I'm having the same problem on Galaxy Note10+ (model SM-N975U; kernel 4.14.190-23295036-abN975USQU7GULD) running Android 12. I can move straight forward fine but once I try to slide to the diagonal buttons or a side button the screen only slowly slides to that side and the buttons get "stuck" until I let go.
Attempted the possible workaround noted above. The game loaded perfectly and allowed me to switch to external storage; all of my worlds and packs were available once it switched from application storage. I closed the game and re-opened it but noticed it was slower to load than when I did the fresh install without external storage selected. It had been loading slow (2-3 minutes of loading screen) over the last couple of betas but I didn't realize how bad it was until I did the fresh public install.
I closed the game again after checking that my worlds and packs were still available and re-entered the beta via the Google Play store. After waiting for that to take effect, I updated and tried to open under the beta through the Google Play store. After waiting 10 minutes (blank gray screen) I manually closed out the game and tried opening it outside of the Google Play store instead. Waited another 10 minutes with a blank gray screen and it still didn't load.
It really does appear the external storage selection is causing some kind of hangup with the loading on both the public and beta versions of the game.
I'm on Android 11 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+
The game runs well when not using external storage. It's once you switch to external storage that you have issues.
I second what John said. Everything is great with the game...unless you are trying to use external storage. The game essentially freezes when trying to switch to external storage, whether from the actual settings screen or the Create World screen.
If I'm lucky enough to actually get it to switch to external storage (waiting at least 10 minutes, if not more) then none of my resource packs, worlds, or addons show up.
I'm having a similar issue on Android 11 (Galaxy Note 10+). I cleared the cache and data in my storage settings and was able to open it fine. I then logged into my Microsoft account again with no issues.
However, when I went to change my File Storage Location to External in profile settings (so I could access previously downloaded packs) it froze again. I waited it out and it eventually switched and unfroze. This leads me to believe there is an issue with having the File Storage Location set to External instead of Application.
I exited Minecraft and tried reopening it since my files weren't appearing. It is now freezing/taking up to 5 minutes to get past the loading screen. I still don't see any of my packs on the Global Resources area.
*Edit* I had to try clearing my data again and now I can't log into my Microsoft account. It gives me an error code of "Pufferfish".
I think the mistake is wholly on my end. I somehow thought the "pull from above" somehow also translated to "push to below" even when facing a different direction. So sorry for the confusion. Thank you for clarifying it for me though!
Wasn't there a change recently to fix mobs floating while they are riding other mobs? Could that have impacted the chicken's hitbox?
I've only had this occur for signs and only when I have signs in slot 9 (last slot on right) and then place them. Still happening in 1.15.0.53 beta on Android.
Edit: I had not noticed this in the chat before but just tested it and found the same issue. It jumped for both regular chat and using commands.
Also impacts Android
Also still happening in beta 1.14.0.5
This has resulted in creating 3 wide area or only 2 high areas. I've also begun putting overhangs above doors so I don't jump while trying enter buildings/bases.
Turning off wifi or mobile data didn't work. Turning off both makes it unable to verify that I own the game. 😞
Same on Galaxy Note 10+ and Pixel 2XL. If I turn off wifi as suggested it still happens; turning off mobile instead has same result. Turning off mobile data at same time results in inability to play as game "cannot verify I own the game on this device".
Still happening in 1.18.20.25 Beta. I added a screen recording from my phone showing it happening. No additional resource or behavior packs as evidenced in the video. Also had the issue on my daughter's Kindle Fire with standard Steve skin and no additional packs.
Just for clarification, when I press left/right while moving I expect to strafe (move directly sideways and not forward) instead of drift like it does in the video.
