This is obviously intentional design, it does not need changing.

pistons have 2 block states, fullblock and half block. it makes sense that they could be water logged, especially for underwater farms.

Could also change it to “The villager” instead. This way no gender or identity is assumed when referring to the villager.

Yeah this needs to be fixed, minecarts should work the way we want them to, notmoving in unpredictable patters.
