I try to sync my world which is over 160mb but it crashes when it trys to convert it
this is happening on the beta release for xbox one

My save is over 100 MB but I was able to import it without any issues. (don't know the exact size but definitely over 100 MB). Might be something different than 100 MB limit FYI.
my freezes as soon as it starts converting I had a old backup of the save I converted that and it worked but it's not up to date with my lastest save
I have the same problem. My world is 199.5 MB & the game crashes completely
I can confirm this is an issue for me as well. My world side is 186.3MB.
Like Brandon Moreton, I had an older version of the save that converted OK (older save was made 1 month ago). Only difference between the two is that the older one shows as 154.1MB while the newer one is 186.3MB
Update : Found another save, from a week after my one that successfully transferred. Identical file size (154.1MB) but this failed to transfer into the Beta. The only difference between this version and the one that succeeded was the number of chests, shulkers etc.as I'd spent the week inbetween these saves building a new warehouse and gathering items for a new build etc.
With this in mind, I took my latest version of my world, made a copy and then deleted loads of items (about 40+ chests worth) and tried transferring this into the Beta. It too failed.
So I don't think file size determines whether a world doesn't transfer - it must be something else.
My world is 170ish mb and it does not transfer either.
I just synchronized a world that is 211,3mb and it was converted to 154.9 mb
Managed to convert my world that had previously been crashing by saving it in the nether in XBox One MC and then converting it.
I tried it aswell with a buddy of mine however the game crashed 3 times.
Tried to sync my 300mb world on xbox one beta and game put me in middle of nowhere although I did have correct contents of my inventory , tried to fly off and game crashed.
David. So you managed to get the world fully converted?
Nope saving in the nether did not work for me
Tried to convert my 351mb world again ( after the new update today) but no luck . After conversion, my world is shown as 35mb , and once again spawns me in middle of nowhere , then xbox crashes, again . This passed CERT? Wow. Ps. Firework for boost flying only works intermittently.
Yes this passed Cert as a beta. We can't expext it to work like a dream just yet. That's why we find these bug so they can fix it. We will be able to do this hopefully soon, until then, let's try to find a work around. We never know. At somepoint it might stick
Ok so I have tried possibly everything to get my world converted. I created a few copy saves used 1 on creative and 1 on survival I destroyed everything. Tired to save in the nether. Went to creative set spawn point far away from my world builds still nothing messed with every setting for in game and start screen settings. Still nothing. So I don't think there is a fix for this on our side
If you guys have trouble hover over your world and press Y then send the world to Microsoft.
There definitely will be a update to fix this issue
the new update did not fix the issue
@@unknown Please keep the comment section to share details on the issue. No inappropriate language.
I'll take that as a no then, but as you wish oh might lord.
I tried to see if there was a way to get a world to be converted to the Onedrive & pull that into the beta. Sadly no. Well a fix will be with us soon hopefully
As of yesterday, build 9 is out
If anyone didn't see the list of fixes, this was among it:
"Fixed some world conversion bugs"
Try now guys. Maybe our prayers has been answered
My world now converts with the recent update, without any of the hassle of going into the nether and saving my game there. So their bug fixing has benefited me I'm pleased to say. Hopefully it enables others to successfully convert their games too!
Has everyone got the update. I am on Xbox One S and still no update. My world still don't convert right.
A friend & I tried to convert our world, however it still crashed up to 3 times. So I didn't work for us.
The recent update never fixed this. My world is 16.0 MB and it still will not convert. I appreciate the copy save option but this better work on the final release.
Is this getting fixed? Can't seem to get an answer.
My friend & I tried something new. When I left the world last time I played it, alot of hoppers was transporting alot of stone.
Now we stopped the flow & alot of redstone "movement"
The convertions did go better this time but was not enough. We managed to get it up to 83% before it crashed.
When it crashed however, the screen went black & gave us a error code. We clicked "close" & the code reappeared 4 times.
After that we couldn't exit to the dashboard or snap to the friendlist. It was stuck on that black screen & we had to unpluck the Xbox completely
Getting this error code was the first time & hopefully a game changer
The error code was 0x80040200
Mojang. I hope this can help but please give us a update!

On a side note: We did manage to converted an 16MB world over but I can't see it on my computer. It says its coverted on the XBox, but the computer says otherwise. _
Do i need to find the world somewhere?
I cannot import my world.
Running v1.2.0.29.
The size of my world is 9.1mb.
Something worth noting: this world was also originally imported to the Xbox One from the Xbox 360, a long time ago (it's actually called "360 Import World").
The import process crashes reliably at 5%. Both the beta version and the old console version are stored on an external 4TB hard drive.
Moving both versions to my internal drive and attempting the import also crashed, with the difference being that it got to 9% before it happened.
I also tried moving both versions to an external SSD drive. The same crash occurred at 5% as before.
My Xbox One is a launch edition one, currently in the preview program running OS version 10.0.16287.1002.
Happy to give access to the world file itself if that's possible and/or required.
Before opening the world after converting make sure you click edit(pencil icon) and turn off cheats. It is on by default for some reason.
I still cant Convert my World. Crashes at 98%
Mine crashes at 4%. It's only 234.4MB
Fix the Redstone Torch and pistons Etc. Fix the Redstone like Pc or Ps4...
Yes! My world is about 220 MB and is not able to transfer with the latest update. It tends to crash around the 85% mark.
Just got the public release to Xbox One. World conversion fails on my world at 2%. World size is 114Mb.
3000+ bugs fixes & nothing to make the world convert. This is worrying.
Had to unpluck to entire Xbox again. Couldn't snap or dashboard!
If I was not naked right now, I would rip my shirt of
Having the Same issue here world is around 387MB have tried converting well over 20 time and have never gotten more than 160MB to convert.... I can live with the no fishing farm and the redstone changes but have 80% or so of my main base in my world replaced with new terrain just blows.
How does this get resolved?
My 250mb world converts to a 150mb world. When I load it up, the most terrain is missing (just water) then my entire Xbox locks up. Using official full release. I loaded the world fine in Xbox One Edition, tried saving in the Nether and other places without success... I should have waiting on the Realms 30 day trial!
I also have this issue with my primary world.
A couple of notes:
1 This world was originally created on Xbox 360, and migrated to Xbox One.
2 This world was expanded from a tiny 1x1 map to the largest available - 5x5.
I'm not sure what else is unique about it. I have tons of redstone, tons of items, have beat the dragon, been to the end city, etc. It's fairly large, and extensively played. Have never been in creative, etc.
Also of note, as pointed out by others - once the import fails my xbox one becomes unusable. I can't get to the home screen, everything fails. I have to hard reboot to use the xbox. Even after it comes back up, things seem unstable, but usable.
I am more than happy to provide the world to MOJANG if it will help with troubleshooting.
I have a world that is around 350MB that won't convert. Very frustrating considering the time investment that was put into it. I was hoping the official release would resolve the conversion issues, but its still happening. No way that I can find to send the file in for examination either.
This is something that was promising about the new version that is a huge let down, next to the terrible GUI.
Similarly to what Ian Batchelder and the OP posted, I am having the same crash when I try to convert my Xbox One game (select game for conversion process, syncs data, conversion process starts, usually gets no further than 0-1%, sometimes I see a sliver of a green progress bar and then the game crashes with no error messages). My world was created in much the same way as his. Started on Xbox 360, ported over to Xbox One, upgraded in size from a single map to the largest size. Have built in the Nether and The End, beaten the Wither and the End Dragon multiple times, have tons of structures and redstone in all portions of the world/Nether/End. Have reset the Nether and The End several times, have never been in Creative, and have loaded about 20 of the 25 maps in the Overworld, explored about half of the Nether, and been all over The End. My save game size is around 208mb and my console has around 784GB of free space.
I am having similar issues. My world is around 335mb normally. THe first time I converted it was 180mb, with entire maps replaced, my hostile farm no longer works at all for some reason as well. Reconverted a 2nd time and it came out to be 170mb with the same issues but different maps replaced. The last time I got through the conversion process it turned out to be 48.5mb.
Now, when I try to convert, it gets to various %'s from 30% to 80% and crashes the Xbox One. It just flat out turns itself off!
EDIT: Got through conversion process with the world size ending up being 178.5mb. Loaded world, turned around once, and crash to black screen. Can't get to Home screen. Had to hard reset again.
I can still play my XB1 Edition with no issues but I desperately want to be using keyboard and mouse, and let my wife and daughter play on my world via their computers without taking up part of my tv screen. π
I'll keep up with this issue before I finally pay for Realms.
EDIT 2: I have been toying with the conversion to see if there is any consistency to what is going on. The main thing I've noticed that is the same every single time is that the back side of my base is replaced by the same exact map every time. It cuts off at the same point, same hill to the right and the same exact Village as well.. I've tested this several times so there is definitely some sort of consistency to what is going on. Just need to lock down the cause.

