependencies (like DirectX), I see no reason why MC wouldn't offer to install the media pack since it's from MS.

Agreeing with the OP here, I have done everything under the sun to try and fix this issue.
There has not been one forum or website that has fixed this problem. Not on Reddit, not on Microsoft, not on Mojang, or any tech websites to fix the audio issue.
I have re-installed, re-downloaded, re-updated every single sound driver, windows 10, motherboard, java, everything that could interfere: nothing has changed.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game does nothing, disabiling audio devices to rule them out has brought no solution. In sound mixer, Minecraft is present in audio, but it produces no sound at all.
F3+T/F3+S do nothing except move the character or open the chat window.
This started happening ever since 1.16.1 came out, and I have not found a solution either.

I too am having this issue with Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock). One day the sound just stopped. I have a wireless headset that uses its own sound driver, a built in sound card and audio through HDMI from my graphics card. I have tested it on all 3 devices and nothing. I then opened up volume mixer and the sound control panel on my second monitor and watched the sound levels to see if Minecraft was outputting sound at all and there was nothing. I even purposely ran into a creeper to make sure something loud happened and there was no sound output from the application.
I have made sure to update all my drivers (They usually are anyways) and even reinstalled the media codec and windows media player. I don't know what else I can do at this point. Minecraft is literally the only application that has no sound on all of my sound devices.

It has been quite a while since we submitted this report to the developers. It might be a good idea to get in touch with the Community Managers to ask for an update and nudge them into a little more action. This is not a common issue and it only occurs on Windows 10, so it might very well be hardware related or perhaps a DirectSound issue. The developers might need your help finding the problem if that's the case.

after the last update 1.16.20 for windows 10, the game lost the audio, and i tried all the ways, and even then, nothing ..

This bug report is specifically for instances where there is no sound at all from the game. If you have sound at least part of the time, then you do not have this bug.
I know that we already have a report about seemingly unbalanced sound levels, and we might also have one about sound that starts out ok but stops during play, so please search for those and add your comments there. (If you can't find a previous ticket for the latter case, feel free to create one following the Issue Guidelines.)

Hey guys I've had this problem for about a year and some change and tried every suggestion listed here to no avail the only way i managed to fix it is by repairing my windows 10 through a creation media tool from Microsoft website which is incredibly simple to use and no loss of data or settings and for me only took about 20-30 mins.
Download media creation tool from Microsoft website you will need some form of mounting software to mount the ISO image before hand make sure to follow the steps to REPAIR windows 10.

i have same problem today, helps please..

This is certainly not resolved and I have the same issue for Minecraft Java 1.12 and below, however I can´t create a new issue because only new versions are accepted. All drivers are up to date and it worked one year ago.

Also still seeing this issue after trying the resolutions mentioned above. Other applications audio works, just not Minecraft on my windows 10 pc. Sound does work on my windows 11 laptop and on my switch and android. At this point I've reinstalled and updated drivers so many times, I'm not sure what's left to try.
