Steps to Reproduce:
Open up Minecraft on a split-screen-compatible device (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, etc. No servers)
With a second controller, add a second player to start split-screen
Have either player open up their inventory or any other menu (Any UI)
Observed Results:
Any players that don't have any menus opened up will see that their crosshair is flickering. When all players in a menu exit the menu, all players' crosshairs will return to normal.
If 2 players are in a menu, the other players' crosshairs will disappear but if a 3rd person enters a menu, the player not in a menu will have a crosshair and it will be flashing more intensely.
Here is a video that demonstrates all variations of flashing and no crosshair:
[media]Expected Results:
The crosshair should stay solid and not flicker nor disappear when players open up a menu.
Notes:
Players going into 3rd person also trigger the flashing and/or crosshair disappearing.
As of 1.21.80, the crosshair flickers regardless of whether a UI is open.

Same issue here. In local 4-player, sometimes the crosshair disappears completely. When this occurs, you can't do things that require crosshair activation, such as opening chests. Makes local multiplayer very difficult.

Also happens constantly while splitscreen player is in 3rd person (or second), and it seems that player 1 and 2 on the screen rapidly take turns with or without the crosshair. Seems like the crosshair doesn’t know which user to activate for.

Same here, although other players can still use their crosshair, so this may be a different bug.

Since the last update this has happened to me as well. Crosshairs flicker if one other player is on splitscreen or completely disappears if 3 or 4 players are on. Happens whenever someone opens a chest, their inventory, or a crafting block. Playing on Xbox one bedrock edition.

This happens to me on PS4, is this the case on other platforms too?
I hope Mojang looks into fixing this quickly because it is a bug that makes certain things like aiming with bows or trident impossible whilst someone else is just sorting out their inventory or chests...
I've had this constantly since 1.16.220 and I hope the next update fixes it...
Edit: I wanted to add that this does not only affect opening UI like inventory or all the ones mentioned above. It also happens to me when going to sleep in a bed

It seems that the crosshair usually flickers when one player is using inventory/ other GUIs, and completely disappears if there are multiple players. It is still possible to place blocks; shoot bows, but aiming and trying to find out exactly where on the block you are pointing at is difficult. It seems this has not been resolved after 1.17, so I want to create activity to bring attention to this bug.

George D - same here. The crosshair issue persists in 1.17.

It happens to me to on 3 player split screen

can confirm this. thanks for finding out the reason. we noticed this from the start and we never realized that it was caused by the UI of a different player in split screen.
can confirm it for latest version on PS4 platform

I don't know if it is just me, but this issue has reappeared, greatly reduced (before the cursor would sometimes disappear for long amounts of time if someone had their inventory open), now it just flickers. I think this might need to be reopened...
Playing on the latest version on the PS4 btw

Can confirm, this issue has reappeared/still present in 1.17.40 or 1.17.41, not sure which update exactly. Xbox One X console.

the error came back
is in version 1.17.41

It also happens when one Player is in the 2nd or 3rd person camera in the beta-version 1.18.0.27

As of the latest version of 1.19, I still have this issue. (Xbox One local multiplayer)

This is still an issue. I've been watching this issue since last summer. Any help is appreciated. Xbox Series X - Three player splitscreen. Cross Hair Disappears. Sometimes opening the inventory screen can bring it back for a few seconds.

Bug is still occurring on 1.19.30 on xbox

A year and a half later and still hasn’t been resolved. Makes it extremely difficult to play. Fix this!

When I play splitscreen and use inventory, crafting table, furnance, chest, or similar the cursor on the other player's screen flicker rapidly. As my wife is a migraine suffer that can be triggered this way, we have had to stop playing all together. Please address this.

Affects 1.19.51

Still affects version as of todays date. Awaiting fix because I play splitscreen a lot, sucks to see this still being an issue years later.

Update to this issue:
Steps to Reproduce:
Load into any Minecraft world on a split-screen compatible device(no servers)
With a second controller, add a second player to start split-screen
Have one or the other open up their inventory or any other menu
Observed Results:
The person that doesn't have any menus opened up will see that their crosshair is flickering. When you exit the menu, the crosshair will return back to normal.
Expected Results:
The crosshair should stay solid and not flicker.

This is happening in 1.19.63 on Nintendo Switch. My observation is slightly different (worse?).
This only started happening once I purchased a bedrock account for both of my kids and we connected their accounts.
The first player loads the world
The second player joins the game and the screen displays as split.
The first player's crosshair starts to flicker.
The entire bottom half of the screen starts to flicker. It doesn't stop flickering until the game is loaded for the second player.
The strobing effect concerns me when my kids are trying to play Minecraft. I suggested they look away from the tv while this is happening, but it would be better if it didn't happen. A black screen with a loading bar would be fine.

Added video of strobing/flashing on loading a splitscreen player. Crosshair of player 1 flashes while loading, and also later while any player's inventory is open.
Device is 1st gen Nintendo Switch. TV is LG OLED B9. Latest Minecraft build as of the date of this comment (can't bother checking yet).

Still a bug in latest version 😞.

Affects in 1.19.83

Also affects 1.20, Nintendo Switch. (how???)

This is still an issue in 1.20 on Xbox Series X while playing four player splitscreen. I originally submitted in 2021. Would be super excited to see this fixed in a future build.

Still not fixed on PS4, my kids are fighting whenever one of them open a menu 😃 Please, fix it, it's really annoying. Thanks!

Every time a new Bedrock preview hits, I instantly read the changelog. lol. Would love to see this issue fixed. We've been playing as a family on Xbox for years and playing with a disappearing crosshair. The holidays are coming up. This would be an awesome gift? Please, Mojang.

I second this. Been way too long since someone took a look at it. It's really unplayable with 2/3 cause of this bug 😞.

I have the same issue.

Same issue with 1.21.81 on PS5.
