Okay so in this Better Together Beta release I tried converting my Xbox One Edition save to the new Minecraft Version. But when I converted the world, newly generated land formed over my world. Resulting in only a few buildings being normal while some were cut in half because of the poor Conversion. Fix this. We have waited so long for a buggy crashy mess.

My main base was obliterated by the update.
Also, I spawned on TOP of the iron farm I was supposed to spawn at the bottom of. (Which was cut in half.)
This happens to my world no matter which version I try to convert. (I had a backup and the "current" version that I'd played on since the backup was made)
A giant bridge as well as an entire underwater palace have been replaced by desert in my game.
This happened to me as well. Half of my stuff is there but the rest in brand new land.
I had issues as well, but not so much with buildings that I have built. Instead I noticed the following.
First is that beacons were not active any longer, I had to reset each one.
Secondly all my witch huts no longer spawn witches
Third some hoppers were oddly enough changed to 'sponges'.
Finally all spawners no longer work, when looking at them they do not have any type of mob inside them, the spawner still has flames and a spawn like animation with something invisible spinning inside but it never spawns anything.
Same thing for my world that I uploaded.
I was able to successfully convert my world, I went back into XB1v and resaved my "current" world while in the Nether. Tried it because a backup from a month ago that was saved in the Nether appeared to work.
Spawns are still broke, and I found at least one Sponge where a Hopper should be. Bonus?
Beacons...needed to be "reset" and still appear nonfunctional, even after resetting.
i transferred the same world 3 times, 2 times it was fine and 1 time newly gernerated land spawned over old explored land. just delete the world and try to transfer it again
I have the same issue. A huge square of desert was put in place of my main area with my houses and other builds. I spent probably hundreds of hours on that area and now buildings are missing or cross sectioned. The world is from early 2013.
I also have this issue. After multiple attempts, my largest world was finally converted and when I load it, new land is generated where everything else once was. Biomes changed, all blocks changed, all items gone. I thought I was on a different map, but looking at my actual minecraft map shows my old world and as I travel around it is replaced with the new generation.
Previously successfully converted world was broken by latest update. Save was in the Nether, upon loading I spawned inside Netherrack and all indications were that my Nether had been reset with me in it. Also holding down the right trigger only activated my pickaxe once at a time. And all attempts to reconvert my world have met with failure and overwritten terrain/structures in BOTH the Overworld AND Nether, with no apparent relation between the two as far as coordinates go (the overwritten areas do not correspond to each other).
Having the same issue with my world. A few structures survived but the world conversion broke everything else with new chunks. Receipt: 2017/09/05/14:38:57-02404be9-ae8f-a1c-e-1d8c-dd30d660b39f
I too have this issue. The world my wife and I play survival on only has about 10% of the original terrain after conversion. I was hoping this would be fixed in the final build, but thats not the case. The world is 3 years old an would be a shame to lose.
This still occurs even with the final Better Together update (v1.2.0). Like others have mentioned here, this affects a world that my family and I have poured hours of attention and effort into. If the conversion isn't supported, then I don't think I will be able to continue playing Minecraft as the thought of just "starting over" is unpalatable.
Happens to me as well. Honestly really annoying. I save and exit in my house on xbox version then switch over to Bedrock version, re-sync data, and convert again. Everything is different and all new. nothing i had exists in the converted world.
350Mb world. Most of it get overwritten by new chunks after conversion to 1.2.0.
288mb world. Almost everything is cut off and replaced. 😞
Several tries of converting our world, both in beta and with bedrock. huge chunk of world (which happens to center right on our castle/house and beacon) has been overwritten, everything else is as it was in Xbox One version. Have tried to reset our spawn point several chunks away. Tried reinstalling both beta and bedrock. Tried saving while in the nether. Nothing works to undo. No way we're transferring worlds if this cannot be fixed.
My issue was marked as a duplicate of this issue so I will add my relevant data here to help.
Seed: -8434814575835167583
This world was originally created on the Xbox One Edition. The conversion to the new Better Together (bedrock) edition completes. However, the world is incorrect. There is a large body of water that cuts into the area surrounding the starting point. Other areas are incorrect as well.
I have attempted to re-convert after updating, playing, and saving the game again in the Xbox One Edition in case the update changed the save format. This did not work.

Spent 5 hours last night copying, syncing, hard resetting, you name it. I can't get a successful transfer from xbox one to this "Better" Together update. When it finally did load, the world had chunks of terrain that obliterated my awesome builds. My pyramid casino was completely cut in half. My Aladdin castle...gone. Nothing but ocean. Flying with fireworks, forget it. Crashed the game instantly at least 10 times I tired. PLEASE for the love of God, fix this!! I've been looking forward to this for some time. I thought there was a BETA. If I can't get my world transferred, I think I might be done with Minecraft after all these years. Beyond frustrated. My survival world is one of the best, no BS.
Same thing happened to me, I tried converting my world from Xbox One Edition to Bedrock Edition, twice, with as much as three quarters of the city I built at and around the x = 0, z = 0 point being wiped out, along with the first house I built in that world... Interestingly, more of the world got converted on the second try than on the first... Hm...
I would suggest you do this when all other troubleshooting to no avail. Hold map across the area you want it updated to the file. After that, save and exit, and close the game. Start new MC game, delete the failed one and re-download the world. I want to see if your world is intact. I helped my friend. It seems worked. 50/50 chance.
I have the same issue after transferring my old world the game decided to generate a dessert through spawn, deleting my farm's, my villager trading hall, my starter house. Bassically everything except my storage hall. It looks the generation only stopped at the chests i have there.

Yeah, the same happened to me. My + and - coordinates got swapped, and everything in the (formerly) negative coordinates got overwritten by new chunks. And my game file went from a 260mb file to a 100mb file
Do you guys suppose that we should each give Mojang one copy of our original Xbox One world, and one or more unopened copies of their incorrectly converted versions? That is, if we can figure out how to do that?