I saw this & wondered if it's possible to use the phone edition as a bridge?
From Xbox --> Phone --> Computer WITHOUT using that worthless convertion feature that clearly is less effective then North Korea
On another note. Since realms came out for the Xbox One, then I tried something else with a buddy of mine.
Instead of converting, we would just make our world a realm on the Xbox itself & we could enjoy it without converting while I'm on computer & him on Xbox
Well no... My friend was on my Xbox account ready to connect our world to the realm I got on computer. He tried to connect them, but he couldn't.
The world HAS to be converted before any realms can be added. What the hell is the point of that?
Mojang! Please provide some answers here! It's not nice to leave people in the dark!
Was able to convert my Xbox One world, 285mb, 2 times but half my town was replaced my new land. After this I haven't been able to convert my world, it reached 80 to 90 % and then the game crashes making me have to hard reset my console. Spent over 500hours in this world, no way I'm starting over, please fix this.
Will be trying to transfer again tonight. Did not attempt yesterday so not sure if anything has changed. I spent well over 5 hours copying, converting, syncing, hard resetting, re-saving...nothing worked. The conversion process would finish, but the world had chunks of terrain where my builds should be. I had an amazing Aladdin castle completely replaced with ocean. My casino was cut right in half. When I would fly using fireworks, the game would crash instantly. This happened at least 10 times. I really hope this is fixed for the weekend.
Sidenote, really not a fan of the interface (GUI). The xbox one had a nice simplified menu so it will definitely take some getting used to. Especially when it comes to doing deals with Villagers and such. Haven't got a chance to craft anything from a crafting table yet. Not having the ability to turn off auto save makes this "Better Together" update a little less together since I wont want ANYBODY on my world. The game seems to be a griefers paradise now.
I'v had this happen as well, with all of my worlds that i try to transfer. Even my medium and small size worlds. Which is A+ fantastic. Makes me wonder why its not still called a beta.
Also..
+justin baker I agree with EVERYTHING you just said. Not having a disable auto save feature is a very bad decision, the main reason to never play with auto save on is because of the bugs. for instance when you load up your world and it gens new terrain over all you things, you could just exit without saving. Apply this to all the game breaking bugs and everyone would have a much better time playing PE on console.
I have the same issue, game crashes when attempting to convert worlds. Fix asap.
Same issue, 289meg world. Converts but when opened the large section of my map where my builds are is completely replaced. I can see a path i built in the game further away which used to connect up to my builds. There is a definate cut line on this path that is not even a smooth transition. Just a solid cut that goes on for some time. Like most have put in a lot of time with this with my sons and will not be restarting a new world. Pleas fix. Happy to provide screenshots or save files if needed.
Further to this the cut/replace line appears directly between a 0 and 255 co-ordinate. Someone's math is out somwhere......
Guys. This convertion from Xbox to Windows 10 is not yet supported. The deadline for this game should be around October 3rd.

Daniel Bohn Johnson - this importing games from the xbox one console edition to the Bedrock edition on the Xbox one. It is supposed to be supported, and in-fact fully functional on many worlds. None of us, to the best of my knowledge, are trying to pull console edition games to a windows 10 standalone computer. So although things are unified, and xbox one is technically windows 10, I'm pretty sure this should be working, hence the existence of the functionality.
@Daniel Bohn Johansen
As Ian commented, importing from Xbox to Windows 10 is not the issue. Converting worlds from the Xbox One Edition to Minecraft (also on Xbox One, better known as Better Together, or MCPE or Bedrock) is the problem. I reckon the conversion feature will be fixed with the update that is currently waiting on certification and expected to be out towards the end of this week (or should be fixed, lest we see massive community uproar).
If the conversion was not intended to work right away, the new version should not have been released until that was added as a feature. If you have any source of information that states the Xbox One Edition conversion to Minecraft Bedrock was not actually intended to be functional until a later date and not at launch, I'd love to read it (not being sarcastic).
Same issue, 147mb world, "syncing" will go up to 71% and then it will stop and say that it couldn't sync now etc...
It's interesting that it always stops at 71%, even after i reinstalled the game and tried again.
The message that shows is:
We couldn't sync your data with the cloud just now
Guest
Try syncing again or use this game or app offline. (0)
If I choose try again, it shows the same message and if I choose use offline it shows a message that says:
World Conversion Failed
Oops, something went wrong etc...
I too have a problem porting an old world. I tried to port two worlds- one survival game I barely played in, and one massive created map that I had built with my children.
The smaller map as near as I can tell ported smoothly and perfectly.
The larger map ported.... badly. A structure I used to mark the exact center of the world was only a quarter present, and the nearby lands no longer smoothly fit, with obvious seams all over that were never present in the original file. I also noticed that it had shaved a large amount of data off the file size in the process, going from 263.1 MB to 138.7 MB.
Upon using some notes, I went to the area with the most modifications and found that while the surroundings were no longer as they had been, this area was mostly intact. However, traveling to a distant settlement (Though not in a different map zone in the original file) revealed gaping abysses that when dropped through caused the game to crash to black screen so hard that I had to manually reset the console by holding down the power button.
This happened several times in similar fashion.
Other interesting changes of note-
The conversion process only seems interested in the starting overworld. Attempting to return to the Underworld in the ported version of the map caused it to generate an entirely new underworld, wiping out the interlinked pathways we had built to quickly link different regions.
Also, this newly generated underworld was glitchy. It had similar endless abysses and inexplicable holes in the game- though the one pass through the region I did did not cause a hard crash.
Once I exited the underworld through the gate I had come in by, the game had spawned a new exit that intersected a minecart/train station roof instead of the high tower entrance I had used.
The actions that had been taken in the world were... typical. We had explored to the edges of the worldspace and had been meticulously mapping them, as well as just building whatever suited our fancy.
The converter scrambled the already generated landscape, lining up large sectors of map space haphazardly. The square pathway pointing in the four cardinal directions in the original file I could only locate a quarter of.
Speaking as not a coder, I sort of thought that the file would only need some headers changed to be used in Bedrock. Any ideas on whether or not the bug fixes will allow proper porting of large files? And will this update also search the underworld and the End maps?
Nothing like seen 3120 hours of build be wiped out in 5 min
If I got 2nd part timejob would pocket that $46,800.00 for 3120 hours for the time I spent building
How many hours did you lose?
@rob. Does the XBox One version no longer work for you? The "Better Together" version is unusable for me because it won't convert the games (the business of not being able to deactivate autosave would also be a dealbreaker, but I just haven't got that far). I too have been playing for some years, and the game without my game in it is like an empty shop; completely useless. However, I found my copy of the XBox One version (and it's saved games) is still there and can still be played independently. So, until they get their act together and do some serious quality control and bug-fixing on what seems to be an even shoddier version of Minecraft, that's where I'll stay.
If I was the Microsoft Manager trying to promote this "Better Together" thing, I'd be spitting tacks right now. It's been turned in unfinished. Smells like the product of an Agile shop.
Stephen
Importing from Xbox to Windows 10 is not the issue. Converting worlds from the Xbox One Edition to Minecraft (also on Xbox One, better known as Better Together, or MCPE or Bedrock) is the problem
Yes this is in fact a issue Stephen. What you talking about "Minecraft" Ya know Bedrock, is Xbox, phone, tablets, Computer version pilled together as one fully version. One game. So yes. The fact I still can't, as others, convert the world I have with my friends, is sure as hell a issue.
I've had this issue with world-conversion crashes too, but it's not been as consistent in my case as it has been in some of y'alls... I've had to deal with MCPE-25354 much more consistently, and by the way, S, the bug you reference is MCPE-25354, not this one.
Yeah, mine crashes when attempting to convert too. 4 1/2 years of work that I would love to bring over. Hits anywhere between 70 and 90 percent and then crashes my game and sometimes my entire console.
I can't tell if you're serious or not.
Daniel- The full game has already been released. Where have you been?
1.2.1 came out and I thought based on the patch notes that this issue would have been resolved. Unfortunately the same problem exists. I converted less than an hour ago and the world size converted from 334.5mb to 160mb. I was like "Okay maybe there is a difference in how it saves, lets just load it up and see."
Loaded up the world, crashed within 15 seconds. Had to hard reset the xbox one s, and now I'm back in the game and the converted world is no longer in the list at all.
This issue needs to be fixed asap as it is the main problem Mojang is facing in converting people over to the new version.
I've try to convert my 290 mo world (originaly from the 360 then to One, and now to BT); and after the "conversion", it's like if i had do nothing for 4 years (except 2 or 3 buildings, some cut in half, or some road section in the middle of nowhere). New lands were generate where my constructions was the most concentrate.
I am having this exact same issue. My world was 3 years in the making, but still only 160, but still the first time I was successful in transferring the world, half of the world had vanished. More areas had changed biomes, & everything that was once in the area was erased. The new biome did not seem least match the other biomes around it. It just looks stupid now.
