Couldn't connect to world
io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information: 52.226.92.180/52.226.92.180:32206

I'm seeing the same error messages as the ones shown in the screenshots above, on MacOS 10.15.6, since September 19. Can't switch worlds (I get the 500 error "read timed out" shown in Tom Gaffney's comment above), have also tried all suggestions on the official Realms Java Edition connection issues helpdoc. I was actually able to log back in yesterday and thought it was fixed (as Michael Matthews noted above) but the errors are recurring today. So the connection issue appears to be happening inconsistently.

Hey everyone, please note that Mojang Studios is aware of the issue and investigating the cause. Please continue to be patient, and keep an eye on this report for updates.
However, please do not comment on this report with things like "Same Problem here" or "I'm also having issues" - if you do experience the same error, please instead just upvote this report by clicking "Vote for this issue" at the top. To keep this report clean I will remove all comments that do not follow the rules. Thank you everyone for your help!

To Add on this:
I cannot speak for everyone else but in my case, in addition to not being able to access Realms...
1- Cannot Close the Realm down either
2- Cannot Switch Worlds
2a- This also means cannot access any of the "minigames"
3- Cannot download a backup to use on singleplayer

We have several people investigating this cause - stay tuned! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Certain users are not starting to see their Realms become available again, showing clearly that they are making progress in fixing the issue for everyone.
Please do not comment "But I still have the issue" - this report is still open, and like I said, they are continuing to work hard on fixing the issue as soon as possible. This is just an update for you, thank you for your continued patience.

Thanks for the update! I know the Mojang team is working very hard trying to resolve this issue. Your comment stating that there is progress being made and some users re-gaining access to Realms is great news! Although there is not much detail given, I feel that comments like these give relief to the community instead of the BOT messages.
Thank you for your hard work and I look forward to seeing my Realm very soon!

My realm is working now. Thank you!

I see some Realms are back up, Could we get a RCA please?

I am online as well. Thank you so much Mojang for your hard work! It would be nice to get an RCA but I am just glad it is back up.
If anything is needed from me please feel free to reach out, and again we appreciate the support!

Is there a location of servers that are down (for example NA-east or detroit servers) or is it random whose realm is up or down?

I saw this issue showed resolved but it hasn't been resolved for me.
In fact, I haven't been able to log on at all in the past three days and my kids and friends are ALL getting this same error. No one has played on my realm for three days, no one can get on.

@Rob: No, this issue is not Resolved - as you can clearly see, it is still open. While for a lot of people, it has now been resolved, some are still experiencing issues unfortunately.

I know that this will probably be deleted, but mine started working again and then stopped.

my subscription is set to renew in 7 days. I wish to cancel since this is day 4 that I still cannot access the realm but I cannot even download the backup and do not want to lose it. Is there any other way to download the backup of my realm so I can quit trying every hour or so?

Rob: You can download a backup of the Realm even after the subscription has expired, though I do not expect this to last that long.

Well, I tried again and still cannot log on or download latest backup. I really want to know if there is any other way to download the latest backup of the world, like an FTP site or something? My play time with my kids is very limited and I have lost a lot already.

Thank you for everyone's comments, however, as I stated above please do not comment if the only thing you are going to say is "Me too, when will this be fixed?".
Unfortunately, apart from the comment from Ined here as well as a single Mojang Status tweet on Monday, we have not received any other update on this issue, (see below) though the slowdown in reports in the last 12 hours show that the issue may be resolved - but I will keep an eye on incoming technical support channels and of course new reports.
But please don't think that Mojang is not working on this - I am certain it is a very high priority for them to solve this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

The Realms team rolled out a couple of hotfixes yesterday which should have addressed the main issue. We will keep monitoring our realms and this bug for any additional lingering issues

Tough bug. I can connect now. It did fail to connect once and the message was different in that is was RED.
A lot of us are wondering what the root cause was. Was it a configuration of source under your control - is it something that won't happen again?
I'll ask again (since my comment was deleted). In the future can you adopt a policy of 1st insuring the error message displayed to the user indicates if it is a server side issue? Almost all of the users 1st wasted time verifying their installation and firewall settings.

Are we going to get our realms subscription extended? I wasn't able to connect for several days because of this bug.

I am wondering this like the comment above @CQ and many others that this was inconvenient towards. My realms just expired today and was not able to get on during the issue. Either a refund or realms extension would be great and appreciated.

In response to the sentence "I will keep an eye on incoming technical support channels and of course new reports."
I'm still having issues. My original post is one of the ones linked a duplicate and I added the photo from my issue titled: "wow.png"
I've tried multiple ways of fixing it myself and its no good. I also noticed while reading through this issue that the error messages here are different from mine. However my issues were also linked to this one which has made me stop attempting to fix it myself and I now join everyone else in waiting.

@unknown & @unknown please contact customer support. I can't speak of extended subscriptions, we only deal with the actual bugs.

Yesterday was able to connect with no issues. Today I can connect but will have occasional issues when resetting the world using a world template (error: "Realms (500) Could not connect to Realms: Read time out").
Not sure if it is coincidence, but I recall noticing this issue begin for me after Windows 10 ran an update. I am currently running Windows 10 Home, version: 2004, installed on: 9/14/2020, OS build 19041.508, Windows feature experience pack: 120.2212.31.0.
Thanks for your hard work.

I'll resolve this bug, it seems our Realms are now stable again!

If you continue to have Realms connections issues, please check the Minecraft Help Center - if that does not help, please contact Mojang Studios Support directly.

i'm having this issue but for one realm only. i can connect to my OWN realm but not someone elses. they are both listed as "open" realms (green light). Normal servers work just fine.

I am having the same issue as T but reversed, multiplayer servers are working fine, other people's realms are connecting after a bit, but I get this error every time i attempt to join my own realm despite it working fine yesterday afternoon. It has the green light and I have tried updating my computer, disconnecting and reconnecting my wifi, logging out of my mojang and restarting the game and logging back in, updating to a different version, and still no luck.

Same as T, I can connect to my own Realm but not one of my friend's. Everything else works fine, I think this needs to be reopened.

Same... can't connect, starting to get frustrated because people who pay a premium for server connectivity seem to get the worst customer experience.
and beyond this bug/downtime... Shouldn't these patches be validated and servers patched first prior to the game update being released and be backwards compatible to older clients so we don't have to be denied entry to our realms while the servers/clients get to the same level?
Been having the same problem since yesterday.