If we do, we should make sure we position our character facing one of the chunks that gets overwritten, that way the developers can see this weird phenomenon happening for themselves when they actually check out our worlds, not to mention that this would offer the possibility of a code analysis, or even a code comparison between how the worlds should convert and how they do convert...
Same
Same here! Please fix!
My spawn point and main area (Southeast on same map) were overwritten.
I can't continue to play the new minecraft if everything in my world is overwritten with new, regenerated chunks.
Its literally the only world I play and work on and if its ruined ill never be playing the new version unless world conversion of large worlds are fixed.
Experiencing same issue. Waiting for fix before I dive into Better Together.
I too have this exact issue. I have a world from the 360 through to xbox one and now here. I'm not the greatest builder in the world but I'm pretty competent and have put many hundreds of hours into a single survival world.
first conversion attempt, when it actually managed to convert and after the multitude of hard and dashboard crashes, an ocean monument had spawned almost in the centre of my base/hometown, eradicating a lot of work. second conversion attempt started creating new terrain even sooner than the first conversion, and the third conversion attempt resulted in my xbox switching itself off (not a joke).
new Minecraft was supposed to usher in an awesome new era of Minecraft, but understandably if people's worlds are not converting an accumulation of millions of hours of work, 'starting over' really doesn't sound palatable.
addendum: I have tried converting my world about a dozen times now, a couple of times the xbox will switch itself off during conversion, and every time it does convert there is a brand new ocean monument, together with a big chunk of ocean, in my base. the area it spawns in isn't even oceanic, it's desert and savannah with 2 rivers, 1 of which I built. the file size is 334mb but after conversion it isn't even half that, and if I enter the world and exit the file size drops even further!?! on top of that there seems to be some regularity of Minecraft affecting the guide button - pressing the guide button while in Minecraft will occasionally dull the screen for some time then I get an error report and I can't exit Minecraft without switching off the console.
I am having the exact same issue. All of the hundreds of hours of my creations have been wiped away like shit from my ass by the conversion rewriting old chunks. I will not be playing the new Minecraft on Xbox One, because just like shit, it should be wiped away and flushed down the toilet. Until a world can be properly converted I will be playing the superior previous edition.
We ran into some conversion issues, but they were fixed by deleting the converted world and trying again. Everything seems fine now.
You guys really need to be patient with this and quit freaking out. This is a brand new version on the bleeding edge of technology, no permanent damage is being done. You don't have to play on this version immediately, worst come to worst, just go play on the old version until this one can be fixed. Calm down!!
Same thing here hope this issue gets fix soon should hold off on getting realms 😞 and put a hold on getting xbox one x intell this is fixed
Rob, why would you need to hold off on an Xbox One X? This has nothing to do with the One X, sounds like some kids are overreacting.
This happened to me too, my original spawn was overwritten as well as every chunk on the negative x axis. World was large, 100% explored, with medium biome scale prior o converting.
This needs to be fixed. There is no point in even converting to the new version until this issue is resolved. I expected a number of bugs, but come on, one of the most critical components to getting people to switch to the new version is to be able to convert your world. This should have been tested again and again to make sure it was working. It doesn't even look like they tested it at all.
I have about 4-5 maps that I care about in my world. The rest of the world is minor things. Hopeful that they will fix this soon.
Dawson, the option to delete is hidden in the poorly designed UI at the bottom of the Game Options.
I'm glad to see that they've finally changed the status of this bug to "Confirmed". I hope this means they'll fix it soon...
Ok so we are having an issue where even after we have made our beds, slept in them, saved, and exited the game we still end up re-spawning back at the original starting point. We also lose everything we had on us. So we are having to pretty much having to re-start over and over again. We are leaving a trail of sand and dirt towers so we can find our houses again lol
Brandie, I think that's a separate bug from this one... Try reporting that bug separately...
Here is a YouTube video I found of someone that has also been a victim of this game breaking bug. He does a nice job of showing the bug in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1weRMd95cY
Really hoping this gets fixed... 😞 Can't believe the game's current state at release.
I am having this issue as well. I took some screenshots of the updated map before and after the conversion. The one with purple arms is Xbox One Edition, the other is the new Bedrock base.
[media][media]
Hope this gets resolved soon.
I swear my xbox is going to break with the amount of times I've had to hard reset trying to convert my world. I've wasted 3 days at least. Is there any update on this issue? I really want to enjoy this new edition of Minecraft but I'm on the verge of quitting altogether. This is a HUGE issue and should be priority #1. Obviously the people with the bigger worlds are not going to be starting over given the time invested. The UI is garbage so maybe I'll stick with xbox one edition until the conversion issue is fixed. I have a bad feeling this won't be resolved. Add coordinates, give us the ability to turn off auto save, clean up the horrible UI, and stop crashing my xbox!
How is this still not fixed even after the recent bug fix????
Im so tired of still playing the xbox one edition just to play my world.
I tried converting my xbox1 world several times and my original build kept getting smaller/disappearing with more and more new chunks—now if I try its completely gone.

In the 1.2.1 update this still happens...
Faced issue converting world from XB1E save. Tried again today after 1.2.1 update but same result. More info on issue: original save file is 258MB converted is 164mb.
My world to is broken, 358.9mb word won't transfer anything west of the center of the map. file size after ranges from 150 to 180mb. It also won't transfer other randomized chunk areas. Nether also won't convert.
All I can do is play on the old version till this is fixed sad to say.
This should have been a bigger priority along with the crashes and other more major bugs.
P.S. people stop raging over things you don't even know of the difficulty that is coding. A single spot in one line of code could be breaking everything.
