Command Block not updating unless messed with or powered.

Note

Many reports of command blocks not working correctly after switching modes are based on misunderstanding the command block UI. Before concluding that you are experiencing a bug, please read the following statement from @unknown's resolution of MCPE-20304:

The information shown at the bottom-right of the UI is in fact part of the 'Previous Output' -
this section shows the state of the block when it last executed a command. If you change the block type options on the left and then run a successful command, you will then see the previous output information in question update.

If you have a video or a world save that shows a command block not working correctly, please attach it to the ticket. A screenshot is not enough to show that the command block is malfunctioning.

Are command block’s settings on the right not supposed to update with the display below previous output. I have had this issue for a while. It affects the state of the command block, too. Only way to fix it is to mess with it and power it until it works.

I have also been experiencing this problem and what works for me is to set the command block to: repeat, unconditional, needs redstone. Then I type in a random command such as “say hi”. Then I power it using a redstone block and the command block works again meaning it can be switched to whatever type, condition and redstone you want.

same issue here but on the PC. the extent you can program with this bug in place is having a repeat command block set to always active. anything more advanced such as IF statments or anything to do with chain blocks is impossible. nothing works. however when tried on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch everything works perfectly. hopefuly this will be resolved in the 1.16.2 hotfix. until then if you want to program then try it on another device and turn it into a realm and then download it onto your other device. i've found that is the only way to make it work which is unfortunate.

Make sure you have the command blocks facing the right way.  I didn't at first until I experimented.  It is a bug that the chain command block is listed as an impulse command block though.

I am still having the same issue on 1.17.2...

I thought I was experiencing this bug, and recorded this video:

However, I could not reproduce the behavior in another world, even using the repro steps give in MCPE-124195.

Looking at it a second time, I discovered the problem. The redstone torch shown below is "hard-"powering the repeat command block. Since the repeat command block is a powered solid block, it "soft-powers" or activates the impulse command block. As long as the impulse command block is activated, it does not respond to another redstone signal. After I broke the redstone torch it worked as expected.

Can anyone attach a video or world save with an actual bugged command block? A screenshot is not enough to demonstrate that it is not working correctly.

Patch notes for 1.19.11 appear to have cleaned up the issue in my last comment.

Affects 1.19.20 and 1.19.40.20

This bug has caused a lot of confusion for myself & others. Reproducing is difficult because it's inconsistent. Sometimes I'll control pick-block a command block, power it the same way I had the original, & it won't do anything. I have to fiddle with the parameters to get it to function as a command block should.

Coty A Nolen: This is a Bedrock Edition bug report. Please search for a report in the Java project (MC) for your issue, or create a new one.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working as Intended.

Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