I've tried several times to delet the world's, delete the game, re instal it all and try again. But now the entire game crashes if I try to transfer ANYTHING.
This better together thing is terrible. I'm deleting everything of minecraft from Xbox. I won't be playing it ever again. I won't spend a single dollar more. Ruined. Lost a loyal player.
Same, years of hard work and can't even convert it to the official version....
If my world is dead then so is Minecraft for me.
I wonder if this shouldn't be split into two problems.
World will not convert at all
World will convert, but is badly damaged on completion.
Also, everyone here should know that you can still play on Console Edition, and just wait it out. You didn't upgrade and replace minecraft XBox One edition, you just installed a second version. Once it's fixed, consider trying the unified Minecraft. Take the drama down a "notch".
Ian,
The drama you speak of is warranted, as the realms has been teased for years for the console edition and then once it is available you can't convert your old worlds to realms. This is a huge embarrassment to mojang and microsoft for peddling an incomplete and buggy mess. It has hurt their reputation and quite frankly may have turned off some of the more loyal users.
That may be the case, but some are acting as though everything was fully replaced by a broken product. That simply isn't the case. If they had forced an upgrade, or the conversion process also ruined worlds on the console version, then there would be cause for major drama. As it stands, it's unfortunate, probably shouldn't be out of beta, but nothing is actually lost, as some seem to think.
@Ian completely agreed, this should probably be split to 2 topics. Also, yeah the drama is a bit much. I understand people are upset (including myself) because we want this new release of the game to work soooo bad. However, they aren't keeping us from playing the same game we built our worlds in and it seems like that fact is being forgotten. The worlds are still there in the previous version, unchanged.
still affected in version 1.2.1.
I'll give you Drama, I have 3 sons expecting me to troubleshoot this issue. LOL!
Anyway keep at in Mojang we still love ya!
@Koolen Glenn
Hahaha! My daughter started balling after seeing the state of our virtual home. Luckily I knew beforehand the original world file would be unchanged so I laughed and assured her it is in-tact (then showed her). She too fully expected me to be able to troubleshoot my way around it and try I did... to no avail. We'll have our fun soon enough π
I have this same issue. My Xbox One Edition world, large size, is roughly 285MB. I'm assuming it's due to the fact that I have explored 22/25 maps. But, I've only really built within the center 9x9 area. Nothing too extreme really. Began on the 360, in 2014. Transferred world to XB1 in 2015, expanded it. And now here we are. Every time I attempt conversion, this is even after the recent 1.2.1 update, it gets to about 84% complete and crashes. It renders my console to a virtually useless state, until I reset it. Every single time. I'm wondering at what point in the process is the crash happening..is it the conversion of chests, redstone, and all aesthetic blocks? Or is it the memorization of the player's inventory, tamed animals, and other entities? What a mystery it is! Even tried a "classic sized map" I think it was only 19MB, very small. Failed and crashed at roughly 64%. It's a bummer that I might have to start fresh, but I understand this is probably a very difficult fix. Transfer from 360 to the One was easy enough, they were essentially the exact same game to their core. But this "Better Together" version was started from scratch I've heard, so even though it's the same game..it's not? I must research more! Keep at it, Mojang team. You got this!
Really unfortunate bug this is, I've got 3 worlds I'd like to convert, 2 played one's and a flat world of only 3.6mb, neither of them work.
Even tried to create a new one, not flat, 4mb only. No conversion either.
Tried to create a new, got an elytra with mending even, but ragequit due to an instant death with mid flight and chorus fruits. Must file a report on that too.
Will wait for world conversion fix to convert and explore the infinitely expanding new version.
This is a really annoying issue/bug... Every time I access a sign I cant exit it or leave it
PLS fix this bug Mojang
My world of over 360mb, which is large won't convert properly either.
This issue keeps hanging my XBOX One. I don't even know what a converted world behaves like.
My world save is ~260 Mb.
I have to do a hard reset each time. I have reset and kept my files on the xbox. There has been an error message that keeps popping up on the xbox before I am forced to preform a hard reset "xbox one has encountered an error... 0x80040200"
It should be added that this event happens ~80% world conversion.
If I leave the xbox alone to convert the world it will sometimes crash out and I will come back to the home page.
Just tried again on the latest 1.2.2 update and it crashed again around 80% conversion. World is ~170MB
All I want for Christmas is my world to convert 100%
If that's too soon please fix it be for I die of old age lol
Mine still wont convert either, starting to suck big time.
My World is 360mb and when its converted i was 174mb and my whole house was replaced with Water and the glass dome where i had my animals was ripped in half ;(
Like Todd above, I have also attempted conversion again. Same issue persists. Still holding out hope. But that's the beauty of this game. It's highly unforgiving when things go wrong (For instance, getting pummeled by ghast fire, and then falling through the ground into a sea of lava with all your best gear while auto save is on, rookie mistake I know.), yet influences you to start fresh over and over. So you get to re-live those new beginnings. Refreshing for some, an annoyance to others. Back to the subject at hand. As previously stated in another comment of mine, my world is roughly 280MB. I also tested a 9.4MB creative "classic" sized map. The large file crashed exactly as before. Hit somewhere within 80-90%, crashed, forced me to hard reset the console (XB1). The smaller file quickly reached within 40%, crashed the game too, but managed to not freeze the console, and safely returned to the home page. Still perplexed as to what exactly is going on at 80-90%. The beginning stages (0-50% if its large, 0-20% if small) seem to go by rather quickly at times, but once halfway through, i notice a slow down. Shortly after, once (80-90% for Large, 35-40% for Small) hits, it's "game over". I also have come to understand that some players have managed to convert their worlds, only to have their builds destroyed, or cut in half. Landscapes marred with new generation, etc. This worries me, as this has been a battle upon release. How fun would that be after all these attempts? Still, it's giving me time to figure out the mechanics, how this version acts compared to the old, etc, etc. So, uh...thanks? :]
Always the same problem with conversion...
My ~230MB world completed conversion, but looks nothing like the world did previously. None of my builds are in there and the landscape is completely different. The resulting file is smaller at ~140MB.
UPDATE - I converted again and it worked a little better, but none of my redstone projects work anymore and the nether is a mess. My first trip to the nether resulted in what appeared to me being stuck above the nether. I exited and reloaded and I fell down in to the normal nether, but it wasn't where I was supposed to spawn and there was netherrack all throughout the areas I had previously built.
I traveled to an area in the overworld where I had quite a sorting machine that seemed to be running when I arrived (based on the clicks I could hear) and upon trying to open a door with a lever, it crashed.
I like the idea of better together, but it seems to break a lot of my stuff that I have spent literally a few years building.
Latest update 1.2.2, and still no luck to convert my 3 year old Xbox1 world to Bedrock... I wonder why this ticket is staying in 'Open' status still...
Mine does the same thing, 303MB and two years of work down the drain. I have a fully working gregorian calendar with segmented "LCD" display which took months to build, man am I peeved.
Conversion of a 119MB world fails like everyone else.

Always and again problems to convert old worlds coming from minecraft xbox one edition ...
Big worlds exceeding 400mo = Crash to 3-4% of conversion. (The game closes)
Unfortunately having the same issue.. my save is 83.2mb and it will convert 80 to 90 percent then crash.
Weeks of waiting and still no work seems to have been done to resolve the problem. And now changes to the Legacy version file are not being synced over to the new version. Starting to lose faith and patience. 4 years of work cannot be simply, "remade."
If you are having issues syncing, you can go to save options in the console edition and copy your save. Rename it something else, and I would imagine it will send a new copy to the Bedrock edition. I'm not at home, but it seams plausible. I make periodic backups of my main world in this manner, since I let my five year old play in it and she tends to trash it somewhat. I think I see all of those in the migration dialogue.
World sent. Receipt: 2017/10/15/7:31:14-ce060860--3e0f-6997-030a-7a12d95585d3
I cannot convert my world, either. Usually crashes Minecraft at 3%. Made it to 86% once, and it froze the console after crashing Minecraft. I have Beta, but when I highlight the world and press Y to upload it as instructed above, nothing happens.
Uploaded my pre-conversion Old World: 2017/10/16/04:40:58-fd601801-125a-474-8-c994-b44654e79597 which reports 283.9MB before conversion. World fully converts without reporting any issues and shows as about 150MB after conversion. This time (maybe due to where I was located when I saved and quit before conversion) I was able to load the world and move around for a bit. New chucks appear to have replaced what used to exist. Original spawn location and all user built buildings are now an ocean. Obvious signs of mismatched chunks like in posted screen shots. This time, Xbox locked up and shutdown when I tried to Save and Quit. Running Minecraft on Xbox One, version: beta 1.2.3.3 Gui4
Just uploaded my 300Β± mb world that won't convert.
