I have experienced this several times since the update. I had previous created a boat and leave it on a sea. Then go underground where I travel through a mine a "significant" distance (the mine is under the sea). Suddenly I teleport above ground into a boat.

Steps to duplicate (it's good to start fresh when testing.)
-Start a creative world.
-Get into a boat.
-Use the boat a little.
-Leave the boat for a while.
Reopen your game. You will then be teleported into the boat you left earlier.

Just experienced this playing a lan game with my daughter. She on a Samsung s3, me on a note 4. Both at latest android available from EE (s3 kit kat, note 4 lollipop). Both mcpe 0.11.1
We had earlier in the session both been in the same boat. I got out as it was hard to row with her in back. We then went adventuring and some time and quite a distance later she died and respawned losing all her stuff. I was teleported back to the boat. Very annoying.

I have the same issue playing PE 0.11.1 on a Droid 4 (system 98.72.189.XT894.Verizon.en.US) using Android 4.1.2.
This has been happening since the day I downloaded the update, June 12. If I play for an hour this will occur 2 or 3 times. I will be traveling somewhere, the screen will flash and I will end up sitting in a boat. The water under the boat is temporarily a much lighter blue than usual, and I often find a dark grey sheep in the boat with me. Coincidentally, the first time it happened I was carrying a dark grey sheep back to my village. After the flash I got out of the boat to look around and the sheep was gone. It has happened while rowing a boat (I end up in a different boat), walking over land, or through caves. I also have come across quite a few "abandoned" boats just sitting in the river as I pass by. Often the teleport will happen as I pass one of these boats. The most annoying thing is I often lose one item out of my inventory, which on four occasions has been a clock (and now I am running out of gold). Coincident with this, if i exit out of the game while standing on the first floor of my house, I will often be standing on the second floor over the same spot when the game restarts.
Last piece of info. The Google Play store is showing that an update to version 0.11.1 is available, even though I am already running that version. I checked in Manage Apps and did confirm that my system shows the installed version as 0.11.1. I will do the update as suggested in the Google Play store and see if things improve.

I would guess that the behavior is not completely "random", per se, as I believe I've had it happen more frequently in direct proportion to the number of boats I've had out on the water. I did not know at first how to break down and retrieve a boat, so I simply left many of them in makeshift docks on the water. During that time I suddenly found myself in boats all the time. Now that I know how to retrieve my boats, I have been progressively getting them out of the water, and the problem has been progressively becoming more rare. This may seem "obvious", but I thought it was worth saying.
I would recommend testing this by putting lots of boats in the water (a couple dozen, maybe) across a wide area (maybe 50 x 50 chunks), then boat or walk around the center of this area. I usually boat by just leaving my fingers on the paddle arrows, not by "pumping" them to increase speed, and I suspect the problem may be that one of my fingers is pointing in the general direction of a boat off in the distance, and the "board" code is being triggered inappropriately. Note that it happens, though, even if my thumbs (on the paddle buttons) seem to be completely over nothing but water, and thus could not actually be over a boat, even in the distance. Walking is the same, as the issue seems to come up when I'm just cruising along in the same direction with my fingers not swiping across the screen significantly.
Also, for what it's worth, I almost always have split and lefty controls off, maximum render, and third-person view off, with all other graphic enhancements ("particles" in PC parlance) on.

Yes I perhaps should have made it clear that when my daughter died in the game it was not for any reason, just found herself back at spawn with no stuff and I found myself back in the boat, but with all my stuff.
I've found LAN play to be much more flaky in 0.11.1. I'm seeing more lag, and also when re-joining a LAN game sometimes the person on the device that isn't owning the game comes back at spawn with no items saved. That's probably another bug report though 🙂

I experienced this also now with a minecart. I've tried to reproduce this in a new world with no success. So I guess it's conditions created in updated worlds.

This happens for me on 0.11.1 Android also, but with absolutely no boats on my map! The other day I was flying around at Y=128+, and suddenly I'm in a boat at Y=64! With a sheep no less! Interestingly, it seems that whatever my last boat companion mob was magically spawns with me in the boat, whether I've previously killed them or not, and regardless of whether I left the boat on the map or not!

I am still gettig it too, occasionally, even though I'm pretty sure I cleared all my old boats from the water by now. I currently have well over a dozen boats stored, and I've destroyed at least that many more. I'm playing on survival.

This is still happening in 0.12.1. Happened to me last night. I haven't been using boats because of this issue, but broke down yesterday to make travel faster. At least I am now using the compass all of the time and could find my way home after being transported into a boat. Can I invite you to the world with the boats?
This is happening my survival-only world created and still playing in 0.12.1 (windows 10 ed.)
I had trouble getting a pet dog to follow me in my boat so i returned on foot along shoreline to the spot where the wolf pack spawned. About 2/3 of the ways there I suddenly teleported out to a boat. The spot I teleported to was near where I was on the shore and it was quite possibly exactly a spot where I had previously boated on the way back to the village.
This map is sitting at > 130 MB now and I have explored a lot of ocean. The teleport has happened to me 3 times I think. The other times, I think I was much farther away and I don't remember the details. I'll try to be more helpful if it reoccurs.

