Oh me too in 26.2 since 26.2-pre-2
And i meant it is still happening since 26.2-pre-2 whoops
oh shoot nevermind.. i tried this in 26.1.2… but still why is this happening?
Btw the OpenGL is 4.6.0, Vulkan is 1.4.348(Detected in Minecraft but 1.3.275 in Linux), and the Kisak-PPA Mesa is 26.1.3 with iHD, i915, Iris, i hope it doesn’t only affect in my system too… maybe i’m the only one that may have cause this problem to exist in Minecraft, is it possible to quadruple check so i can finally play Minecraft perfectly in peace without worrying about this happening ever again? In 26.1.2 i don’t see this happening and the ambient occlusion is absolutely perfect there like seriously 100% legit perfect, why is 26.2 isn’t?
i did this in 26.2-rc-2 and seems like MC-138211 and MC-148689 might have the same issues here i think maybe and i started my own: MC-308740 not realizing these things exist
i did this in 26.2-rc-2 openGL(i hope not in vulkan too)
i tried making this in creative superflat world i think, this is the result of what happened… try to reproduce what i just did here, i tried tihs in OpenGL in 26.2-rc-2.. i hope it’s not the same for Vulkan or they might be having the same visual issues too.
the environment is in OpenGL in version specifically 26.2-rc-2 btw…
I did try to do it in creative superflat world i think, this is the result of what happened… try to reproduce what i just did here… i think it’s not just natural generation of caves.. it includes generally everything!
I see thanks i already upvoted those in MC-43968 and also even in MC-138211 and MC-148689 and discovered more when i updated it to 26.2-rc-2 and decided to recreate it myself by following these steps..: Step 1: Create any kind of worlds, Step 2: Create these mind blogging white concrete blocks build and then Step 3 expect to see this below:
i hope this only affects snapshot versions and not the official releases😅️
Still affects in 26.2-rc-2, this is exactly the same issue i have.
The following screenshots here are from 26.2-pre-5, 26.2-pre-6, 26.2-rc-1 and then in 26.2-rc-2
Still affects in 26.2-rc-2
Update regarding Graphics APIs: I tested toggling back to the standard OpenGL graphics API in 26.2-rc-1. Switching to OpenGL caused a steady -10 FPS drop across all gameplay scenarios compared to the new Vulkan API implementation in maximum graphics settings possible and better consistency frame rates in Vulkan compared to OpenGL. I am running an aggressive low-end Linux optimization stack with my manually compiled libraries. Still the literal ambient occlusion/shadow line splits persist, but the Vulkan renderer is providing significantly better frame delivery on this Celeron hardware than OpenGL despite the visual shading artifacts.

My true intentions of this is i’m trying to squeeze every single performance out of this low end cloud server database-focused laptop that probably came from the Japanese GIGA School Program. Now i’m in the hands of this one in the Philippines.
I hope the smooth lighting would be perfect because i’ve been seeing it imperfect since day 1 and should be removed immediately..😢
Ambient occlusion should appear smooth and consistent without obvious visual artifacts. While the ambient occlusion appears inconsistent. Some surfaces show unusually dark patches, abrupt shading transitions, or breaking artifacts while mining blocks(i think that disappeared after the following snapshot releases) that become noticeable while exploring caves. Ambient occlusion sometimes looking wrong on corners and the shadows are sometimes darker than neighboring faces, weird shadow gradients that split in a line in-between blocks. I expect this might be natural to happen during development process so maybe my weird ahh bug report should totally help.
i mean less than 10 stars***
How to recreate this bug…?: Step 1: Create a minecraft world(not superflat, but can be amplified). Step 2: Go to a cave and maybe this is a weird way to find out, give a rating of how the ambient occlusion looks like inside your thoughts and if it’s less than 7 stars that’s it… this is the problem i guess, i’ll give the ambient occlusion 6.5/10, it was innocent looking at first but when i go deeper mining the caves i can see why..
oh well they released it with 26.2 anyway…