[media]
Al, the new chunks generating in your world is a manifestation of MCPE-25354, but the crash you refer to is something else...
This problems seems to be persisting despite the recent update to V1.2.3... but when I go to the world that I'm trying to convert and has stuff missing/cut in half and crashing my Xbox, when I press Y on that world... nothing happens. No dialog box appears! The world in question is 273.3MB, has only converted around 180MB. Yesterday, after updating Minecraft to the current version, I tried to convert this world again and thought it was successful until I returned to my spawn point and found that there's nothing at my spawn point but water... and a sliced-up part of what was my spawn point/home base - still.
Is there a different way to upload this world for analysis and to get a receipt with this version?
I can't convert my Xbox one world on the new minecraft version, the game crash at 4%
287mb world, have tried converting every week since beta release- crashes at 17%
Oh c'mon! Not fair! π
[media]loads all the way to 99% then crashes, its a 132 mb world. Don't see an option to press y to get more info on it. Got it to transfer once, generated new stuff over everything. Since then crashed at like 30%. This is the closest i have gotten, i just want to make a public realm dammit!
crashes between 19 and 22%. World size is around 295mb. Says was fixed, but obviously still have conversion issues.
I have the same problem and have tried every update since the beta. World created on Xbox 360 converted to xbox one and attempting to sync to the latest version causes a crash to home screen at 8%. File size is 342MB but even the smaller size map from the original Xbox 360 import crashes. I'm on v1.2.5.12 in the beta program.
After a few hours of troubleshooting I was able to sync my world. I started off my importing my Xbox 360 save file again to xbox one and tried syncing that to the bedrock version only to have the same crash. The file size was only 12MB and was only a classic map size.
The next thing I did was go into my Xbox one save with the goal reducing the number of chests. FIRST I MADE A COPY OF MY SAVE. Any area with a lot of entities such as villagers or animals I broke all the bulk storage areas, any items that couldn't be easily farmed I moved to shulker boxes and took them to an empty part of the world. In my other storage areas I got rid of junk and condensed the chests down, filling all the shulker boxes I could. I still had over 100 double chests and 100 shulker boxes completely filled.
I also took down all the item frames and destroyed the chest of potions I had, who knows if that helped. That's as far as I got before trying to sync again and having it finally get past 8% and fully sync. And just a heads up I'm still dealing with terrible frame rates on bedrock.
This is happening on iOS as well
The same issue I am having with my creative server I convert it and it gets to 83% and it crashes I did a hard reset it didnt help then I tried to copy the save and convert it still crashed however I was able to convert a older smaller one less than 100mb (my world is 183mb ) I am able to play that one but I had lots of massive statues and beacons placed in that world that don't exist on the smaller version of my world I just hope they mojang fixes this bug in the following updates
I have the same issue when converting map about 160MB in size. It doesn't make it past 0% and the entire game crashes.
Apologies for not supplying the receipt #, did see the notice on this ticket until after I uploaded my world.
In the latest beta 1.2.5.15, the world gets past the 99% crash I had experienced previously... finishes the upload, but then crashes on a dialog-less screen and takes me back to the Xbox One home page. It's progress, but still not there. π
I think Michael is onto something with the chests. I have a redstone storage system that has about 80 double chests, all of which are full in every slot. On a whim, I copied the save in the console edition, renamed it for destruction, and loaded it up with TNT. Upon triggering the TNT, the game immediately crashed. I'm going to try destroy them a bit slower and see if the game can handle it, then try an import.
A couple of months ago I accidently deleted my save data on the bedrock edition( Thinking that it would fix this problem) They could have told everyone that your Minecraft Xbox one edition save data is linked to the bedrock edition. So now all of my saves are deleted forever. Thanks Mojang. I've had fun but I'm done with this game. Maybe I'll play it in a year or two.
I deleted my bedrock saves on Xbox and lost my Xbox one edition saves too. Luckily I hadn't done much building since the 360 days and just imported my old save from there. Deleted them because of the crashes during syncing.
Downloaded the 1.2.6.2 version and still fails at 5%. Even tried with the new Xbox One X console, the most powerful console it still crashes. This has been an issue for months now and they can't even work on this? It's ridiculous to have a bug for this long on a huge game like this, I would expect this from an indie game not this.
Unfortunately it's not an issue that is easily reproducible, and there may be something that is causing a particular issue in certain worlds. Generally speaking they are converting and syncing properly.
It might be worth noting that some players have found that removing chests of enchanted books has helped with the sync/conversion issue (see comment here)
I was having this issue... but I went back to the beta (after updating it) and tried to convert my large world. It completed but in the past, it always said the conversion was successful but entering the world showed stuff missing, etc. This time, though, the world did convert even though the file sizes didn't match (but they weren't off by very much in terms of bytes) and the world was intact.
But it tends to crash since conversion and by this I mean not only does the game crash, but it crashes the Xbox One console - just shuts it off as if a fatal error has occurred. If the console is logging errors, I don't know how to access any logs to find error codes...
For everyone still having this issue try this as it recently worked for me thanks to Mega_Spud.
Make a copy of your world that will not convert.
Go into your world and remove all enchanted items (tools, books & potions)
Try and convert. This is where the issue was for my world. It sucks having to remove these items. I am going to try and move these items around the map to spread it out. Maybe that will work.
Let me know if this works for anyone.
Great! Sounds like we have kinda narrowed it down to storage (large amounts of chests or items) and enchanted things (books, tools etc). That should give them a pretty good idea of where to start looking into the transfer crashes. Sadly though, from what i have heard directly from helen, is that this issue isn't not a front burner issue. Meaning, its got low priority to them at the moment π You would think that they would want this fixed ASAP, as it would bring more players over to BT, meaning possibly more DLC and "minecraft coins" (or whatever they are called) sales. Also this is just kind of a major deal, to all the actual dedicated minecrafters from the Xbox One edition.
I didn't have to destroy the enchanted items to get mine to work so try a process of elimination. Ducks that you have to do it and in my opinion stay away from the new version anyway unless you want your console to catch on fire. Game just shuts down the console and cause lots of other issues. The game also freezes if I try to use rockets to travel.
There has to be more to it then just magical equipment and potions. I went through my world and got rid of every potion, and all equipment that was enchanted and it still fails at about 19 to 20% through the conversion process.
I really wish they would fix this, as the world did convert in the beta, however it didn't convert a lot of stuff correctly such as witch huts, and since the official release I've been trying to convert my worlds with no luck. I might even start over but my world is has quad witch huts, that are all close enough to be active at the same time. Its highly unlikely that I would ever find such a seed within bedrock version.
My world just converted! I duplicated the save, named it "destruction", and proceeded to explode my map room, which also has 10 double-chests of enchanted books, my redstone storage system, which has about 100 double chests total, and another handful of double-chests of enchanted books. Much to my surprise, after about an hour, the game imported successfully. All of my structures are intact, save the massive holes caused by the TNT. Oh, I also reset the nether, and the end.
I think this issue might have something to do with maps. I've had a map bug for a while, and have a full 5x5 map wall. I'm going to try another tests with all maps in my world discarded.
Oh, and one more thing. Most of the water is green now - with little sections of normal blue water.
EDIT - just to be clear, I do not view this as a happy, successful conversion π
I certainly think this is something to do with the concentration of items. I still work on my world in XBox One edition of MC (due to bugs in BT) and occasionally run into difficulties converting it across (MC crashes at 0%).
Yesterday I made a copy of my save, then deleted a load of items from my warehouse AND all my maps (due to someone else commenting maps might be the cause). After this my world converted, albeit it took over an hour to do so on my XBox One X.
I intend now to open up my original save, make another copy and MOVE the items I deleted originally to a location far away from my warehouse. This will probably take me a few days, but I will report back if moving the items (rather than deleting) successfully enables me to convert my world.
EDIT : Successfully converted my world by simply moving about 20 Shulkers of materials from my warehouse. Therefore with my conversion problem its concentration of items that triggers the conversion failures.
I can't agree with this solution completely.
An friend went into our world on Xbox One & deleted around 200.000 blocks. Stone, dirt, sand & much more. Of course, copied world,
Now it still didn't work but my friend noticed that the memory for his console dropped before it hit 100% (crashes at 99%)
All of this sounds like a memory leak & it just so happens the effects of a memory leak are very, very similar to what we see.
On a side note, Microsoft requested me to say that they want everyone who has this problem to post on their forums so they can make this issue VIP & push Mojang to fix their garbage
""Basically, when a program needs to use something, it'll put it in your memory. When it doesn't need it anymore, it'll send the signal to get rid of it since it's no longer using that particular piece of information. A memory leak happens when there's a bug in the code that forgets to send that signal, so every time it needs that piece of info, it'll keep calling it back up, but the old pieces will never leave, so it will continue to use tons of memory (RAM) over time to the point of making whatever game or application you're using unusable.