Same here. My 316mb world I created in early 2013 will not transfer over correctly. It transfers over up to 150mb and generates new chunks on an area I’ve spent hundreds of hours clearing and building on. The game also freezes, crashes, and restarts my Xbox One S. This game doesn’t seem ready for release. If they can’t fix these issues, I’ll stick with Xbox One edition. I just wish 4J could continue updating it.
so we're on 1.2.1 now and still no resolution. I think I can speak for many people when I say this bug is killing Minecraft for me - 6 years of work wrecked. I was going to comment that maybe the issue is tied to overworld/nether ratio but I just realised that a large world on xbone edition is the proper 1-8 ratio (i thought it was still 1-3). I'm not a coder, in even the most lay of terms, so I have absolutely no idea of the problem's cause or solution, and I'm certainly not hating on mojang because bugs will happen. however, "game breaking bug" is a term thrown around far too liberally and dishonestly, but a bug of this magnitude is literally game breaking. maybe not in terms of the game as a whole but it absolutely breaks each and every world suffering from this bug, and I (we) can only hope it gets fixed.
For the moment I just keep playing on the xbox one edition. It is disappointing but as long as they get it figured out, I can have a bit more patience. Hopefully not too long a wait...
Has there been any update from the developers on this issue? Is this at least being worked on or are they focusing all their time on this new micro-transaction cash grab type of game which is now Minecraft? I will continue to play the xbox one version, but I am getting a bit impatient. I've literally been waiting for this for over 5 years. Well, at least the ability for others to jump on the world without me having to be online. This is not at all what I was expecting. This "Better Together" update seems to be a pretty big failure at this point and is turning off a lot of their dedicated players. I'm concerned im putting a lot of stress on my xbox with attempting to convert so many times and being forced to hard reset. Would be nice to hear that this wont be available for a month. Some news would be helpful so I can stop wasting my time every couple days with hopes it will magically work.
This issue keeps hanging my XBOX One. I don't even know what a converted world behaves like.
My world save is ~260 Mb.
I have to do a hard reset each time. I have reset and kept my files on the xbox. There has been an error message that keeps popping up on the xbox before I am forced to preform a hard reset "xbox one has encountered an error... 0x80040200"
It should be added that this event happens ~80% world conversion.
If I leave the xbox alone to convert the world it will sometimes crash out and I will come back to the home page.
EDIT:
As of 05/10/2017 I have reinstalled Minecraft tried to re-convert my world and made it to 85% before it faulted out with "0x80040200" error. After the error my entire XBOX One became unstable where it would take 20 to 30 seconds to preform a task if at all.
Question: Does the conversion create some kind of memory leak? Is it the xbox platform that is breaking the process?
As of today’s release of 1.2.2, there still is no fix to this issue that, to me, should take precedent over most other issues. The fact that some of the most important worlds to us are not at all able to be used on the new version is simply ridiculous. Where’s the priority, guys!?
I went ahead and attempted a conversion today, and I noticed that nothing has changed. I spawned in a newly generated area where my house used to be. Also, when I did begin playing it still froze up my Xbox requiring a hard restart. When I logged back in and died it sent me to my spawn point where the same piece of my spawn house remained from the overwritten chunks from the previous two versions. I believe it could be part of the same issue, but the last save it offers to convert is dated for 09/23/17. I've been playing the Xbox One version still every day, including today 10/04/17. I'm wondering why the most recent save isn't syncing with the Bedrock version.
Gamertag: NJustUs4All
World: Bastion (Renamed from Madison County; attempting name change as a potential fix)
The first picture is where the game loaded. I should be in my house.
The second is my spawn point in the Xbox One version vs the Bedrock version
Third is a temple I had split in half by new chunks
This same thing happened to my main World! Still an issue 10/05/17 happy bday to me.
My seed is -157188767
Tried it in 1.2.2 didn't work. This is starting to get on my nerves. I've been looking forward to the better together update since the anouncement. And now i still can't play it on my old survival world. Also keep on playing xbox one edition isn't really interesting to me, because i have a lot of redstone projects planned. And don't get me wrong, i don't hate the game now and i don't hate the devs. I love minecraft and from a little bit of playing in a creative world generated by the bedrock engine, i'm gonna love playing it. But it would be nice if one of the devs maybe can explain to us whats going on and how far along they are to resolving the bug. Or maybe they can tell us how to help them to speed up the proces. Instead of leaving all of us a bit in the dark.
Attention everyone! Beta 1.2.3 for XBox and Win10 has been released!
EVERYONE send in your broken converted worlds and see that this bug is finally fixed!
If we all send in our worlds the devs will pay attention to our problem.
Get uploading!
My world was from Xbox 360. When I converted a world made on Xbox One, the conversion worked fine. It may have something to do with how 360 worlds were generated and how the games themselves convert them (360>One>BT)
@freddy: i don't think that is the problem, my world was genetated on xboxone edition. I think it has something to do with the seeds. My seed changed after converting.
@Koen, i havent checked what the seed has changed to. that could be another possible answer
You wake up in the morning, your paint's peeling, your curtains are gone, and the water is boiling. Which problem do you deal with first? - None of them, the house is on fire ! - Dev. priorities ... Also, is someone has seen a change since the last update ?? For me, nothing changed for 2 weeks... Consol crash, massive overwritten area and lag .... And still waiting
Guys... It looks like both this issue and MCPE-25344, also affect the 1.2.3 Beta (see MCPE-27480)... If this is the same pair of glitches, perhaps we finally have a shot at getting a fix for all three... Besides, the fact that 1.2.3, which appears to be a bugfix update, has a beta stage, strikes me as being highly unusual... I don't think this would be the case if this bug wasn't a big a problem in the eyes of the devs...
UPDATE: It looks like I was right, as Mojang have finally acknowledged the world conversion issues on Xbox One on the official site. See here:
https://feedback.minecraft.net/knowledgebase/articles/1812805-minecraft-android-beta-1-2-3-build-1
Summary:
After converting an Xbox One "Console Edition" save to a "Better Together/Bedrock" Xbox One save, large parts of the world in the new save didn't match up with the original save.
