This is with the game in the standard settings. So if it's set to false in my game, then it's set to false as the default. Is it supposed to be set to true as the default?

This is happening again in Java 22w42a. Is there a way to open this up again? Or should I start a new ticket?

Can confirm for 18w47b, though it's been happening to me for a while. I thought it was something to do with the memory issues, but they seem to be fixed and the hostiles still aren't spawning the way they used to. Then I thought I had my game on Easy, but nope it's set to Normal. Played one night in one player survival and I saw one skeleton and one spider. I wandered around for a long time and came across one zombie and one creeper, and that was it. Even if I stay in one place for a long time the hostile mobs just don't spawn.

Grass, Mycelium, Podzol, Grass Paths, and Farmland do not decay underwater.

Unfortunately, Glass panes (all colors) and Leaves (all types) are back to having air around them. The Glass Block is still fine. Also the new Lantern is also not waterlogged. Is it supposed to be a block that can be placed underwater?

Edit: I'm wrong all Glass is fine. But Leaves are still having issues.

Non-undead mobs that won't swim up but should:

Bats
Blazes
Endermites
Ghasts (can't actually tell if they are trying to swim up, or just flying around randomly)

Silverfish will swim to surface, but don't actually surface so they drown anyway. (MC-134755)

The only mob I can confirm is doing this now (in 18w45a) is the silverfish. This is only for adult mobs though. I haven't tested it with babies.

I went through all the items you could place in creative mode without commands again. Some of the items listed in the OP are fine in this snapshot. There are also a good number of items that show air around them, but break when placed. I also included items that can’t be placed underwater.

Had this problem as well. Respawning just loaded a screen that was blank except for the sky and the sun and the moon.

Update! After I killed an invisible horse and the red wash appeared I killed a nearby cat and the wash went away! I'm going to see if I can do it again.

Update #2: Okay so if you hit an invisible horse and the screen goes red, then you hit a different mob the wash will disappear.

Update #3: If you removed the armor the horse reappears. If you hit the invisible horse and you get the red wash and you take its armor off the red wash stays, but if you then hit it while it is unarmored the red disappears.

Same thing happened in my game (18w43c). I accidentally attacked an invisible horse while trying to get on another horse (I thought the invisible one had despawned). After I hit it my screen was stuck with a red wash until I exited the entire game.

The red coloring also followed me to another world before I tried exiting the game.

Any type of armor changes them to invisible, but saddles do not.

Found it! This is the one I remember seeing. MC-123055 It says it's fixed? But maybe they just mean the breeding part?

Hmm...I seem to remember that being an issue before the newest release. Let me see if I can find the issue number.
