My game continuously crashes when I increase my texture pack resolution to 128x. This is something I did not experience before the new Nether Update.

I am also facing the issue in the same conditions explained by Damien Roch. But I am using PureBDCraft, which works in x64 but randomly (very often) crashes in x128 and x256 resolutions.

Same issue here, with VanillaBDCraft 128x

Hello, I am on Windows 10 edition and I also have issues with some packs (not all) with resolutions >= 128 pixels. I mainly use VanillaBDCraft and it makes the game crash very often. This didn't happen on 1.14.
Also, I'd like to say I have a high-end computer (16 GB RAM, 1080ti GTX nVidia, AMD Ryzen 7 2700) so I bet it's not a hardware related issue.
(more info) Maybe that's nothing related to the issue, but when I was in 1.14 with that computer I could play in SOLO survival with a render distance of 96 chunks without any trouble or lag. Now in 1.16 I had to reduce my render distance to 48!! 64 is playable but I get FPS drops at some places. Maybe changes in the rendering system could have broke some resource packs too?

Same issue here with Vanillabdcraft on W10 edtion

I can confirm the issue still exists on W10 edition in 1.16.10

Yes I confirm too, I'm using VanillaBDCraft on W10 Bedrock edition 1.16.10.
Step to reproduce:
Go in parameter
Go in Global resources
Enable VanillaBDCraft
Click the wheel to change the VanillaBDCraft resolution
Set it to 128x or 256x
Go back to Main menu
( Sometimes it crashes here )
Restart the game to make sure the changes are effective
Start a world
( It crashed during loading, on "Load resource pack" )
Is this an issue in the latest version? (1.16.20)

I just tried and yes it is.
I tried to enable Windows pagination file (swap equivalent), on a system with already 16GB RAM (we can think that's a bit overkill) and it doesn't crash with it enabled.
After looking a bit closer at the game memory consumption it seems there is a big RAM consumption spike at game startup (something like 7GB memory and cache together), and a huge spike at world startup (10GB+), the game crashes at this moment so I think it overflows total memory. And then, if the game didn't crashed the memory consumption is reduced to something normal when the world has finally loaded.
All of that happen when using a 256px resolution pack (VanillaBDCraft in my case).
I don't think this memory consumption spike is normal and it is probably the source of the issue in my opinion..

I am experiencing this issues on my xbox one x when trying to load a world

Same issues with ×256 PureBDCraft on PS4 (1.16.100)

Same issue with VanillaBD on ps5. x256 always make the game to crash. x128 loads sometimes but only on regular worlds, not on realms. Realms seems to always set back resolution to max (x256 in this case), and makes it crash.

Having this issue on the Switch. Changing the resolution down does not help. I've tried multiple packs included in realms and they crash on the Switch. Seems to be ok on Android. It will log in and then maybe about 10 seconds it will totally crash the game and end up on the home screen.
The slider for the resolution change is kinda wonky anyway, upon re-opening the game from the crash, it usually reverts back to 128x even if you had changed it, exited settings, and returned to verify it stays at 64x. It's either not working properly or resets after the game crashes back to 128x.

Switch v1.16.201

I mainly use the hattoricraft texture pack because I am disabled/special needs and get bad headaches when using the original (default) texture pack. Lately since the last forced update it has not been loading properly and it loads the start menu but when trying to connect or play in worlds it loads then instantly crashes. For now I am having to use the Chinese garden pack which helps some but still gives me headaches as the textures are similar to the original (default) texture. I have contacted the Mojang people but have yet to hear back. I'm not sure if it's a bug so that's why I'm posting here.
UPDATE: i finally got a response from mojang about the issue. while the links didn't help much I was able to get it working again by dropping the resolution to 64. the advice was posted on other social media. I am not sure if this was from the dev who made the texture pack or if it was someone else who was having the same problem as me. It appears to have been fixed for now.
this is from my ticket post on the same problem. if you reduce the resolution to the lowest that does seem to help best but still the texture packs should work at any resolution and they don't always do which causes problems. I'm using Nintendo switch lite by the way. I had been having problems though since the nether update but at first it would only crash occasionally (as in some days it would work others not) but with every update the problem became more frequent until the December forced update when it didn't work at all.

Since the nether update, I have had repeated issues with Chroma Hills HD texture pack. All other texture packs i use are fine. This only happens when attempting to use Chroma Hills HD for the nintendo switch.
Whenever a world loads, it immediately crashes within 2-3 seconds. I have tried with existing worlds and brand new ones.
I have attempted the following:
1) Changed to 64x
2) Deleted and re-downloaded in marketplace
3) Created new worlds
4) Loaded world with different texture pack or no texture pack, save and exit, then apply Chroma Hills afterwards while disabling the other texture packs.
5) After it crashes the game, I'd relaunch minecraft and reload the world 30x in a row hoping.
Every single attempt I have had resulted in it crashing within 2-3 seconds of the world loading. This has been going on since the nether update on the nintendo switch. I'm quite frustrated with this.

I tried the resource pack again after the update last night. Still crashes instantly even on 64x on the nintendo switch. Chromas Hills HD is still unusable. I again did the following:
1) deleted and re-downloaded
2) change settings on global and world to 64x resolution
3) brand new world and re-apply on existing worlds
4) repeatedly tried 10x to launch the world, kept crashing within 2 seconds each time
This has been going on for several months. Please refund the money and take down the texture pack if its not fixable. Its not fair to charge customers money for a service they cant use. It would be one thing if there was open communication like, "hey we are working on solving this issue and identified a few potential causes, bear with us for the next month while we work on it."
Instead we are completely in the dark, no idea if this is heard or being worked on and got our money stolen. Services are not provided thus it is theft.

grungebdcraft crash all the time, i can play maybe 5 min then it crash and don’t open again, keep crashing all the time

I`m using pureBDcraft and on the 256res the center of my base gets single digit fps now where it use too usually drop too high 30s or 40 fps.

*If i have pack in game and realm do not require any pack, i can't use my pack on this realm? (PS5)

I am experiencing this issue on PS5 with the Jolicraft HD texture pack I just purchased. The game crashes upon loading of a world when I am trying to use the 128x version. If the 128x version is set as a global resource, the menu changes and the game does not crash. The crash only happens when trying to load a world.
Also, don't you think it is not ok to advertise texture packs on the marketplace as 128x when you can't even use the 128x version because the game then just crashes? That's false advertising.
It's been 2 years. As a studio funded by a multi billion dollar company, you should be ashamed of your programming skills!

Jolicraft HD crashes on switch even on lowest setting 16
I can confirm, I experience the same issue since the Nether Update (1.16 and 1.16.1) on Windows 10 Edition.
I use VanillaBDCraft, it crashes on 128x and 256x resolution, but it does not crash on 64x resolution.
I already used it before, and it NEVER crashed in 1.14.