Description:
After converting an Xbox One "Console Edition" save to a "Better Together/Bedrock" Xbox One save, large parts of the world on the new save didn't match up with the original save. This includes (automatically generated) terrain and user created sections of the map being mismatched between the original and new saves.
Please see the screenshot attached: "XboxOne_to_Bedrock_Save_Conversion_Issue.png" (In the image parts of the terrain don't correspond to the original save and parts of the user created building are missing).
Details:
"Better Together/Bedrock" Xbox One Version: v1.2.2
"Console Edition" Xbox One Version: CU49
Xbox One OS Version: 10.0.15063.4103 (rs2_release_xbox_1706.170830-1908)
Reproduction steps:
In "Console Edition" version:
Launch the game
Select "Play Game" from the main menu
Select an existing save from the "Load" tab
Select "Load"
After the world has loaded in press pause and select "Exit"
Select "OK" to save
Wait for the save to complete
In "Better Together/Bedrock" version:
Launch the game
Select "Play"
Select "Sync Old Worlds"
Under "Old Worlds" select the name of the world from the "Console Edition" that was just saved in the previous steps
Wait for the conversion process to complete
Under "Worlds" select the converted world
Observe that the world doesn't match the world in the original save
Thanks a lot.
Latest update has not fixed the issue, even after attempting another conversion. See my screenshots above- same issue.
-Go the xbox insider or windows 10 insider program.
-Download the Minecraft beta.
-Select “sync old worlds”.
-Click Y on the old world that you know doesn’t convert correctly.
-Upload it (To the development team).
We all need to upload our worlds we are unable to convert so that the devs can isolate this bug...
Adam, where do I find the Xbox insider program?
The insider app can be found on the store on both platforms.
Simply search for it, then download it using it to access the beta.
I'll try the upload tonight. Running 1.2.2 was going to switch to 1
2.3 beta tonight.
I sent my old world earlier tonight - Receipt : 2017/10/08/02:08:45-86dddda7-0a33-bf06--fe04-46658761de3b
Problem: Converting this world on the better together version (world made originaly from the 360, then to the One) cause massive overwritten aeras that erase ±95% of all my original constructions (±50% of the old map change from its original form for apparently no reason).
If you can see the before / after conversion, you will understand my frustration...
I hope it will help, thanks
Hi, tried to send my world to Mojang over the weekend as part of the BETA 1.2.3 program investigation. Unfortunately while the upload was in progress this caused the game to crash 4 seperate times and the upload failed.
I have created a new bug for this in case any others experience this same when trying to upload world to Mojang.
Things are definitely NOT better together.
Any idea when they are going to fix this?
I think they're trying to study the samples of this glitch that come in, Joe... At any rate, when 1.2.3 comes out as a full release, I hope they will have fixed it by then...
1.2.3 hasn't fixed this problem, plus the notes at the start telling us what has been fixed says "tons of crash fixes", and my Minecraft crashed on this screen o.0 (just wondering, if my xbone dies from the volume of dashboard and hard crashes caused by Minecraft will I be refunded an xbone?)
the fact that this is persisting while they continue to add marketplace stuff is very disheartening.
Eh... the 1.2.5 beta is only for Android, not Xbox, and they still haven't actually released the full version of 1.2.3 yet... I'm still hoping that they're taking their time to study our world conversion issues...
xbox one is now on 1.2.3
Okay... at the time I made my previous comment, they hadn't yet updated the official wiki... Sorry about that...
You would think that after the problems with 360 to Xbox One they would’ve had the world conversion thing figured out by now. If not then after 40+ reports being duplicates of this one that they would put more importance on the issue. The fact that the game has had so many updates and still isn’t working right is ridiculous.
yeah whoever said 'disheartening' was right. The worst part is I asked them on support when they might fix it and they wont tell us... At least give us a time frame so we can know what to expect, not leave us in limbo. All they said is 'watch the bug tracker.' That's pretty bogus since they just released a brand new game and it doesn't even work... Now they want to leave us on the limb...
It is pure greed and incompetence that this is still a problem. I'm a programmer and if this was really a problem they were concerned with, it would already be solved. It would have been fixed by the following week after the better together release. They obviously dont care about this problem.
Mike, until the devs finally say something about this whole thing, how about let's all browse this site and look for more duplicates... That way we can actually help the devs out with this... Trust me, I've seen more duplicates of this bug than just the ones listed here on this page... for instance, MCPE-27986...
Sorry about the earlier versions of this comment...
Same here, since this 1.2.3 update came out it has worsened and improved the problem. It has replaced more chunks around the centre of the world, but it has fixed some areas in places. The issue is mainly involving save files over 200 MB since this version is meant to replace the Xbox one edition it makes it incredibly frustrating, this game should still be in beta to be honest.
I certainly agree that there should be another beta just to give the devs time and space to finally squash this troublesome bug... Hopefully we'll get another Xbox One beta soon...
Are you sure that only files over 200 MB are affected though? To answer this question, maybe one of us should try creating a world that's smaller than 200 MB, then try to convert it over to Bedrock...
Wow, those reviews certainly are bad... I would think that after seeing reviews like these, the devs would have the sense to try and fix this mess... Perhaps when their sales of this Bedrock Edition slump, they'll rethink things... Here's to hoping that's the case...
Of course, I'm still hoping they actually care and are trying to fix this and that they are not actually as apathetic as you say...
I hope too :/ I'm waiting they prove me i'm wrong
Hmm... Maybe the prospect of having to deal with such a massive and likely complicated bug is simply daunting to the developers... I would think that the case... especially if one is trying to unify play on different devices that originally ran Minecraft with different code bases...
