Summary:
In the 1.21.30.26 Preview and 1.21.121 Hotfix, the mouse cursor no longer locks itself in place during gameplay. As a result, it can move in the background and interact with elements such as the taskbar, system notifications, windows set to “Always on top”, and additional monitors, disrupting gameplay.
This issue was likely introduced by an improper fix to MCPE-229549.
In the 1.21.122 Hotfix, Method 1 has been partially fixed. However, Method 2 and Method 3 remain unchanged.
Steps to Reproduce:
Method 1 – Taskbar Interaction (1.21.122 Hotfix)
Open a world in Fullscreen mode.
Open and close a user interface.
Press F11 to switch to Windowed mode.
Look down.
Method 2 – Notification Interaction
Open a world.
Trigger a system or app notification.
Turn the camera toward the area where the notification appears.
Method 3 – “Always on Top” Window Interaction
Open a world.
Open the Pause Menu.
Press F11 to switch to Windowed mode.
Right-click the taskbar and open Task Manager.
In Task Manager, go to Settings > Window management and enable Always on top.
Refocus Minecraft by clicking its icon on the taskbar.
Press Esc to resume the game.
Turn the camera toward the location of the Task Manager window.
Observed Results:
The mouse cursor moves in the background and appears over the taskbar, notifications, and Task Manager window, and these elements can be interacted with during gameplay, interrupting the experience.
Expected Results:
The mouse cursor should remain locked in place during gameplay and not appear on or interact with elements such as the taskbar, notifications, or other windows—consistent with the UWP version.

when in fullscreen mode it apparently moves way faster than normal to reach the other side and leave the window from the two sides, i went into a bedwars game to see if anyone else had the issue but nobody else did. i even died a couple times because i couldnt stop clicking off the game
I’m having this issue too. Sometimes when I try to place a block, my mouse ends up clicking on my second monitor, pausing the game.
I’ve also found that in fullscreen it only happens if you have a second monitor in extended display mode. The temporary solution I’ve implemented until it’s fixed that seems to work so far is unplugging the second monitor.
Having this issue as of updating to 1.21.121 last night. Looking too far in any direction causes the cursor to escape the window and allows me to click on other monitors. Cursor itself is invisible during this but evidence of its existence like hover menus shows up. Happens whether the game is in full screen or not.
This makes the game literally impossible to play
Bad enough we got a world breaking upgrade in a minor version change with 1.21.120, now we have a gameplay breaking bug released as a hotfix. Come on guys.
This version makes the game unplayable, again, and needs to be fixed ASAP. But at least with this update we have a backing track.
Every step you take and every move you make
Every block you break, every step you take I'll be pausing you
Every single day and every world you play
Every time you play, everything you do I'll be pausing you
I have the same problem with moving the mouse to the other screen. Since the last two updates, playing has become less fun due to a new problem every time.
(1.21.121) I am running in full screen mode with a dual monitor step up. I cannot even do a 180 degree turn to attack a mob coming up from behind me without the cursor moving out of the play window and causing the game to pause when clicking outside game. I can’t even fathom why anyone would even be touching code to lock the windows cursor during game play. As it is the game is borderline unplayable. I paused the game this way 18 times (after I realized it wasn’t me and an issue with the game) when just trying to unlock 2 shulker boxes to put the items into permanent storage.
I’m also having this issue. It’s really annoying when trying to sneak around a deep dark city turn around to place down some wool when suddenly the pause screen pops up, and your mouse is on the second monitor and a shrieked goes off because you are no longer crouched. I’ve also had it click on the task bar on the same monitor as the window game. This happens in both Windowed and Full Screen modes.
As mentioned by Daniel, even on the latest Version: v1.21.121
Build: 38632387
Branch: r/21_u12
Mouse movement is not locked to the center of the display as needed, almost as if the game thinks you are always in a GUI.
If you have any displays adjacent to your Minecraft monitor, your mouse can barely enter the screen space of the adjacent displays. There is no way to prevent this. (in the past, turning LUA/UAC off and back on via the Registry Editor could resolve this, but this no longer works as a workaround).
