On Java Edition: you can hear some ambient sounds when you are on water/oceans or nether that make the game feel more alive.
The ones that are under the "loop" category they must play all the time in the oceans and nether. Those sounds don't exist for Bedrock. Neither the other ambient sounds like additions and moods exist for the nether and water.
On Bedrock Edition: On water you don't hear any ambient sounds at all. Not even mood sounds (like in caves or in "pre 1.16.210.51" nether).
On beta 1.16.210.51 most nether sounds were added (with 1.16.210.53 adding them for mobile as well) but it is still missing exactly 16 ambient sounds.
Nether Wastes is missing 1 (mood5),
Warped Forest is missing 10 (mood 5-9 and creak 1-5) and
Basalt Deltas is missing 5 (ground 4 and active 1-4).
More info about all the ambient sounds can be found here: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ambience

Yes, I can confirm.

Yes me too

Still affects beta 1.16.0.64

Why this needs fixing: The ambient sounds add so much atmosphere and life to the nether and it's sad that the majority of players (bedrock users) won't be able to experience them at launch (if the bug doesn't get fixed before, which I highly doubt).

Confirmed for 1.16.0

Its not fix in 1.16.0...
The nether is silent without these

I think it happens in all platform

I confirm, this happens in all platforms, I thought that this only affects Minecraft pe, but I buy minecraft for Windows 10 and the nether ambient sounds also still missing here yet

https://youtu.be/ZfNAMFgfDEE youtube video link shows what is missing. Or some of it?

I believe I know why the ambience doesn't play: it in fact does. However, I suspect it plays under the cave ambience engine. For example, I'd be running around in the nether and then I'd faintly hear a nether ambience sound play, with similar (or more) rarity than their overworld counterpart. The Bedrock team just needs to give it it's own sound engine so it will sound like Java Edition does.

I hope it doesn't take 2 years to add this, I really would like this in the ocean and in the nether

The reason is because adding those sound will make the download "heavier" on some devices and mojang considers that putting those sounds is useless... Well, they add a lot to the experience and they shouldn't be sacrificed. Perhaps and idea is to exist like the music discs did before... optional download on mobile devices via the marketplace (they will be free to download of cource). On consoles and Win10 they should be there by default... That might not sound like parity for the edition but its the best so some of us who want them can have them. That's similar to the more sound settings in java.... If mojang things thats unfair since not all of us can have the same, just think of the marketplace music download option duh.

Affects 1.16.100

There is now ambience in the nether as of 1.16.210.50

I dont hear the Nether ambience in 1.16.210.50 (except the MOOD ambience), like its not working

If you are playing on mobile you need to update the minecraft music pack via the marketplace.

Not seeing this in today's changelog? Didn't make it into the update did it? 😞

I think its cause the nether ambient sound is for 1.16.210.50 and the update the came out today is for 1.16.200.

There is still no nether and underwater ambient sounds for 1.16.201

@Gabriel The nether sound have been fixed in 1.16.210 betas but yes, the ocean sounds are still missing!

I checked the sound files and sound definitons. The nether is still missing exactly 16 ambient sounds. Nether Wastes is missing 1(mood5), Warped Forest is missing 10(mood 5-9 and creak 1-5) and the Basalt Deltas is missing 5(ground 4 and active 1-4).

MCPE-74756 is now marked as fixed in today's full release. Does that count for this too? Not sure I understand the difference.

Affects 1.17.40.20

Affects 1.18.10.20 beta

Affects 1.18.1

Ts still a problem today I wish they would still fix this.

Still happening in 1.19.X

Also affects 1.19.60.24

Still affects 1.20.41
The nether (specially the warped forest) feels incomplete without these sounds, and don't get me started with underwater ambience.
Btw, can you update the link to "https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ambience"?

Can confirm that the ambient sound is still missing today in version 1.21.21

still affects beta/preview version 1.21.30.23 , still no ocean/water ambiance sounds

It is worth noting the following sound files are all unused on Java Edition. They are not called by any sound event:
Basalt Deltas:
active1
active2
active3
active4
ground4
Soul Sand Valley:
mood8
mood9
The other nine sounds mentioned in the report are used in-game and should definitely be added for parity.
I could not find any Java bug report about these sounds being unused, though the unused status is tracked on the wiki.