This is just a result of a coding error, and is usually (hopefully) fixed by patches to the game. There is no permanent damage, and all you have to do to get rid of a memory leak is to end the program that's causing it. So if you get a game with a memory leak, you'll notice it'll get slower and choppier and might eventually even freeze and crash on you. This is because after using up so much memory, the rest of the game has no memory to use to function properly, since it's all taken up by garbage."""

Still crashes while trying to convert
I didn't really expect it too work either so...
so you are having trouble converting your old minecraft xbox one edition save to the new better together version of minecraft. and your world save is large sized and you made it convert by moving items from central locations and by removing your map wall is this correct. please respond.
Yes & no
My friends & I can't convert from Minecraft Xbox One edtion too the better together version of Minecraft. This map was created on the Xbox 360 around 6 years ago, or right before the jungle wood update
Our survival world is 199.5 MB & it has been made larger
Deleting around 200.000 blocks of sand - stone - chestes & their inventory. Ya know most of what is just laying around waiting to be sorted
Deleting or pauseing restone funtions
Removing our map wall
Despite this effort the world still crashes when trying to convert it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viv6gOITSVg&t=4s
This is what is happening. Skip until the 97% mark & watch the rest to the complete end (pass the black screen)
Spent 2 hours waiting to convert, at 12% it kicks to Xbox home. The amount of items in storage we can't delete or move as it's for finishing our castle build.
We keep getting told 1.2.6 would fix this issue. Even spoke to guys in chat yesterday on stream for Minecraft developers. It's not being resolved and only game we want to play but can't do to this issue.
What other work around are there? Anything besides deleting items in our Map?
I still have the same problem ... 3 months that the game is out and I always freeze at 3/4% or 99% ...
It's also an old world from the xbox 360.
My receipt number is as follows
2017/11/22/00:13:25-13369476-1281-d68-d-0150-77699d616064
Please Help!
Just so everyone knows. I have been told by a dev, that they are hopeing & think that 1.2.7 will fix these convertion issues. They are working on them. So that's good news that we are not forgotten. let's pray for the next update to be the one we have been waiting for
Thet are also hopeing the update will be in cert within this week & be released ASAP. Stay hopefull peeps
I downloaded the update 1.2.7 and my world still didn't convert. It went a lot faster but still didn't pass 89% and than crashed.
same for my xbox world but it hit 83% then still crashed it may take a while for the update to take affect so maybe try converting them in the next few hours or a day or two one of the past updates actually were the same were the game updated but it took a few days to get affected so it will take affect remember that the update is new
No difference from any of the other updates. Minecraft still crashes before it gets to 1% conversion. I guess I'm waiting on the 1.2.8 update just to be disappointed again.
the world conversion for my world goes much faster now, but has the same end result of a crash. Is their anything I can do to fix this on my end? Also I submitted a receipt number months ago I'm afraid once it does work it will convert the world I had months ago and won't acknowledge progress, is this correct and is their a place I can put the receipt number other than this site that it will get looked at sooner? Lastly will the next update continue to address this issue?
My world is 330 mb and I play on a Xbox one. Even after the update thatβs suppose to fix the conversion problem came out it still crashes at 7 to 19%
Still happens to my 200mb world. Gets to about 97% and then crashes. Almost there mojang, but not quite yet.
Can't believe it's been almost 3 months and it's still not fixed. This is absolutely ridiculous, all these comments show that it's not a minor issue. I've been working on my world for five years and I'm sick of waiting just to even PLAY.
Please be sure to vote on the issue so it gets more attention. I agree that this is not minor. I too have a map I have been playing for years and am at a standstill until this bug is fixed.
On Twitter, a person says to me that they are still working on this problem... me too I'm like Colin Downer, it's long to wait but I say to me that they do the best to fix it as fast as they can... the last update shows us that they are next to resolve it! patience... (sorry if there are some mistake, I'm French)
I can relate with angecalo. I have been in contact with a dev on discord & they are actively fighting it. When it didn't work for 1.2.7, I went to her & she sent the information further. I could see 1.2.8 be the one with the improvement they made with 1.2.7
Vote this bug up
no 1.2.8... the next maybe... (finger crossed)
1.2.8 did not fix the issue. I doubt 1.2.9 will either. My world is 370.4 MB in size and in creative mode. Host option are active and it is a large sized map. The sync process goes faster and smoother after the 1.2.7 update. It still completes the sync process at 99% before moving on to trying to convert. How can it try to convert when it doesnt even hit 100% synced? Still crashes the whole game before it gets to 1%. Such a drag.
UPDATE: I tried going back onto the 360 and starting a new world with the same seed. Transferred to Xbox 1 fine but crashed the BTU when I tried to convert it. There is nothing on the world. Maybe the issue is with the seeds themselves?
I can only get to 64% on a 120 MB world before it crashes me back to home. Tried deleting all maps, someone said that might help, still no go.
@Joseph D Booth Can you supply that xbox 360 seed? So the team can have a look at that? (and try to reproduce it in the exact same manner)
My world was also started on the Xbox 360. Just before the jungle wood update. I think you found something here Joesph π
@Killerbeanl I will get that to you shortly as I'm at work right now.
@Daniel Bohn Johansen I started my world on Xbox 360 during the 1.7.3 (Title Update 3) update (before creative mode). The jungle update wasn't relaxed until (Title Update 12) which was released about a year after Title Update 3.
Yes same here. World won't convert. It was started on 360 well before the jungle biome update.
Here you go Killerbeenl, the seed is 5046388949650554192. Before I got on here to give the seed I tried one other thing. I flew back to the spawn point of the new save on the 360, converted it to the one and this time it converted sucessfully to the BTU. However, it did change the seed while converting. It gave the world a new seed of 1180745040. Also, between creating the world back in Title Update 3 on 360 and now i have expanded the world size twice. The first time was after porting it to the Xbox One and going from Classic Size to Medium. I pushed it up to a Large map to try and convert over to the BTU and I stumbled on a Glitch /Bug in my world. One of the maps in the large portion wont load, the chunks load as I fly above them but the map in my hand always loads the center map. Has anyone else had this particular issue or is it just a bug in MY save? Maybe thats the reason it wont convert and I'm crying about something that is not patchable because its a bug in the Xbox One Edition and not the BTU. I uploaded three pictures to the thread for visual reference. Picture titled Joseph 1 is where the map that won't load is located in the world. Joseph 2 is the map that spawns in my hand when im down in the "unknown area." Joseph 3 is simply my receipt number so you can go and grab the world.
i ran a couple experiments with a xbox one world. first thing i did was transfer it, worked fine. next thing was i got about 3 double chests full of shulker boxes full of stuff. it failed that time. after that i split up the shulker boxes into just a single chest worth of them, moving them about 300 or so blocks away from each other. then i moved to an area where none of the groups were loaded. after that it did transfer properly.
Hopefully this helps a bit, seems like they are going to have to do a lot of work to transfer all these different worlds from old eras of the game and past updates. :/
It wasn't the time I was think was the cache, but the platfrom itself I was talking about
I don't think the platform itself is the problem here. It's in the coding somewhere. My reasoning is simply put as any of my saves from before the general time period that the Xbox One version was released fail to convert over. Both of the saves that I started today on 360 converted over. Another world I found on a flash drive which I made a couple month ago on 360 which was 182.7 MB and converted fine. I didnt have to destroy map walls, redstone creations, chests or any of the other suggestions listed above.
my world is from Xbox 360 too! π
@Joseph D Booth The change of seed is normal as console edition uses a 64 bit integer and the bedrock version a 32 bit. Both seeds in your case are 4660 BD50 Hex (32-bit). The other 32 bits get neglected due to this difference.
https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Seed_(level_generation)#Technical
(for the real raw value you'll need to add 8000 0000 hex if the seed is positive, but i don't want to over complicate)
@Killerbeenl I forgot about that thanks. However using pictures Joseph 1 and Joseph 2, can you tell me if the map issue in my world is a bug? I am starting to think THAT is the reason my world won't convert, because of glitched out chunks. I tried looking on here and I couldnt find a thread for it. Is that even worth posting a bug?
Again? Well freedom of speech is not allowed here. If, whoever, doesn't like your comment/answer, then it is removed.
Let's try this again, Happy new year everyone!
For informtion regarding the bug. A buddy of mine tried to convert on the Xbox One X. It crashed on 88% despite having better performance.
He did manage to convert another world at 180 MB just fine. So that's good. The server that continue to crash is at 199.6 MB
For users still having this issue - several conversion issues have bee fixed already. So for any ongoing issues we will need to narrow down what might be causing the bug. We will of course continue to test the world conversions ourselves, but if you have any more information about specific triggers, it would be appreciated.