This also happened to me and it looks like going into fullscreen and exiting fullscreen mode (pressing f11 twice) fixes the issue
I’m experiencing a bug in Minecraft Bedrock where the cursor is not properly locked in the game window. When I move the cursor to the edges (top, bottom, or sides) and click, the game loses focus and goes into pause.
I have already tried the following steps with no success:
Disabled all game overlays (Discord, Xbox Game Bar, Razer Cortex, etc.)
Switching between fullscreen and windowed modes
Disabling fullscreen optimizations for Minecraft
Updating my graphics drivers (NVIDIA)
Restarting my PC
Despite all these steps, the issue persists.
This bug makes playing very difficult, as any click near the window edges can unintentionally take me out of the game. I hope this can be investigated and fixed in a future update.
Thank you for your attention.
I have posted an additional bug that gets paired with this one, but also introduces a white bar when having multiple monitors. This bar that appears also seems to be a point where, when in full screen, the game can be paused if the cursor enters this space. I will have a video attached demonstrating how the application overflows into my second monitor.
Started as soon as I updated to 1.21.121
It’s hard to play when I keep getting pulled out of the game to the menu
My mouse wheel gets unresponsive as well
I think it is an issue with the new hotfix. My sister cannot play at all because she has two monitors, so the mouse flies over to her other screen instead of staying put. I think the only thing that can fix this is the devs :/
i have dual monitors and yeah mouse is leaving the game screen during gameplay even going to task bar when looking down … i’ve opened mediaplayer several times and stem and file explorer… its since the hot fix
Also getting this with multiple monitors. I did find rearranging monitor placement in Windows Display Settings putting left hand monitor (minecraft) above right hand monitor (other stuff) where I have to mouse up and down to move between monitors. This does not fix the issue except for the fact that I don’t mouse down as often while playing Minecraft. It is also not very intuitive to move up and down with my mouse to move between my left and right monitors. Plus I haven’t even tried to figure out how to put my middle monitor into this.
This is what I had to do to minimize the amount of times this issue effects my game.
I am not running on multiple monitors, it is just a laptop with windows 11. Attempting uninstalling and reinstalling to fix
What I’ve had to do is duplicate my display on my second monitor, then fullscreen the game, to trap the cursor on the game window. It is an annoying issue likely caused by 1.21.121’s cursor position fix.
I am also having this issue. In this clip,
I am using Powertoys to track the mouse position (It would normally be stationary btw)
It does need to be fixed, but I’m finding if I don’t make Minecraft a maximized window on the secondary monitor it works well enough that it is playable.
It seems that the Mouse Coordinates aren’t being correctly locked to the games window dimensions.
The solution would be either limit the mouse location to a dimension smaller than the games current window screen or to lock the cursor to the center of game’s window.
To reproduce the issue you must have a second monitor, set the game to Fullscreen mode, then keep moving your mouse be slowly or fast to only 1 direction to where the other monitor is located for 5 seconds then press right or left mouse button. Since the mouse at this point is out of game window, it will open the pause screen.
This issue doesn’t happens on windowed mode because the mouse is correctly locked inside the games window dimensions during game play.
I am pasting what I wrote to this post since it seems that the other post was marked as duplicate.
I hope this helped and have a nice day!
Rene, I tried using windowed mode before, but it had a similar issue, where instead of moving to the second monitor, it could interact with the task bar and top of the application. Unfortunately, windowed mode isn’t a solution for me at least.
Thesius, i am having the same issues
this is unacceptable! I just spent money on addons and cant play with my parnter because of this! im so so so dissapointed…
Also been dealing with this, my sister has also been dealing with the same issue. I’ve tried some older ways to fix it but nothing worked, so it sucks there seems to be no fix.
I am playing on one monitor and getting the same problem.
I hope this is fixed soon, the game is currently unplayable.