As far as I'm aware, this is the first time something like this has been done... and don't forget... they still have to worry about the release of Minecraft on Nintendo Switch... So, if they want to avoid a similar disaster to this one, they'll have to work even harder to try and get the Switch version functional... and hopefully, that means finally fixing this bug...
those are indeed bad reviews, but definitely warranted.
seeing how many problems there are in better together, small bugs and game breaking bugs, I've become surprised that it was released at all in this state - if I were mojang/microsoft I would absolutely delay the switch release (which they should've done on xbone) to make sure they don't release a buggy mess.
I have faith (possibly misplaced) that it is being worked on, but when it continues to be updated without any progress on game breaking bugs its hard to maintain that faith when the updates keep adding marketplace content - I can't speak for everyone but to me it feels like Microsoft are going "bugs? meh. moneymoneymoney"
as an aside, I have a small iron farm going, small enough that golems occasionally spawn outside the farm, but since 1.2.3 any time a golem spawns outside the farm my framerate plummets to about 10 a second, and maybe as low as 5.
Those bad reviews are warranted all right... but I think the devs may need more time to study this issue before an adequate fix can be made, Callum... After all, with an issue this bad, you don't just want a quick fix, but a good, solid one. Until that fix comes, let's just try converting worlds that are smaller than 200 MB, and see if this glitch affects those... Also, we need to be proactive and look for duplicates on this site that haven't yet been identified as such, like I said. Those are the only steps I can think of for us to take right now...
Since MCPE-27986 is a duplicate of this, can someone please add 1.2.5.0 and 1.2.3.6 as affected versions in the description of this bug?
mmmmm I've just tried to convert my 290mb old world... It looks like it worked. Usualy, when I convert my world, it passes to 150mb and half of the world disapeared, but now it does 215mb and ALL my constructions are there. Is it chance or the bug is fix ???
Pascal, my world is 351.0 MB, and it's still not fully converted. However, it did get as much as 286.7 MB converted (a first for me), and I'm in the process of trying to see what's converted and what isn't. At least the town I built at x = 0, z = 0 is all there (also a first for me)... However, on the previous attempt to convert this same world, the aforementioned town was completely absent, replaced by new chunks...
They updated the game yesterday without announcing it, and I only found out about the update here in the comments section on this site. I think the update was a partial fix for the world conversion process. However, they still have a ways to go yet before it's completely fixed...
Yeah maybe but things are moving, and that what is important !
Note: before today, I've tried maybe 10 or 15 times to convert my world with always the same result. And now it works ... One of my building was on fire but it was here !
Good news, I just finished checking the central area of my world and there are no overwritten areas there... However, that's just one out of twenty-five areas I need to check... Let's see what happens when they finally get this whole bug fixed and not just one piece of it...
After all, my Overworld and Nether were fully explored before the Better Together Update, and that's a lot of terrain that needs to be converted...
Jusr tried conversion. Good news it seemed to work, all my old buildings are there. Bad news, game suffers extreme stutter whenever i get close to my buildings. Glad they are getting closer, but definately feels like having the perfect apple on the tree just out of reach at the moment. - more info on this, the stuttering only starts in the evening and lasts through the night. I'm on survival peaceful at the moment, so I do not think it is stuttering because of mobs spawning. If l sleep in bed the next morning the stutering is gone. I am assuming it is a lighting glitch. I'll create a seperate bug if enough people have the same issue, but for now i'll wait to see how others go.
I just finished checking two more areas of my world, and they're also intact... Because my world was fully explored prior to conversion, I'll know if something is amiss. So, I'll keep posting updates here to let you guys know what I find in my world...
By the way, Koolen, I noticed the stutter you mentioned...
My world has also been overwritten. My end portal and tunnels to it have totally disappeared. There are however the occasional torch dotted around if i dig around. Most of my entire surface map has been replaced with new terrain and building no longer exsist that i have built.
Still not a single chunk fixed for me.....
There's so much time and work into this world. Not exaggerating close to 1000hours probably, maybe even more. A massive, real-sized medieval city with legit architecture replaced entirely by a barren, snowy tundra.
Blaze, did you re convert your world and still not working? I doubt it will be fixed without re attempting the conversion. Once converted, it is set.
I may make another conversion attempt now that someone seems to have a successful conversion.
I already tried to convert for maybe the 12th time this last Sunday. Every time I try the conversion I delete the last failed converted world and attempt to convert the same world again. I was thinking I missed the tiny hotfix update after 1.2.3 but I dont think so because I even reinstalled the game to make sure I had the lastest update.
To Blaze - Have you sent your world to Mojang ?
Yes, I've even joined the 1.2.3 beta and attempted to convert the world on that beta. And the chunks were still replaced. I then uploaded sent the world to mojang pressing Y on that same beta.
After sending my world in to be looked at, about a week later it has been fixed ✌🏼
If you also send your receipt with the problem description, i think it's now a question of time ...
I kind of figured that there was more to this bug... I guess this bug is like an onion and the hotfix update only removed one or two layers of it...
Judging from what I've heard here about Blaze's case, along with my own and that of several other people, I think this bug might be partially connected to world seed, and which layer of this glitch you see happen in your world (if any) has a lot to do with the world seed and the numbers that are being crunched by the game as a result...
I'll consider sending my world testing receipt but I would guess i'd get a generic response.
Next failed world conversion I do I'll post before and after pics. Xbox one edition vs Bedrock edition
I sent my world since october the 7th! I'm waiting! ^^
Any relevant receipts from worlds sent recently would be much appreciated!
Mega_Spud, I still think that someone should add 1.2.5.0 and 1.2.3.6 as affected versions in the description of this bug... It's bothering me that this hasn't been done yet, and I don't think I'm in a position to do so...
Added affected versions.
I tried yesterday on 1.2.5 (.12 I believe) ... didn't have time to fully explore world for missing chunks, but at least "home" map seems ok.