Not sure if this helps or not... I have a world that I haven't been able to convert since the beginning. After reading this thread, I decided to experiment. I had 5 shulker boxes in my ender chest. I took them out and emptied the contents into regular chests. Everything stayed in the same chunk, didn't get rid of any contents, didn't get rid of the shulker boxes, I just emptied them and put them on the ground. It converted just fine the first try.
Apart from my world is from Xbox 360, I don't have any idea of something else which could be a problem... :-/
Maybe if someone has some ideas that I probably have in my world... π
(I have also a problem with sync my ''old world's last time played'', I must to do some manipulation to have the really ''old world's last time played''; but it's probably another bug...)
I've been trying to convert my world since September. I will say that this is a little ridiculous that this problem has been going on this long. I don't know what is triggering it to fail everytime. What I can tell you is that its from day one of the 360 version and the file size is 305.9MB. When I try to convert, it gets to 7% then crashes everytime. I have also sent my world to you guys. So at this point I'm out of options on what to do. If you guys aren't able to figure out what the solution is for these type of conversation issues then maybe try to get 4J involved to try and see if they may have any insight on this issue.
I'm in your case @Kyle Brunk (map from 360; try to convert since august for me and fail at 3%; sent my world 3 or 4 times). So I returned on Xbox One Edition to continue my map and wait for a bug fix... π
For everyone watching this issue, don't get your hopes up. 1.2.9 did not fix the issue. Syncs the old world a lot faster but still crashes when trying to convert. No change there still crashes before it gets to 1%.
@Mega Spud. I've already given you guys every little bit of info I can regarding this issue. From seed creation date, size all the way to the Minecraft patch number I was running when I made the seed as well as the amount of time I've converted the world to pc and back to 360 to make quick edits. What more info could you possibly need?
The new update did not fix the world converting problem mine still crashes at 3% please make another bug fix ASAP I wanna bring my world on the new version before the update aquatic
I "Successfully" Transferred my world yesterday. This was the FIRST time since the new version came out that I've gotten it to transfer. It's a 5 year old survival map packed with chests and shulker boxes. There are a bunch of problems though. We made a copy and went into creative, then got rid of EVERY single chest, shulker box, and any villagers. Everyone that played emptied their End Chest too. Basically we attempted to purge the map of any items inside chests. It worked. None of us wanted to try to get all our stuff back though. Hopefully this information helps. We definitely missed a few chests but we think there's some kind of soft limit to how much stuff a world can have for it to be transferable, and ours definitely is way over the limit. I'd much rather prefer waiting 2-3 more months than ruining half of our world. Hopefully they are still working on this! My friends and I are trying specific things like removing enchanted books to removing only shulker boxes.
Iβve been trying to convert since the change to bedrock, mine usually crashes at 93%. One time early in the bedrock release it converted, however the chucks where my item sorter/ bulk storage area failed to convert and in its place was ocean chunks. At the time I had my only shulker box in my inventory. Since then I have tried after every update and it hasnβt made it past 93%
The 1.2.10.1 beta failed to fix the problem developers...
Please make sure you vote on this issue to bring more attention to it.
yeah, pretty depressing. My friends really want to play on our map on a realm. . . Gee, I'd like. . . pay money to have a realm every month. Only if I could transfer my map π((
I am having the same issue, except my world, (301.7 mb) fails at 4%.
@Cobb, try deleting all items you know of on the map. Just as an experiment. Reply your results. This worked for me. I believe there is a soft limit on the number of items or shulker boxes. I don't play on the new version though. I'm going to wait a few more months before deciding to ruin parts of my map and removing all items from it.
@Josh Item in chest? π
@Tridentnova nah I tried adding an old version from years ago and it did not work. That was way before I even found the end.
Yeah, I think its literally just too many items on a world. Not just shulkers. They havent optimizes the conversion system to handle large amounts of items in chests. Either high density areas of items or just too many in general. Not just shulkers. Like try literally deleting all chests, killing all npc's, item frames, anything.
Okay so I'm going to try to write this in the most polite way possible. So in July 2011 on Tu2 I created my minecraft server. I call it a survival economy server because the amount of people who play on it and it's layout. It's really a great project that the community and myself embarked on almost 7 years ago. Well now that this βbedrock editionβ made the Xbox Edition practically out dated. I have no problem with the bedrock edition but however, I would really love to upload our server to bedrock and even pay for realms. Many are in the same position as I am. I've tried every suggestion I've seen on this page. I've kept up with this page for months and after the last beta update I finally blew up that this issue isn't fixed. I finally decided to make an account on this page and comment how disappointed I am to how Microsoft and Mojang has disregarded some of their oldest customers. This conversion glitch is affecting mostly xbox 360 saves. Well I bought minecraft on the 360, I bought the xbox one specifically with minecraft in mind. I've spent plenty of money and I feel screwed as a customer. This conversion glitch should have been fixed before the main release. I'm going to continue to test how to get my save to bedrock without a crash at 1%. I shouldn't have to delete every item on the map though.
Please be sure to vote to bring more attention to the issue!
Iβve tried taking all my chest away which took hours and still did not work please donβt make us wait until this next update weβve already waited for to long
This is really frustrating. Let's all tweet and facebook post to them to fix this! Bring some attention to the issue!
I'm totally down let's try to get attention on YouTube as well. My suspicious is that this glitch is targeting originally 360 world's that have a lot of structures. I also think items from people's inventories may cause a problem to. I know when someone doesn't join my world in a month or 2 their inventory gets wiped so I probably have a maxed out memory for player id's. I did get a recently made 360 world to transfer about a month ago but not my old copy of my server.
I still have "petrified oak slabs" in buildings from 360 in my world, and a lot of items what cant stacking with the same type of items.
So this bug fix still hasnβt fixed anything I still canβt convert my world to the new minecraft this sucks to know it still doesnβt work I got excited too
Yes, I'm looking into this myself. I believe I have some useful information for some people. I DID successfully transfer my map! They didn't fix anything, I just had to go in and start removing items. We got rid of EVERYTHING the first time and it worked. We are slowly removing specific things now to see what it is. What we know is
1.) It's not JUST shulker boxes. We removed all of them completely (Did not destroy chests with normal items) and it still wouldn't transfer.
2.) We removed enough stuff in chests to make the file size smaller. (That was the only time it transferred)
3.) Location may have a part in the issue.
We actually missed some chests and shulker boxes that were sitting at the edge of the world. (WAY off the main map in a corner) So, it may be that items need to be spread out etc.
Unfortunately we have not been successful in replicating the issue on other worlds. No matter how many shulkers we put down, other (new) worlds transfer.
This is a very mysterious problem but my friends and I are serious about finding out what's wrong since the people who accidentally made the glitch won't.
Message me on Xbox Live @Tridentnova if you have any ideas or info.
I am able to reproduce this on ipad as well.
Just want to add to what I said etc. I would like to thank the people working ever so diligently on this problem, it's not like it has been a problem since launch (Sarcasm). This definitely is not something that they can fix. I'm sure they are suuuuper smart, but it's time that everyone watching this issue realizes that they took your money. They don't care about you or if you enjoy the game. We are a small group of people and we are not worth their time. If you want to transfer your map, take it into your own hands. If there are chests on your world, that is why it is not transferring. I can guarantee that if you remove 100% of your chests and items, it should work after a few tries.
My 5 year old solo city is still sitting on the old version too, 100,000's of hours of research & study were put into creating it, & now I have no idea what to do, building it still would just contribute to it's conversion issue. Depressing really, I beg you to fix it, Ill even pay you.
Oh yeah, we'd pay money to have realms.
Please keep in mind there are currently 52 Xbox One Edition versions that have been published. If you add the 62 versions for Xbox 360 that can be imported to the Xbox one edition. That adds up to 114 published releases. Within those releases any save data can be different (adds up to millions of block and / or item combinations).
We don't support modified saves in this process.
Supplying any detailed information on how to reproduce conversion issues is highly appreciated. Since there is no default reproduction for this conversion crash. All conversion crash issues are added together. If you find any specific circumstance where the issue is reproducible, it is appreciated (feel free to create a separate ticket and refer to this issue/ticket).
If you do participate in beta releases and are able to upload the specific world, please include the receipt on this ticket.
I don't understand. Can't you just force people to upgrade to the latest Xbox one edition Minecraft prior to conversion? Or are you saying that even if it is at the latest version the save data can be different depending on the original version the world was created on?
There seems to be plenty of people reproducing the crashes. They all seem to be item related.

I'm wondering have any of you made a back up save and tried removing as many entities as possible as well as chests and then try to convert to see if it's items or if it's a different issue all together. On the back up save I would destroy as many entities as possible that includes all mobs such as villagers, monsters and animals, armor stands, item frames, pictures, minecarts, boats, end crystals, xp orbs etc. Let any items floating on the ground despawn. Then try to convert. Also try clearing your Xbox cache before converting by holding the power button down until the console shuts off. That helps with a lot of issues.
