Moving your mouse, then scrolling to a different hotbar slot, snaps the camera to a random direction

When playing in singleplayer and multiplayer if you scroll or hotkey to another slot in your hotbar after moving your mouse, your camera is snapped to the rotation before you moved the mouse.

Steps to Reproduce:

Move to a different item on the hotbar using the scroll on the mouse

Observed Results:
The camera shifts (seemingly) randomly to either look directly up at the sky or down at the ground or 180 degrees horizontally. After every time I move position or look around the camera will jump when I scroll to a different hotbar item. If I am standing still looking in the same direction after I’ve experienced the camera jump and continue to scroll through the hotbar then it won’t jump again (until after I move that is). This problem does not happen when I move to a hotbar item using the shortcut 1,2,3 etc. keys on my keyboard. This only started happening after the 1.21.121 update.

Expected Results:
When moving through the hotbar using my mouse scroll the camera should stay in the same position.

Update 1: Just got a Logitech(M310) and it still persists, turning off smooth scrolling does nothing and it seems to be mouse dependent for the most part because my Logitech mouse has more violent results.

My issue seems worse than JoeFlame808s video. During play I attempt to scroll to a different hot bar slot and my view is instantly changed to the floor or ceiling and sometimes it rotates 180 degrees horizontally. Once this occurs I can keep scrolling hot bar slots without change and I readjust my view. But the next time I hit the scroll wheel I’m back looking at the floor or ceiling.

First started happening in Minecraft Preview, I switched to Minecraft Bedrock and it was fine until the last update. Plugging in a controller is a work around but I’ve been a keyboard player for years and doesn’t really help me. Playing in Java right now and everything is good so far. Much too aggravating to play with the screen bouncing around in Preview and Bedrock. Would be nice to go back and enjoy all the Marketplace content I’ve bought but can’t use.

My issue is exactly as Paul M describes. I am using Bedrock on Windows 11 v1.21.121:

Steps to Reproduce:

Move to a different item on the hotbar using the scroll on the mouse

Observed Results:
The camera shifts (seemingly) randomly to either look directly up at the sky or down at the ground or 180 degrees horizontally. After everytime I move position or look around the camera will jump when I scroll to a different hotbar item. If I am standing still looking in the same direction after I’ve experienced the camera jumpo and continue to scroll throuhg the hotbar then it won’t jump again (until after I move that is). This problem does not happen when I move to a hotbar item using the shortcut 1,2,3 etc keys on my keyboard. This only started happening after the 1.21.121 update.

@Mega_Spud As a reminder, my problem started occurring following the 1.21.121 update with my Logitech M240 mouse. By turning the smooth scrolling OFF my problem was resolved.

I now have the 1.21.124 hot fix and have tested my M240 mouse with its smooth scrolling back ON. I am now finding that immediately after opening my world the camera only snaps on the first time I move across the hotbar with my mouse scroll. After that initial time, the camera snap does not occur…at least not to the degree it was doing. Now the camera snaps but it is barely perceptible - millimeters in the screen - but it does still move.

After updated 1.21.124, this issue seems to be almostly fixed. I tried playing Bedrock with switching the scroll direction to “Inverted“. The issue occured initially, but it didn’t happen again afterward.

The bug still happens. As キ noted, if you open a GUI, move the cursor, close the GUI, then scroll, the camera snaps. This is why your camera snaps when you first open your world.

I am using a Logitech M650 mouse.

This bug still occurs in v1.21.130. I am using a Logitech G903 mouse, and when the tilt wheel is used, the camera view randomly moves. Please refer to the description below:

Camera view randomly moves when using a tilt wheel in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Join any world or server

  2. Use the mouse tilt wheel (left or right)

Expected result:

The camera view does not move when the tilt wheel is used.

Actual result:

The camera view randomly moves once when the tilt wheel is used.

P.S. This bug still occurs in v1.21.131 hotfix.