Mega_Spud You would like that I re-send my world with a new receipt? 🙂 (sorry if there are mistake I'm French)
I re-sent it but I can't have the full receipt because I can't scroll to the bottom of the message box... it's: 2017/10/25/18:35:27-7972827e-16be-2- (I don't have the end :-/)
Just sent my world in. Everything about what I’m experiencing can be found at this link: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-26127
Receipt:
2017/10/25/19:48:20-3afd7b3f-b5e1-f78a-808a-7cfabf0f92b7
To add to that, I don’t think I have to say this but I’ll go ahead and add: this comes from the current build of the beta i.e. 1.2.5.12
Thanks for updating the list of affected issues, Killerbeenl... However, you missed 1.2.5.0, and the reason I know that that version is affected is because of MCPE-27986, which is a duplicate of this issue and lists 1.2.5.0 as an affected version...
@@unknown
I can only update the ticket with the currently released versions. This gives a estimate what versions are affected. The most important thing is posting the receipts, if you still experience this issue and do participate in the beta so the team can have a look at the specific issues. As requested by @unknown here.
Okay, my mistake... I guess I just haven't been hanging around here long enough to really know the ropes...
Just posted up a before and after of another failed conversion tonight.
Xbox One Edition vs. Bedrock Edition
https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/attachment/149554/instasize_171025224250.png
Not too mention while playing on the converted world my entire xbox guide crashes forcing me too do a hard restart.
@Blaze dutkowsky that's hurt! Because your village is cool!
@unknown Can you please provide the receipt number for the world you uploaded?
Receipt Code:
2017/10/07/16:41:17-99df9909-82e4-c4d-5-bcd8-2c9913f42198
I could also send a picture of it if necessary.
That should be fine, thanks 🙂
Uploaded my world that is not converting correctly. It is creating terrain that is not in the original. The world was originally made on the XBox One Edition. I also get the Xbox guide crashes after trying to play in the converted world. The screen goes black and the guide button doesn't do anything. Just a normal shutdown does not help. I have to do a full shutdown of my XB1 (holding down the button on the front of the console for 10 seconds).
Receipt number: 2017/10/26/12:59:57-6f8c4465-e0e9-d0c-3-8e34-776c9fa030b3
So any feedback on my world?
When do you think it will be fixed for me or if ever?
Will the next update fix more problems with this bug and when will the next update come out?
Blaze duftkowsky prepare you to wait! ^^ like I said I don't have any news about my map sent October the 7th! So It's why I re-try to send it, because it's too long (3 weeks) and also because Mega_spud said that recent receipt it's better!
I tried another conversion again last night.
This time I saved right outside of the massive area where chunks are being regenerated before conversion. Once I loaded up after conversion the same exact area was replaced. But this time 5 seconds into loading up the failed converted world my entire xbox crashed and turned itself off.
What is causing this?
The amount of chests? The amount of items in chests?
There are many chests scattered throughout the affected area In buildings and they're all filled to the brim.
Signs? Banners? Misc.
I've placed and removed many sign, banners, armor stands, chests, etc. Within the affected area.
The amount of time spent with specific chunks loaded in your world?
Because I've noticed the chunks being regenerated are the same chunks, relative to the draw distance, that I've spent the most time loaded in my world.
The amount of blocks replaced, and modified in those chunks?
My city is massive and pretty much almost every block in one chunk was modified in some way including the underground with a massive sewer network below all of the buildings.
I could specify with more screenshots exactly where the cutoff point is with regenerated chunks, show where most of the chests are, etc., anything.
@Mega_Spud any word on the sent in world with the receipt, is my world specifically, being looked into at all? What do you think could be the problem?
Im giving this problem up to the 1.3 update and if my world isn't fixed im calling it a bust and giving up on all the countless hours of progress made on this world.
I'm sorry you're still having issues with the world conversion - we are hoping a solution can be found.
In the mean time, it's been reported that moving the world spawn point to a central location can sometimes help with worlds that are getting divided up - that might be worth a try!
By moving the world spawn that disables achievements even after moving to bedrock, right?
My world is all survival and I'll wait and try that only if it's still not fixed after 1.3 as a last solution.
Yes unfortunately it will need to be done in creative / cheats enabled.
Do you know if removing chests and item have been reported to work?
And do you think this issue could be impossible to fix due to the new engine and how these worlds would act on the new bedrock engine?
New beta build’s out, but it looks like my world’s now simply failing to convert.
My receipt is: 2017/11/01/17:21:09-b9a4e17e-b65c-557-2-4f79-c303313a250c
*side note: I don’t know if there’s supposed to be a dash between that 7 and 2 in the middle of the report since the receipt jumped lines but it was there so I went ahead and put it
I'll try again today with the new beta build and tell you how it goes and also upload the world with the receipt if it fails again.
Okay, I got it to transfer. It seems like it eventually works but it took a few tries (and crashes). Thank you!
Did you try anything differently to make it eventually work?
Or just convert...load....delete....and repeat?
On beta build for 1.2.5
First conversion failed
Second conversion failed and sent it into Minecraft and got a receipt.
Third conversion refused to even start and crashed the game and stuck me on a black screen forcing me to restart the console....
Why is my world getting the worst of this?
Edit: So I tried for like the 15th time, it failed everytime while at the same time glitching my console up like 4 times and finally gave up when it randomly turned off and killed my console....
Receipt: 2017/11/01/19:41:20-897bff95-490d-ba7-3-a9f4-00c6f834312e
I've had numerous attempts to convert either;
return to dash in the middle of conversion because Minecraft crashed,
dull/black screen during conversion which needs a hard reset (dull screen often affects the guide button in game also needing a hard reset),
straight up crashes,
or the console switches itself off in mid-conversion.
each one of these has happened multiple times, and the dull screen forcing hard reset also affects a new world.