This happens full screen with multiple monitor setup too. If you move your mouse to the far edge of the game screen that is shared and left or right click, it will change windows to what is on the second monitor. If you scroll, it will scroll whats on the second window (wont kick you into the pause screen though)
Its either some weird window scaling issue or the cursor taking its own priority
I found an application that partially prevents the issue from occurring:
https://github.com/Stateford/Display-Lock
It successfully stops the mouse cursor from interacting with the taskbar, but it doesn’t prevent interaction with system notifications or windows set to “Always on top.” I don’t have multiple monitors, so I cannot confirm whether it also prevents the cursor from moving to another monitor.
Note:
When this application is active, you’ll need to use Alt + Tab to switch to another window, as it blocks access to the taskbar even when a menu is open.
When I play either in fullscreen or windowed my mouse always finds a way out of the game screen, and its very damaging for playing the game honestly. I’m not sure what could have broken it, but I hope it gets fixed and I don’t need an outside program just to play Bedrock. I hope this gets fixed as it’s quite disruptive.
I lost all my awesome gear id just gotten on the anarchy server I was playing last night. So disappointing. I thought it was my mouse but every time i go to place blocks or click something it messes up my game window every few clicks. Its gonna be unplayable to any real degree without a fix. I just bought the game a month ago at least I got to play for a while before everything was screwed up. guess i will just go back to other games till there is a fix and minecraft was my fave
We should not need an outside server to play when fullscreened, this is a bug that needs to be addressed as it is clearly affecting gameplay. Also, not all of us are tech savvy, so switching between applications can be confusing, and even risky if we get into the wrong kinds.
Moving the mouse cursor to the right makes it go outside the window. This only occurs when the window is maximized (taking up the full screen). The vertical issue occurs in any windowed state (not full-screen)
Entering and exiting full-screen (F11) fixes the horizontal issue.
f11 does not fix the issue if you have multiple monitors.
I found a program on github that fixed the issue for me you run in the background MCBEmouselocker. I mean its not ideal but it works till hopefully they can fix this. I thought my mouse or keyboard was messed up, never seen anything like it. Lost my first set of enchanted netherite and elytra because of this bug it dropped me in lava and paused then minimized the window and pulled up other things.
Also trying to enable the fullscreen toggle in minecraft settings will force crash the entire application. Tested this live on stream while trying to understand why the mouse kept leaving the play area of the screen and clicking on the taskbar or other items when in Maximized mode.
Can confirm that I'm also suffering from the fullscreen toggle crashing the game, would love a bug report number on that one if anyone has it. F11 is fine for some reason though.
Relevant to this bug, can confirm that having the window in smaller than maximized also “fixes” the problem for me. obviously this us an annoying workaround but it's at least allowing me to play.
Same here, thought my laptop had a hardware issue. Switched the mouse, disabled the touchpad.. same issue. Everything’s fine outside of Minecraft.
Notice it most when I right-click in the game and realize the cursor has moved, because the game pauses and the context menu for the title bar or windows taskbar opens. Have to alt-tab away from the game, move the cursor back to the middle of the screen, and then switch back to the game again.
Experiencing a similar issue too.
As of the recent update to v1.21.121, the application will not entirely lock the cursor whilst playing, so when turning your camera far enough in a certain direction, this causes it to move just slightly out of the application window although in full screen. Therefore, when attempting to interact with the game through left or right clicking, it will cause the game to pause as somewhere outside of Minecraft has been interacted with.
This seems to only occur to me when I turn my camera (in-game) to the left, far enough to cause the issue to arise. This may be because of my second monitor on my left which I can see the mouse move just slightly to.
Here’s what I can see on my second monitor:
The issue didn’t seem to arise when I manually made the window smaller or maximised so it wasn’t full screen.
However, I tested Juliee’s issue of the game crashing on full screen toggle but this issue doesn’t occur for me.

Minecraft v1.21.121
Issue occurs when in: Full Screen
Written 8/11/2025 - (DMY)
I would like to add to my comment that the cursor also moves to the taskbar when the application is maximised but not in full screen or when the application window is made slightly smaller.
Yes, this has been happening to me too, and has literally been making the game unplayable
Along with the moving to the right or left and leaving the bounding box of the game itself, attempting to interact with the desktop/whatever application is open behind the game, left clicking will (very often) bring up the toolbar menu of the game window.