Those are the steps I used to convert mine. The bug fixers have done a lot for this game in the last few months, it was borderline unplayable at launch,
My World is Successfully Converted so bye! I hope it gets fixed for all you soon though
So I finally caved and decided to remove all my chest, around 300 of them, except one double chest where I stored my most valuable things and it did convert. It is not perfect but I can replace all of the stuff I lost it will just take time. My world was created on Xbox One and the only things I removed where chest, still had a bunch of farm mobs, picture frames, armor stands, redstone things and so on.
Just a warning, you don't seem to be able to reset the End or the Nether so make sure to do that in your OG save before you move it over.
@Michael zarda. It is an issue with the world itself. I deleted everything n my backup. Building, chests everything gone essentially a blank world, still won't get past 1%.
My world is not a modified save. . . Normal save. With lots of stuff on it. Would like a duplicated block or item cause this? I'm just tryin to see if theres anything else that causes this. I successfully transferred my map after ruining half of it and destroying 99% of the chests. the other 1% were chests that I couldn't find. I did find shulker boxes that I missed, so I think it might be concentration of items idk man.
Hey Josh has everyone who has been in your world emptied their inventory? I think inventories may be a factor if someone has a ridiculous amount of Shulker boxes.
As of right now, It's a solid I don't know. We have transferred the map once and I believe some people still had inventories and items in their end chest. I successfully transferred, but still in an unacceptable form. I literally have to ruin the map to get it to work. . . which is unfortunate. Too bad this can't just be fixed. It's too difficult to fix.
Anyone else have any ideas on what to do? Specific items or things to remove?
I can;t believe they have not fixed this yet, Ive been taking a minecraft vacation until they do, I have a 5 year-old Ancient Roman city that I built that is waiting to get finished! Maybe if the creators added a "Empty all chests" or "Remove all entities & mobs" or "Remove block X" that would make it much easier to actually fix our worlds for converting, Ive been searching my city for months for anything that creates a particle, or moves etc. There are 24 more maps to try and search now too for these items & I honestly don't know where everyones little cave home-home is out there to empty, & so I'm stuck unable to convert & unwilling to build on the old version because that will probably just make converting harder too. Never thought I'd stop playing minecraft in this fashion.
@Drew Douglas Jackson I'm in the same situation Ive searched everything and there is probably more chests and entities I haven't found. I probably have broke just about 1000 chests and Shulker boxes. If they did add in an option to remove all chests, entities and player inventories that may help alot! Hopefully something changes soon because I don't play minecraft anymore either
I return to the Xbox One Edition since december... because I don't want to create another world while I have a world from 360 create in 2013 and where I can do a lot in because it's a large world...
But patience guys; on Twitter a Mojang's/Miscrosoft's member said that a new BETA will coming and it's goal is to identificate the ''no-converted world'', and it can be release soon because she said that last week! (if I remember correctly) π
Why are comments relevant to this glitch being removed? I just saw that @Josh had a comment removed and y'all have done it to me as well. The time that y'all did it to me I simply had just asked a question I believed to be relevant to this issue. Then yall proceeded to get Mega_Spud to reply about "keeping comments to a minimum". Buisnesses who provide services don't get to decide what is and isn't said about their products. Their is a community of loyal but disgruntled patrons to Microsoft that would like to see an issue fixed. If y'all don't like what people are saying about this glitch how about you fix it then?

So I just tried to convert my original 360 map that is 16 Mb and it crashed partway through conversion. to be clear this is the map i made on the 360 before I converted it to an xbox one map and built more.
How do I join the beta to submit this world?
@Adam Wallaart there are no BETA available yet... soon!
I have an idea, but it's just an idea, in the Bedrock when we put a map in an Item Frame, I found that the map is bigger than in the Xbox One Edition. As I have a lot of map in Item Frame in my world; could be possible that it's the problem?
(and also for the moment, a bug is with Item Frame: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCCE-5637 ; please, if you have it, go to vote it please)
Or maybe I found the map bigger on Bedrock because my world floor is at ''y: 5'' as I create it in 2013, we can't change the heigth of the floor....
(really sorry if there are mistakes) π
@angecalo, There is definitely more to it than just the maps in item frames. I can successfully transfer my worlds if I remove all known items in existence, not just the maps. Hopefully it works for somebody though.
I can have my world!!!! the 1.2.13.5 (the new BETA) ''fix it''! π
Ok moderators an update. The 1.2.13.5 did allow my map to convert (finally). However, it did delete every map that was in an item frame. The item frames themselves are still there. Also every chest that was on the world disappeared also. No biggie. This is good enough for me. Maybe the 1.2.13 official update will fix that. On a side note Before conversion my world was 385.4 MB. After conversion it was 285. The BTU compresses the world while converting.
I've been suffering from this problem for a long time too and was finally able to transfer my world, though everything made with pistons is broken and when I walk up to a certain point the game crashes. When I first spawned in I fell through the world and died as well, and when I tried respawning it happened again and again until about the sixth time, when suddenly it put me in the normal world spawn. Very close, I'm sure you've almost got it!
Is this not a thing for xbox? I don't see this update or anything like it. . .? 1.2.13.5? I'm still on 1.2.10 and there's no update.
@Joseph D Booth: my map in Item Frame are always here for me; but when I open a map, there is a very large zoom on a part of it! so I think you map was delete because it's not the same ''type-of-map''... but why I always have mine? I don't know... I don't see if my chest are always here, I will tell you when I return to my world.... π
@Josh: it's a BETA! π
Can we update the name of the bug report? It doesn't just affect "large worlds"
@angecalo Where do i get the BETA!?
@Josh with the application ''Xbox Hub Insider'' on the Xbox One π
Tried converting again today, went a bit better than last time. Last time a bunch of the blocks around the piston doors were out of place as well as the doors not working, this time I'd say maybe half of those block errors, but everything with pistons is still affected. Chests seem fine, I left my player above ground this time so when it converted I didnt fall through the map. I have one room that sorts items and has a LOT of item frames and chests/redstone chests/hoppers and droppers, I don't know if thats causing my issue but when I try to go down the hallway and I get near that room, the game just crashes back to dashboard. If I boot up the game after the crash, I spawn in underwater, about 20 blocks above where I was when it crashed. Weird. Hope this helps somehow
My world converted all chests seem to be in order, no crashes since converting. The only problem Iβve encountered so far is that pistons arenβt working correctly
My world, which I'd uploaded previously converted today. I did NOT have to remove my map wall, destroy any inventory. All of the redstone contraptions that I've checked, including a fairly substantial item sorter are fully intact. I do NOT have any issues with pistons. It seems like, at least with my world (300mb, original xbox 360 converted to Xbone, expanded map, etc), everything worked.
One odd thing is that a lot of the water turned an awful shade of green. Almost all of the water surrounding my primary area has this awful looking water, with splotches of normal blue scattered in it. I haven't glided around the full map to see if that's happening elsewhere.
Anyway, thanks for your efforts on this Mojang. Better late than never, and it seems you've made substantial progress.
EDIT - I've had the opportunity to explore more, and it seems my home area was deemed a swamp after the conversion. Everything else looks normal, including all of my other villages and settlements scattered throughout the map. Just bad luck I guess.
Hopefully this isn't something put in on purpose but. . . It refuses to sync my newer saves of my survival map. I've tried copying them, renaming them, and moving around etc. If I change a copy to be creative, it syncs immediately. It will only recognize the survival save from Feb. 19th instead of my March 5th save. π
Like, they literally don't show up in the list to be synced.
The old save DOES transfer with no noticeable issues
@Josh: Since in your case the game is not crashing, it's different from the bug described in this issue. Please create a new issue describing your problem. You might also want to review the Issue Guidelines. Following the format they describe will produce a report that helps us help you in the most effective way.
@Josh me too! but to have the real ''last time played'' you must to:
1-highlight the picture of the game in ''my game and applications''
2-press start, you have some options like ''Hub of the game''
3-press the ''manage the game'' option
4-you have three options (If I remember correctly) the last is ''saves'' or something like that; when you are on it, you have your saves
5-BE CAREFULL! *highlight your saves and you press start;
*an onely option to remove your save is writen,
*press it and HERE you must to be carefull, you must to delete you save ONELY
on the console (NOT everywhere because you loose your saves forever)
*sometimes you must to delete your saves on the console two times
6-after that, when in ''saves'' you don't see your saves, you open the game and after the sync' you must have you real ''last time played''! π
@[MCPE Helper] Auldrick and @Josh: here is it, I had already explain my technique on it: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-28874 π
Hey i tried converting my world it still crashes please tell me the way everyone is fixing the issue because I want to convert my world
Hi everyone. To answer the main question above. The 1.2.13.5 beta is obtained from the Xbox insider hub on Xbox and Windows 10. And by scrolling all the way to the bottom of Minecraft in the app store or Google play. There will be an option to join the Minecraft beta.