I have noticed that the newly generated land has seemingly been reduced after one or two updates - there used to be an ocean monument spawning over the portion of my base that had a stronghold and end portal, now its just an ocean.
I dearly hope mojang get this fixed but I'm done with Minecraft until/unless it gets fixed. I tried playing a new world until old world conversion was fixed, but even in a fresh world the amount of problems, and the severity of problems have really screwed over this game and make playing it very unpleasant.
Mega_Spud if you see that (and if you know of course):
-we must to send our world for all BETA update? or one time is OK?....
did we know what happen when we send our World? I would mean, what did the Team who receiv our world? :)
Did anyone try to create a copy on the console edition and after that wait a long time (with the console running)?
Couple of hours in some cases depending on the internet speed and speed of the cloud service (this background process can't be monitored). So the world is for sure completely uploaded to the xbox one edition cloud. Then try to download and convert that copy on bedrock. Does this make any difference?
(note: you might have fast internet, but the cloud service might not be fast so please be patient when trying this)
I will try later today to see. Wish me luck.
I thought i'd give this another try today, since it has been awhile. First attempt failed conversion. Subsequent attempts just hang at "World conversion...0%". I can't get passed this. My last attempt has been stuck at that for the last two hours.
Trying to convert a copy that I made a couple of weeks back so I knew for sure it should be fully updated on the cloud.
I have 3 copies of my world and all of them I've tried in the past and they all regenerate new terrain/fail.
My world has no change with this problem. Still have the Western portion and part of the center map not converting and generating new chunks.
Here is the receipt for the world sent over.
2017/11/01/153929-c74436a3-ba6b-a26-c-a023-b0b1674a15ab.
The world is 358mb and ranges from transferring 150 to 176mb of the world only.
Hope this helps with fixing this bug.
Somebody with an xbox one x try and convert their previously failed world.
I will try it tomorrow for sure.
Tried just playing in a new bedrock world. My boat starting sailing underwater. Water became invisible and I saw the elaborate series of tunnels, lava and monsters underneath (cool, but still a bug), then boat got stuck, when I popped out I plummeted to my death. It’s like they are not even trying. We are just back at the Xbox One edition, because we cannot even play the bedrock version without MASSIVE bug issues.
1 month for my first send... the Cloud is very slow or a problem... :-/
I just tried to convert my Xbox One edition world again. I tried it using the new X console. I am on beta 1.2.5.15 and the world DID convert successfully this time in terms of the terrain. That is the 1st time that has happened for me. Coincidence? I don't know.
There are some issues like the redstone machines are not working properly. Also, I noticed that when I ride a minecart, you can hear footsteps running on whatever surface is underneath the rail lines.
Im not about to pay $500 just to convert my world, so dumb.
But, at least it could be fixed for the people with X's.
I could see them not fixing it and just telling people to convert it on an xbox one x instead. And the bedrock version being only stable on the One X people on the old ones stay on the console version, and one x's go on the bedrock version. Considering the new minecraft is still buggy on the old consoles.
I hope that doesn't happen, this bug and the entire game needs to be fixed for everyone on all Xbox Ones.
Hopefully someone else with this issue and an XB1 X can try it. Who knows, maybe it was simply coincidence that my world has finally converted properly. I hadn't tried it in a while so it may not have necessary been the X that made it work.
If it was the X that made it work, then no I would never expect anyone to upgrade ONLY for their world to convert properly.
My game crashes when I want to re-send my world! I know, we must to be patient (even if I'm patient since 1 month)... but the new BETA doesn't sync my world and I don't know if we must to send our world for all Update... so when I want to try, my game crashes at 4%...
Still waiting for my world to be convertible. I sent the ticket before not long ago. Don't care if all the world didn't convert, just wish that the area with all the main builds wasn't messed up.
Wish there was a word about progress on fixing this bug and if a fix is around the corner or not.
I don’t want to jump to conclusions but my world (of almost 300 mb) concerted and I have just a regular Xbox One from its initial release. Maybe success with the transfer process is more likely with the X but I know firsthand that it’s not needed. Maybe I just got lucky? It certainly didn’t work the first time I tried transferring it with the new beta build. Keep trying!
I just tried to convert my world once again on the 1.2.6.2 beta build and it took nearly 3 hours.....
Once it got to 60% it sped up like 10x and once it finally got to 95% the conversion failed and my xbox "exploded". So now I just wasted three hours of my life and my world still is not on the bedrock edition. But, I guess its getting somewhere since it took a lot longer to convert. Honestly I think my world is just incompatible with the new minecraft....
Receipt: 2017/11/14/01:22:17-6eef317e-f2e7-bc9b-eafe-ac568c52403a
I can finally send my world on 1.2.6.2! (for the third time: 10/07 ⚠️ and 10/25 before) but like the two other send, I can't have the full receipt:
2017/11/14/12:36:12-8c38ba05-6774-fb- (...)
xbox now on 1.2.5
I haven't had a proper a proper look because rocket powered elytra is still crashing the game, but my world conversion is the best it has been so far, but still not entirely there yet. the conversion was by far the longest any conversion attempt has taken, at 2 hours at least 5 times longer than the longest previous attempt, but it converted 1st time without any crashes or console resets. once loaded in there was no immediate crash (every previous successful conversion attempt resulted in a dashboard crash within 10 seconds of the world loading and required a second loading to play), and my base seems to be intact, which is a first, but when I tried to have a flyby the game crashed about 2 seconds after using a rocket. I will have to have a proper look though as my file is 369mb but converted it's only up to 319mb (but that's about double of any previous conversion).
additional, enchanted items now have a visual glitch and stair blocks at head level can be walked through, but overall there is definite progress, and when I go back to playing it I will happily live with these enchanted and stair glitches if world conversion , and the lag problem, is getting fixed.
If the small problems that you have mentioned after converting are fixed will you convert again or will you just keep this successfully converted world?