OS: Windows 11

Minecraft v1.21.121
Screen: Full Screen Windowed
Steps to Reproduce - Left click mouse 1 while moving your cursor up/down quickly. Happens once every 3-5 mouse clicks.
OS: Windows 11
Minecraft v1.21.121
The game is clearly failing to capture the mouse pointer.
On a single monitor setup, the mouse will leave the game window and interact with other applications/taskbar/desktop unless you have the game set to full screen. On a 2+ monitor setup there is no mitigation without unplugging/disabling the additional displays.
This should definitely be a high priority issue. Only way I’m able to play the game without impact is by using <Windows + P> to turn off my second monitor and using f11 to fullscreen while playing.
this happening to me as well. For me in-game my mouse feels “slippery” when looking around and when i open a gui menu (eg. chest, inventory etc) my mouse is sometimes way off on the right or left. I am also hearing minecraft is pausing with people who have a second monitor when they move their mouse too far. Incredibly annoying.
This bug makes it near-impossible to play properly. Every minute, or less, I have to pause the game to recenter my mouse cursor. If I don’t do that, I risk it going off screen and pausing the game or messing with my movement.
I frankly cannot believe that the game was released into stable in this state. This was evident within the first 2 minutes of me playing the game post-update. I don’t know any solution besides turning off my other monitors, which is just not a workable solution.
I don’t think this has been mentioned but I find that randomly when using the mouse, the scroll wheel is working on a different window I have open, instead of scrolling through my item hot-bar, yet moving the mouse still moves the camera in game.
I know it’s so annoying, with two monitors even in fullscreen the mouse drifts to my second monitor, however when in windowed it does the same but instead drifts to the task bar, and when I just click it puts me to the menu, smallest and stupidest bug that could be resolved so easily and should’ve been noticed.
Happens both in Full Screen and Window mode when looking to far right or down.
Cursor moved to other screen when using mouse and open the pause menu every second to 20th mouse click in full screen view.
Disconnection the second screen entirely didn’t work either, it’s exactly the same.
Window view is basically the same also but is somewhat more broken, the game window partially moved outside the screen and partially into the second screen…
I know this is not a permanent solution and it is frustrating but If you have full screen and a second monitor. If your cursor is going to the right and clicking on your monitor. Just only turn left. Instead of turning Right and clicking do a left 360. This is what I have been doing to still play the game until they fix it.
If you are not able to scroll for your hot bar that means your mouse is on the second monitor so just do a quick left 360 and you can scroll on your mouse.
This renders the game almost unplayable. Anytime you look far left or right the next click may bring up the menu instead of action in game. This can get you killed if you are in a fight with mobs. When this happens the scroll wheel also does not work. Switching full-screen to window with F11 sometimes briefly solves the problem, but it happens in both modes.
I’m having the same issue on Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.121 (Windows, Launcher version).
Even in fullscreen or borderless window, the mouse doesn’t stay locked inside the game.
When I move the camera or try to shoot an arrow, the cursor sometimes escapes to the edge or to another monitor.
It even clicks on the Windows taskbar or minimizes the game if I aim near the bottom of the screen.
This makes aiming with bows or tridents almost impossible.
I’m having this same issue on Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.121 with Windows 10.
The mouse keeps moving out of the game window or acting weird when I play.
I already tried reinstalling, updating drivers, and turning off fullscreen, but nothing helped.
Hope this gets fixed soon, it’s really annoying.
I think this is an oversight that they forgot to snap mouse movement to the center of game window since this didn’t happen before. This would be the perfect moment to have the mouse snap to center like it does on Java.
This problem makes the game unplayable and I haven’t been able to play Minecraft for more than 9 days…
Its only on this new version the other version everything worked great even being able to import addons
I’m having the same issue on Bedrock version 1.21.121 on Windows 11. When I’m playing and move the mouse downward, the cursor leaves the game window and clicks on the taskbar.
It’s also very annoying that when you open a chest, close it, and then turn to open another one, the mouse cursor jumps to the other side of the screen. It’s really uncomfortable to play like this — I hope it can be fixed soon.
