Hello, after playing for about 5 to 10 minutes Minecraft starts freezing randomly in our XBOX series X and XBOX one X as well.
this started happening after the last update and there is no workaround.
We worked with Microsoft in all the necessary troubleshooting like resetting, restart, removing the game, even a factory reset of the XBOX, but the issue still is there.
Microsoft team recommended to create an issue with Mojang to see if this is widespread and if there is a fix available soon.
Attached you can find a video of the issue happening all the sudden and only by pressing the xBox button in the remote the issue gets solved for a little bit.

An update on this.
If i use a different account in my xbox the issue is not there.
Having said that, i am assuming the issue is related to one of the mod/skins that i have purchase through the marketplace.
I hope this help to fix the issue.
Thanks in advance,

Hi I also have a skin that I bought via the market place I have just removed this item and used one already free within the game and it still froze after 10 minutes. Like you have said only pressing the Xbox button resolves the issue but only for a few seconds and it freezes again. I have also changed my Xbox settings to show in 720p and set the render distance to the minimum of 6 chunks. Mine started crashing about 6 weeks ago. I have also done all of the above in uninstalling the game restring Xbox back to factory settings etc and it hasn’t made a difference

Also have this issue. I have tried other peoples consoles and as soon as my son logs in with his account, it starts doing this.
Been Mojang told me to contact Microsoft and Microsoft told me to contact Mojang.
Rather frustrating.

I’m the same andrew. It’s seems to be account related as I have created a new account and I’ve not have a problem since. I play it on my own Xbox with my bed account and it doesn’t freeze or anything but as soon as i try it on my actual account it freezes almost instantly now. I cannot play it on my partners Xbox on my account as it freezes so I do think it is account related. Have you bought anything from the market place? I bought a skin from there and that’s when my issues started

The issues is on my son's account and he has bought a number of things from the market and to go through all of that is going to take days of my life. So what we should all start a new account and not buy anything on the market place. Sounds great 😃

Haha yeah that’s a bit hard to do haha. And hopefully Microsoft or Mojang come up with a fix soon. I’d love to go back to my old world instead of starting again.

Hi all.
Can you try the following for me? Play Minecraft offline (no internet connection) and see if the problem persists. My son played today in offline mode and it did not freeze once. Which is making me think it is an account issue and not a marketplace issue and there is nothing we can do to resolve this without Mojang assisting us.

I have just tried it now and mine was still the same lasted 10 minutes and then started freezing again
I still don’t understand why mojang has yet to comment on this or provide any update to this ticket
Could you please provide the names and creators of the marketplace content you've downloaded on the affected accounts?

Hi yes. Mine was still only 1 item which was the ruffled shirt created by minecraft and I bought it through the dressing room

I have uploaded everything we have in our account

We are having the same issue We also uninstalled and rebooted several times. We have to use the home button trick just to get to a safe place and leave.
.

How do I see a list of what my son has installed from the marketplace and how would you like me to send this?
Thanks for this
@unknown You need to open the Marketplace and select the "My Content" button (next to minecoins). From there you can take screenshots or just make a list of everything, whatever is more convenient to you.

I get around it with splitscreen. Have to leave main account afk but can play with guest account without freezing.. Hope this helps you to keep playing.

The guest account works for us too but the animals keep disappearing. The freezing issue really needs resolved. It is extremely frustrating.

I removed all the downloaded maps and used the standard skins and it still does this. Not sure how my son pays like this because it is unplayable at the moment, especially when online (ie sky blocks).
I was going to suggest he just creates a new account but this is not fair for him.
It clearly is an account issue

@unknown: There was a delay in getting this report to Mojang because of a rarely triggered weakness in our workflow: It fell through the cracks for a while. If you're curious about it, you might like to see this post on the Mojira subreddit, which is where we address questions about the bug tracker itself. We're addressing the workflow problem with Mojang, so hopefully it won't happen in the future.
Meanwhile, I assume you're just looking for reassurance that Mojang are working on this. They are, with elevated concern because of the severity of the problem. If they need more information, they'll most likely ask for it in a comment. Until then, all we can do is wait.

[MCPE Mod] Auldrick, thanks for the response. I have read the article now and glad to hear something is being done here. If any further assistance is needed from my side, please let me know what you need and I am more than happy to assist.

@unknown, @unknown: The affected versions already included 1.18.1 Hotfix when you commented. Please don't comment with redundant information.

I have had members of a server I play on experiencing this bug on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. When we used to play on a realm, everyone in a specific area would freeze at the same time. We recently switched to a Bedrock dedicated server and now only one of us freezes at a time. I have not experienced this bug on a single player world.

