No, similar but no. My problem is it bounces of facing down/backwards close to you, like there is a ghost block. Then it just lands where it should land.

Oh I think I figured it out. Here is the story; I wanted to try the update, so I did not search for mods I use, which includes a HD texture pack patcher. When I updated, I had a HD t.pack (broken since I have no patcher) and arrows did that. Then I downgraded so I could play on servers still. I played on 1.4.2 to test it again and I realized it works fine with default t.pack. Thanks for your interest, have a good day!

I got the same issue, the arrows just freeze where they spawn (when shot) jitter in mid-air for about 1-3 sec depending on it's normal "air-time", then go back on their normal trajectory.
For me, the bug happened on creative mode, in the Snowy Kingdom Superflat preset after about 2 hours in... i have a feeling time could be the cause.
It was easily fixed by relogging and it did no happen before.
I have no plugins nor texture pack installed.
I hope these extra specifications can help. _

Still occurring in 1.4.5. Makes it hard to see if you're aiming high/low because the arrow is not shown in flight.
Quitting Minecraft and restarting sometimes fixes the problem but not always.

This is what happens on my Vanilla MC v1.5.1. Arrow only returns to normal position (stuck in button), when I log off then back on.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

MC 1.5.2, vanilla, seems to be fine. Arrows do not bounce back from buttons, at least on my jar (using the old launcher).

Unable to reproduce in 13w18c aswell, resolving.

Confirmed in 1.6.2 pre. Very annoying.

I have not had this issue since I posted it, FYI. Might it be client lag related?

I have tried this on two computers, both of which caused the arrows to bounce off an invisible object before landing, then glitching back to the intended target. 1.5 fixed it, but 1.6.1 (The full update) brought it back.

Reproduction: Take a bow, shoot. Happens both in creative and survival.
Now something additional came: The arrows' direction in at their target is not the expected but the one they had when fallen down. Made a bug report for that: MC-30988

Please reopen this, incredibly off putting when you're trying to shoot players/mobs and you can't see where your arrows go.

We haven't seen a mod comment in a while, I feel like this bug isn't getting enough attention. [Mod] Kumasasa bumped it recently (check Transactions Summary) but still. Those who use Twitter, maybe you could tweet about this?

I've had it happen about 4 times, only ever in creative worlds so far. It's definitely very annoying when it does happen though, and is usually persistent through reloading the world.
Due to the amount of duplicates, I'd judge that it's reasonably common.

This is really weird. I was just having this problem and now it's not happening. When I first saw it, I thought something weird happen in Minecraft so I shut down the client. After that, the bug still persisted. Then I logged out of my single player world for a bout 5 minutes, went back on, and it went away. Any explanations for that?

Confirmed for 1.8.3 on Windows 7 Java 8. Arrow appears to simply drop a block in front of the area when fired and does not render properly when flying through the air. When it hits the ground or a block it will render in the correct block. Please fix this bug it makes bows almost unusable.

Relogging seems to have fixed the issue but it is still strange that it happened at all exactly as this bug is described.


Happend in 1.8.7, restart did not fix. Made new world efter restart, it had no problem, enterd world that had problem without restart, problem fixed in old world. Lots of gamerules set to false in original world with problem, all with regards to drops.

Sonic: Create a new superflat world, preferably without any other entities able to spawn, and shoot a bow.

Created a world with "The Void" preset so no entities spawn. Reproduced.

The 'fix' in 15w45a made the arrow mechanic even worse for me. Now if the MultiplayerChunkCache (check that in F3) hasn't finished loading, which happens pretty often with a higher render-distance and moving around, and you shoot an arrow it has a pretty low momentum and doesnt travel far.

@unknown: That sounds like a separate issue. Please create a new ticket for that.
