According to TheMasterCaver in this minecraftforum discussion (cited in MC-234798), one of the causes of this issue is — the chunk populator centering features within a 16x16 block area but since the groups are 15x15 blocks they can extend 7 blocks outside of this area. I know next to nothing about the code, so it would be great to know how plausible this explanation is.

My opinion is that the summary should reflect how the issue impacts the vanilla game, as opposed to how it can impact datapacks (unless it is an issue about datapacks), but both titles work well.

☝️ I want to confirm this issue: In version 1.21.4, in my survival world, I could see a lava pit in which several trees had appeared in that same location due to world generation, but one that does not make any sense so it must be corrected