On a second note, while the 1.2.13. Beta fixed the conversion issue 1.2.11 has the bug still there as it doesn't even try to sync the world before converting. My workaround is to:
1. Convert the world while on 1.2.13.5.
2. Once done converting, DO NOT open the world in 1.2.13.5, quit Minecraft all the way. Close the game not minimized.
3. Unenroll from the Minecraft beta from the insider hub.
4.Uninstall then reinstall Minecraft to return to the 1.2.11 build from 1.2.13.5.
5.Make sure it's 1.2.11 from the lower left corner of the main menu or under manage game.
6. Enjoy your newly converted Minecraft world that you can now make into a realm if you want.
Nice! That converted it, thanks so much for posting that.
i also have the same issue, my minecraft save created on day 1 on Xbox 360, which has been converted to Xbox One when it came out, fail to convert to Minecraft Bedrock version at 90%. so i tried to upload the world to developers, but even that make my game to crash.
i'm on Xbox One X, latest beta of Minecraft and its doing that since it came out. How can i send it to you if even this functionnality freeze the game ?
This was fixed since the first update aquatic beta was released.
While the crashing error seems to be fixed and it transfers my world every time, my 3 block high pistons doors all malfunction, with the middle piston not seeming to receive power at all. Some more complicated piston contraptions and doors also malfunction, including an item sorter I spent days upon days on. In the item sorter room there are chests and item frames for most items in the game, and in the corners of the room where an item frame sits in a corner right beside another item frame on the next wall, all of the item frames in the corners have come off the walls as well as the items within the frames. I really want to switch to the new version and enjoy realms but this is just killing it for me.
Those are not issues with the world transfers, That's just how redstone in bedrock is man. If you like technical things, which it sounds like you do. Bedrock is not for you. You can do "technical" things in bedrock, but nearly all of the typical mechanics are broken. Mob spawning, random redstone and inconsistent redstone etc etc etc. Very frustrating trying to make things that are half decent in that game.
Been following this for a while.. Seems a lot of people can convert their worlds at this point.
Β
Mine still crash at around 48% every single time.. I've tried the usual stuff, deleting boxes and various other things, taking out mobs and all sorts of things.. Nothing have worked.
My world is around 160mb.
Β
I joined the beta program just to upload my world, and only got a confirmation that they got the world but won't be able to follow up (or something like that)
Β
Although some of my other worlds that were previously failing to convert are now working, I still have a world that crashes the game every single time I attempt to convert it, no matter what I do. The world is a superflat redstone testing world that was originally created on the Xbox 360, imported to Xbox One edition and expanded, and now I am attempting to convert the world into Minecraft bedrock.
The world is particularly important to me, and holds a lot of sentimental and functional value, and I would really appreciate if the developers wouldn't call it quits just yet on attempting to fix world conversions crashing failures. I have included a screenshot of my world submission receipt. Thanks!Β
I have a world that is only 1.4MB, and even after the 1.5.3 hotfix, whenever I try to convert it, it still crashes the game. It is always around 16% or 20%, and just closes out the game with no notifications regarding the crash. It is similar to a few others, it is a redstone superflat world, and the world still works fine on Xbox One edition, so the world is not corrupted.
Mine too still fails to convert, can never get past 49%, and I try after each new update.
I've sent in the world twice, via the beta program, but no response.
Even if a few people now can convert their world without freeze, i think many people still have a freeze when trying to convert it.
Β
i saw that 4JStudios, dev of the Xbox One Edition, said that they are going to work on their world transfer system. maybe they can fix our problem on their side, by changing the way our save are made ?
Β
my world created on Xbox 360Β day one, then converted on Xbox One, expended to a bigger size, still can't be converted on Bedrock edition. it crash at 90-91% everytime. Also, the functionnality to upload the world to dev to investigate also make my game freeze when uploading..
Β
for me, this is the biggest issue with this version. that's why i still don't use it, since i can't use my worlds which contain everything
So I have a world that is originally created on the newest edition " better togeather" I've heard it called.Β Been playing with my daughter for about 6 months,
[media][media][media]on November 5th. We could not get on because of Microsoft having issues. Ever since then I have been getting these messages. That it could not fully sync the world or the file is corrupt.Β Try play on another console and then try migrating again.Β This did not fix anything. I have removed my profile from the console. I have deleted the data stored on the counsel and then removed my profile. And nothing is working. After doing both of these with out working, I am now getting a message that says I can use realms because of my Xbox live privacy settings but everything is allowed.Β The world still syncs to 97% the stops.Β Plese help!!
Like many others my former xbox360 save crashes when attempting to sync old worlds. Mine freezes at 2%, then 6% and sometimes even gets to 10% before crashing the game. It's a smallish file, 10 mb but a world my friend and I sunk hundreds of hours in. Please don't give up on these transfers.
BOYS, AFTER YEARS OF TRYING IVE FINALLY FOUND A FIX FOR OLD WORLDS NOT CONVERTING. The problem is simple but can be complex to solve. After years of getting the same and similar results when converting Xbox 360 world's to bedrock and Xbox one world's, I tried something. I thought, "maybe it's the old chest information and chunk info" and so, I got a new map on Xbox one edition, flew around until it was full ( this will require multiple for bigger world's), opened all chests at least once, and I rode all minecarts at least once. After saving, I went to bedrock on my Xbox one and converted, and what do you know? It worked. Finally. If only my og world wasn't deleted by the first conversion supporting build of bedrock. I converted the tu1 update tutorial btw in case you were wondering.
Oh and I placed the map in a chest so i wouldn't have to re-fill it. I kept nothing in my inventory.
And I placed all old paintings into a chest
The first few times I did this, I didn't get all chests. In this case, the world conversion may be higher than before (or not) but may still crash. If so, you probably didn't get everything. Chests from monster spawners (from Xbox 360) count too.
Chests from Xbox 360 in general. Xbox one chests may be fine but id do everything from both Xbox 360 and Xbox one just in case
Update; oddly enchanted items (such as items that use enchantments meant for bows, weapons, other tools, etc. And items in your inventory) may prevent conversion from working. Update 2: just tested on two more worlds native to Xbox 360, they worked.
And by native, I mean just converted from Xbox 360 and originally made on Xbox 360.
Update 3: despite not wanting to, you will have to enable cheats to remove these items and to fly around the world. The world cannot be scaled by walking. Chunks (for some reason) seem to update better when in the air. Basically, it won't convert unless you fly.
Update 4: if you try to perform this on Xbox 360, IT WILL NOT WORK AND WILL RENDER YOUR WORLD AS "ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH MINECRAFT (2017)" FOR GOING ON ANY WORLD ON XBOX 360 WILL DO THAT. you're better of converting to Xbox one edition and THEN performing these steps.
Is there any way I could get this posted on the official website support section where people can find this on the go? I feel not many people will read my solution

Definitely still a problem
This issue is still happening for me - Can we get an update or a fix?Β
This issue is still present as of 17 July 2020 and I am fully up to date on MCPE and MCCE
This is still a problem, I have a small xbox360 world that I can transfer to the xbox box one version, but it crashs at around 44% when trying to import into the bedrock version, everything is up to date, I created a ticket at MCPE-94581 before I found this one, I have the worlds bin file on a usb stick as I can export the world off the 360, its 22MB, you can have it for analysis if you let me upload it somehow or maybe an email ?
Thanks,
Dave.

@Jay Wells would you like a sample corrupted world? I can provide if you send me the steps
Instructions for providing a world are in the note in the Description above.
If that does not work, you can either attach a copy of the pre-conversion world to this report, or upload to a file sharing service and put a link to it in a comment.
My build on xbox doesnβt give Feature in the description option in game when launched. What Xbox app will allow me to upload to you guys?
Or you can put me in that beta.

Yes this is still a problem. Conversion for me is failing at 33% which is a percentage that seems to be reoccurring for people in relation to these conversion failures. I'm currently trying things like removing chests, emptying inventory and saving in the nether in an attempt to get my 360 world from the XB1 edition and into Better Together but nothing is working.
5 years later, this still isnt fixed and the developers clearly don't care enough to do anything about it.
Countless people have sent in their worlds to be assessed - what good has come from it?
Cant even play my world in the XB1 edition because minecraft 360 was updated beyond the point that the XB1 edition was updated. Mojang truely is pathetic.
@aspergian
This is still an issue. If you or other devs/engineers need more sample data please let us know. I have technical skills to help support this issue.
Thanks,

I wanted to provide an update for people following this bug.Β I was able to finally convert my Minecraft map after years of trying.Β From what i believe fixed my issue was that I had water and other blocks that were outside the original sized map area. I was able to remove the blocks and water that was cascading outside the map and was able to convert.Β Β
Β
My recommendation is to check your map and ensure there are no blocks/water/lava outside the maps area and clean them up and try to convert.Β