If you arent able to play and want to download MCBEmouselocker from github it fixed the issue for me. Isnt perfect but it works. Its a program you run along with minecraft. It fixed it perfectly for me just takes a bit of resources. It locks the cursor constantly or something I dunno but it works. Its like playing normally. Course if they fix this you wont need it anymore but its free so there is a solution for yall if you wanna try it.
On dual monitor setup, cursor will go out of game’s monitor and click elements in second one, pls fix
i keep accidently closing the game and opening other tabs
it’s extremely annoying
Same here, makes the game basically unplayable with mouse if you have multiple monitors
tri monitor setup here. mouse escapes fullscreen and clicks on things randomly in the background in each direction. its frustrating enough that i wont be renewing my realms subscription until its resolved
This issue is a serious problem. While playing the game the mouse will move outside the screen bounds and close, edit, and manipulate other windows on the second, and third monitors. It causes issues with recording, and creating content. This has started effecting my livelihood and income. Please roll this back to previous versions of Minecraft as this issue started in 1.21.121Hotfix.
I have a duel monitor setup. Mouse will escape fullscreen during gameplay and when you click it will pause the game because you click off the game window. Very frustrating.
MCBEmouselocker will let you play until they fix this… if they fix it.

Windows Notifications whilst playing the game exemplifies this issue
Fixed in 1.21.122 it seems
It still persists in 1.21.122 for me
Still moves for me too
In 1.21.122 Hotfix, the cursor no longer appears over the taskbar or title bar and interacts with it, but it can still appear over notifications or windows set to “always on top” and interact with those. For anyone with multiple monitors, please let me know whether the cursor can still move over to your other monitor and interact with it.
For me it’s solved, played for half an hour, no problems, thanks!
Still getting the bug
If you play continuously in a single screen mode (fullscreen or windowed) is fixed, however, if you’re in fullscreen, pause the game, resume, and change to windowed using F11, the cursor can now escape at the bottom and interact with the taskbar
This is what I mean, my secondary monitor is on the right so I’m showing the cursor doesn’t move right anymore by moving right constantly and clicking
I am getting the bug exactly the same before and after 1.21.122
Me when I forget to attach the video
My guess is that when switching display modes using F11, depending on the locking method Mojang is using, the game is not reevaluating the bounding box when using F11 to change the display mode
I was able to confirm the behavior you describe, Snivine. I have updated the bug report’s description.
It’s still happening on 1.21.122
They fixed it but they don’t fix the cursor center locking on 1.21.122
not locking*
Taskbar still pops up in windowed in 1.21.122
Still happening, cursor does not move to another screen but in the same screen after playing for a while then opening any inventory cursor is always on a screen edge
v1.21.122 appears to have fixed this issue for me. I back to playing on second monitor with it at maximum. From other comments, it didn’t fix it for everyone.
v1.21.122 fixed the cursor going out of the window, but it doesn’t lock to the centre of the game, so it’d be nice to have it either lock the mouse to the centre of the screen on move the cursor to the middle of the window when opening UI that requires the mouse.
Thank you for your patience while we continue to work on this issue. We’re pleased to hear it’s resolved for many of you, but we know more work is needed. Please be assured that we’re actively addressing the remaining problems and aim to have the bug fully fixed as soon as possible.
Still affects 1.21.123 — the cursor does not re-center like on version 1.21.120 when opening containers, pausing the game, etc
That is a different issue, which is being tracked at MCPE-230975 .
The mouse is still interacting with the taskbar during gameplay for me.
I’d imagine this is already known, especially since is in the changelog, but I wanna leave it just in case
still affected 1.21.123 using the method I described earlier.
Can we have the report updated to include 1.21.123?
Happened to me too
instead of leaving the screen and interacting with different windows the game now updates to where the cursor is suddenly and unpredictably
the 1.21.1234 hotfix locks it but it still happens light slight movement moves the camera
I’m using the 1.21.12402.0 version and I still have this issue! Not Fixed!! @Mojang
This also happens in the full release with the latest hotfix (1.21.121)