Hello my name is David, and I am a gamer that plays Minecraft on my Xbox Series S and I am currently having the problem that is being claimed to be happening to other people including me. I don't have a fix, but I do have lots of info for developers to work with when fixing this problem. Ok when you start up Minecraft everything is normal, the menu is normal, making a world is normal, and the 1st 1-5 minutes of playing is normal but 5-15 minutes after joining a world or making one the problem starts. After 5-15 minutes my frame rate starts to drop A LOT and my game starts to get a little laggy and progressively over time the lag gets worse and worse. In a minute of the lag starting my game is frozen stuck on the same screen and will stay like that. Keep in mind the game never crashes it's just stuck on a frozen screen till you restart the game, but you can unfreeze the game kind of. You can unfreeze the screen by tapping your Xbox home button on your controller this opens the Xbox menu and unfreezes the game, but this is only temporally it fixes the game for 1-6 seconds before it freezes again. You can just press the home button again to fix it, but it always goes back to its frozen state soon after. At this point there's nothing you can do so you restart the game, but the problem happens again 5-15 minutes after playing. My Minecraft is a digital copy bought on an older Xbox that didn't have this problem and it didn't start when I bought my Series S it happened months after almost a year and the problem started back of October just 2 months ago. I took a month break from the game and game back to broken one. Also, this problem is only this game and as I can tell my Xbox is 100% normal. Another also if I switch accounts on the same Xbox Minecraft is normal, but when I switch back to my account it's broken. So, my guess the problem has to do with Minecraft and my Xbox account being linked together but that's my guess. Also, this problem happens on worlds made before or after the glitch started, if I join someone's world (but only to me), and when joining a server. I have done everything I could think of to fix this I deleted the games local save, deleted and reinstalled the game, check if my console was working right (It was), tested switching accounts, and last factory rested my Xbox all with still this same problem happing. I messaged Minecraft support and was transferred to 4 people on messages, and they all didn't know what to do I was then brought to this website by email. I also was on the phone with Xbox support, and they never called back after they said they would 😞. Three things to call this glitch very weird, hard to fix, and consistent because every time I do something to fix the problem it stays the same it does not get better or worse just the same. I don't think this will go away something needs to get done NOW. I hope this info will help developers understand this problem and will help them fix it faster and hurry up please I want to get back to being able to play with friends without needing to leave every 5 minutes thank you for reading this and bye. THIS PART WAS EDITED AFTER POSTING. I read the comments and for me this problem did not start by a in store Minecraft purchase unless a free pack from the marketplace caused the problem. (I have never bought anything from the Minecraft marketplace.)

I also have this same issue. I have a theory about the cause and would like to find out if any of the admins have the ability to modify my account. As @David Somo mentions this occurred for me after an updated (1st Cliffs and Caves I believe). After the update I have factory reset my XboxOne 3 times and reloaded the game a few dozen etc. As with the other reports my slowness happens if I am in a world or not and if I leave it in the menu it will freeze as well. Also I can do the unfreeze by opening the Xbox menu and closing it, which will give me a few seconds in which to do something before it freezes again.
In my profile I have several worlds that are completely inaccessible to me as when I attempt to load or modify them (even to delete) I receive an error on sync. One of my world's is my son's (who is 4) that is filled with just junk data but had ballooned to about 500MBs in size. After the factory reset I am unable to delete this or any older worlds from my profile. My working theory is based on a problem I have dealt with in the Active Directory arena. When a person logs into a new computer or server their roaming profile must be transferred to the workstation if they store dumb things like music or movies in their profile it can case the profile to be a few GBs in size and the login to the machine can take a really long time.
If the profile fails to load in windows it just gives you a temp profile, but my theory is that a background sync may be running while I am in the menu or playing the game and it is failing to download this massive world(s) in the profile and is resulting in poor performance. If at all possible can someone go into my profile and delete any world over say 50 MBs just to see if this will work to resolve the issue? I would do it, but I get the sync error on any of the older worlds.
If needed I can provide video of the freeze, with my phone because if you take it with the Xbox capture the world still works fine, but you are just standing still.

The bug tracker's purpose is to gather bug reports and additional information about the bug. The staff here are volunteers from the community. We do not even have access to your Minecraft account, let alone your Xbox account or your personal file storage. Literally all we can do is forward the bug information we manage to the devs, This is not a customer support site.
Please familiarize yourself with the bug tracker Guidelines and FAQ, which explains how you can use the bug tracker. If you haven't, I would also recommend reading the previous comments.

Thank you Auldrick, sorry for the confusion. I was sent here by Mojang support. They led me to believe that this was something like and 'escalation queue' for very difficult issues.
I understand it is being worked on, I have now read all comments on the thread. Thank you for your help. I will attempt to make a new account and link it as I don't have many purchases or worlds I care about.

@Leo MacWilliam I have worlds from when I had me old Xbox and when I switched I wanted to delete some of them and there was 2 worlds I had that I could not delete every time I tried it would try to sync my Xbox but would always fail or just load forever. I have tried to delete the world from My files explorer on my Xbox but every time it would delete but then replicate the world making it stuck on Minecraft as a unplayable world that can’t be removed. After sharing your experience I think that is the cause of the problem.

Hi
We were just informed there is an update for Minecraft. Is this issue addressed in this update?

Andrew Backstrom: you can access full changelogs to read at https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/categories/115000410252-Knowledge-Base
When an issue is reported fixed by the developers we resolve the report.

I am happy to report that this issue seems to be fixed. My son has been playing all week and no issues.
Thanks

Is anyone else still affected by this issue?

Yes, but the behavior is slightly different. When it freezes i am not able to unblock it by pressing the xbox button, i have to quit the game and start it again.
Although, the issue starts happening after 30 minutes instead of 10 as before.
Let me know if you need any additional information.
Thanks,
Hermann

Hello, unfortunately the issue is still happening on our account.
As described above, it happens less often, but it is still happening.
Thanks in advance,
Hermann

I have also been having this problem for many months; freezing for long periods of time, many times that can be fixed by pressing the Xbox menu button. But since the last few weeks, it has changed to freezing after an hour or so but can only be fixed by closing and re-opening Minecraft. However after messing around with the /fill command it has gone back to freezing many times as well as freezing permanently.
So I start to play it freezes a couple times that I can fix then after a while it freezes and I am unable to fix it without closing Minecraft.
I play on an Xbox One S that I have had for 4 years, I have bought from the marketplace, and the /fill command that caused the old freezing to start again was placing lots of top snow in the air where it would then fall.
Our developers have mentioned that players will hopefully see some improvements since the 1.19.31 update - could you please let us know if that is the case? If you are still experiencing the issue, could you let us know if you've seen any improvements, and which version you are on specifically? Thank you!