I had a chance finally to try some boats yesterday. Near the same spot as described in previous post andnot far off shore i saw a boat and swam out to it. Upon entering the boat i teleported about 1-2 chunks away in a "new" boat. A copy of the boat i entered remained in the original spot . Upon rowing back, jumping out of the new boat and into the original "copy" boat, i rowed back to village and no additional glitches occurred. Playing Win10 0.12.2 but map produced in 0.12.1.

0.12.2 same issue on android 4.2.2 ASUS ME173X with a survival world made in version 10.5. I can pretty reliably continue down a long tunnel I made under some ocean and be pulled out and placed in a boat which did not exist previously. I always take the boats back to a chest for storage or use them as furnace fuel, so I never have unattended boats out in the world. Ocassionally I can be pulled to another new boat while in the first boat as grubbbee describes, but I don't know how to make that happen. The bug did seem to start occuring after I first started using boats and I was teleported from one boat to a boat which had been left (so with the second boat I ever created). The way I reproduce the bug now is different slightly in that it creates new boats.

We found reliable way to reproduce boat bug in 0.13. I am not sure how stable that is, but it might let us fix this bug. Thanks for reports!

This bug appear in MCPE 0.14.0 build 3
I was in my strip mine system on the way back to my home. I was at Y level 13 + - 3 blocks. I was sprinting and jumping to move faster in my 2 block high tunnels and in another moment I was sitting in my boat. Haven't find out a way to reproduce but I believe that happened if the player looks (more or less) in the direction of the boat.

Same issue on Samsung S3 - custom Rom Lollipop 5.1 Minecraft PE 0.14.0. Survival Mode. Oak Boat. Can be mining deep underground and suddenly find myself on the surface in a boat. Also teleports when on surface. Possibly when looking at direction of the boat but need re-test. This never happened to me in 0.13.

The exact same thing happened to me today, but not on a boat it was on a minecart. Version: 0.14.0 on Windows 10

I had the same issue and it stopped when my shovel broke. Maybe try getting rid of your shovels if you have them in your inventory. I've been using torches to dig. It's slow but it's better than transporting randomly.

This has happened to me many times in 0.14.0, but I haven't seen it in 0.14.1 so far (EDIT: It happened today in 0.14.1). It's a minecart, not a boat in my cases. When I'm riding on a cart, the game sometimes teleports me to some random place where I put rails before... with an extra free minecart. If I go back to the original location, I can almost always see my original cart sitting there. I have a collection of those free carts in my chest.

This has happened to me a few times now on the ipad edition. Twice today. And it seems to be creating extra boats as, I have three now!
It happened as I was rowing one with a tamed wolf in back. I somehow transported to a new one nearby my original. It bizarrely rowed past me carrying my wolf!

Still occurring with symptoms as detailed in 15929 and in 0.15.1 on W10 running with mulitplayer broadcast to LAN enabled but only a single W10 client playing on the host machine itself.
New behaviour. I was riding a mule about 1000 blocks away from a village base of mine. Next moment, I was aboard the first horse I had tamed and which had been back at the village base but now appeared at a location I'd ridden that horse before. A few blocks away from my new location was the now empty Mule (empty of me not cargo).
I have no idea if the horse is the actual horse 'teleported' (as it appeared wearing saddle and golden armour that I only have on that horse) or a copy of that horse reloaded from a previous character location save.
Will have to travel back 1000 odd blocks to find out and sadly it seems the teleported/copied horse got caught between a golem and zombie fighting so is no more in any case. 😞 Too busy looking for a jungle biome to care to check ATM.
Very annoying bug now if it means that items/mobs/characters can be randomly teleported to end up stuck thousands of blocks from where they were, only to then have to spend hours travelling back there to continue enjoying a game.
If you can't fix this bug, then enabling the facility to teleport characters and or mobs would at least mitigate the problem and associated frustrations.

Quick update, did return to location of original horse and it was still there, phew! This would support the idea that when the glitch occurs it seems to be loading an invalid, previously stored character location for that region along with a copy of the transport the character was riding when the data was stored. I had only passed that point once before and on the horse, whilst exploring thousands of blocks quite quickly. When glitching from the mule to a copy of the horse, it was the first time I'd returned to that location.

I experience this issue as well, I'm mining- in the direction of the ocean-and then suddenly I teleport onto a boat, not too far away from my home, luckily. But it still annoys me so I make sure not to mine in the same direction until this bug is fixed

I just experienced this bug on 0.15.2.1. I was running across some plains towards my boat, but was still about 100 blocks from the water's edge and suddenly appeared in my boat! In this case it was quite convenient... I'm using a Galaxy S6 with Gear VR.

I have 0.11.1 and am using an iPad 2. I have the same issue with boats in several of my worlds. I have been moved to a boat in different land masses and to a boat I just left a few steps ago.