I don't know yet. 50mb may be a small bit of wilderness, the end, or in the middle of stuff I've built, and I've built a lot so it'll take some time to fully explore. I also have to see if I still have the pathfinding-lag problem.
at the very least it's significant progress for conversion, at least for me but I hope for everyone else too
MINE FINALLY CONVERTED SUCCESSFULLY
No lag or any problems so far, the world successfully converted over 100% intact. After so long this has finally been fixed.
Thank you Mojang for fixing this difficult bug and having my world on the official minecraft. Thank you everyone in the bug tracker for helping me and helping squash this bug.
@Blaze Dutkowsky it's very cool! How did you do? 🙂
The new 1.2.5 update fixed it.
it's because I'm on BETA that I don't have the 1.2.5 Update?
@@unknown Because 1.2.6 (beta) is a higher version then the 1.2.5 retail release, it will not install itself automatically.
Ah... OK! So I wait... but why the 1.2.6 (Beta) don't fix it while the 1.2.5 fix it?
1.2.5 hasn't fixed it entirely. I converted again, and again it converted 1st time with no crashes, but this time it only converted 218mb from a 369mb file, 100mb less than the previous conversion.
so, still not fixed, but significant progress.
My world doesn’t even convert still. Never has. Was hopeful with this update but nothing has changed. Gets to around 84% and crashes.
My world didn't convert with the over with the same file size and everything is intact for me and no chunks regenerated.
And Erik, yours is a different issue - MCPE-25344
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-25344
3rd conversion converted 310 out of 369mb.
a casual look seems to show my overworld all there (at least my main base anyway). the stair glitch seems to have been a 1-off, but all my maps have been returned to the default texture pack, and only where I'm standing is the pack in use (it's not an issue really but i will have to redo every map 😛). would that account for the smaller file size, or is there a degree of compression going on, or are converted worlds supposed to be the exact same file size?
I always figured the world sizes were compressed on the new engine.
that might be the case but 3 conversions and 3 different file sizes...
MCCE on XBox One should be updated until this issue is RESOLVED. Full stop.
STill having the issue. Used to get to about 88%, now it takes a lot longer to get to 4% and then the xbox needs to be rebooted.
got my world provisionally converted...dies every time I try rocket assisted flight to check everything out though.
yep, that's a separate bug. apparently it's caused by using fireworks crafted pre-conversion.
*I can confirm using newly (post conversion) crafted rockets while flying doesn't crash the game, so I can now have a proper examination of my world.
the conversion reset all my maps to the default textures and I've just flown by my first map overwriting the default texture with the one I use. since I was flying and the map was changing texture I can't be certain but I think there is changes to terrain, albeit very small changes, maybe a few trees here, a small stream there etc, but not anywhere I've built so far as I can tell.
but as I say, I can't be certain there is changes in terrain or me only thinking there is...*
Please keep comments related the ticket at hand where possible. The ticket for converted firework rockets causing crashes is MCPE-25337 please add a vote and any new information there. Many thanks.
The issue of "Conversion from XB1E to Bedrock Edition causes chunks to be newly generated"
I started up my world and I discovered that it mashed together one of my past saves with my current one and left many things deleted and half spawned. Any one have any ideas on how to reverse the effect or fix it???
does anyone have anything definitive on bedrock having smaller save files from converted worlds? I'm examining my world that converted 310mb from 369mb, and every time I save and quit the file size gets smaller. it went up as I flew around to 320mb, but after exploring some of the end (the central island was, understandably, regenerated) the file size dropped to 288mb!?!
additional to this is a severe problem of monster spawners only showing fire but no monster inside and thus no spawns (I have reported this in the relevant thread), but also something I think may be one reason for the smaller converted file - I've seen some blocks that have been changed like cobblestone turned back to stone, jack o'lanterns facing a different direction although this isn't a big problem, but a potentially big problem is that I broke a few blocks, of stuff I have built, and they didn't drop anything, making me think there's a ton of blocks in my world that are only there visually and if broken completely disappear.
1.2.6 on xbone, still not fixed. world converted 313mb out of 369mb
1.2.7 doesn't fix it, my game keeps crashing at 3%...
This issue has been mostly fixed.
The issue that your having can be found here: MCPE-25344
mostly, but not quite fixed.
I did multiple conversions on 1.2.6 and now 1.2.7 and I still have a different file size on every conversion, the highest so far being around 320mb out of 369mb. I don't know if this persists in 1.2.7 but the file size would drop after playing the game, but I have noticed in 1.2.7 that just entering and exiting the options (before loading the world) drops the file size too.
I don't know if this is even the same issue now but I haven't found a thread regarding it, and since it stems from this issue I'll post here:
1.2.8. my world converts, but the file size is still fluctuating. the highest conversion has still been 310mb out of 369mb. I have been playing in a converted file but I flew way out from the Xbox one world size and started anew in fresh wilderness. however, the file size continues to fluctuate, up and down, and even after the game and console has been switched off I've seen the file size go up or down. for all intents and purposes everything seems to work but a fluid file size indicates that is not the case.
@callum scott macdonald
The file size going up and down is normal as compression is applied at certain stages. File size does not equal a loss of data.
If the "resolution" of this issue means that y'all think that Xbox One version maps are being correctly converted into the Bedrock version, you're sadly mistaken. I had high hopes, but when I tried, yet again, to convert my existing Xbox One version Survival World, once again, it appears the conversion was not a success. Out of 11 Maps on my Map Wall, SIX of them failed...middle far north, middle far west, near SW, and all three Near East maps.

I had an issue where an ocean monument map I got from a cartographer placed the ocean monument right in the middle of a river. The achievement for that did pop, but it seems as if there is something wrong with the generation of the chunks. Note: this area was already discovered prior to converting my save to the new version. Also no new chunks would generate for me (though the latter might be a result of lag).
