Whenever I log on to my Realms world, I'm able to edit a Book and Quill book, even if I've already written in it, and it will save the text the 1st time. However, if I try editing afterwards, closing the book and reopening shows all the new text is now gone.
Oddly enough, this seems to reset if I log out and back in to Realms. First edit works, all subsequent edits get erased after the book is closed. It's rendered the books useless to me.
I didn't test this in a non-realms world but frankly, I think this is code based since I have no mods installed or purchased from the store in that world. It's vanilla.

It's not the same issue as MCPE-141420 at all as this is happening only after I close the book and regardless of the length of the string text or whether it contains line breaks or not. It could be a single character and it will still disappear.
Does this only happen on a realm, or does the issue also occur in a local world?

Hi, i also have this issue. It only works on realms.
Steps to reproduce:
Open a realm.
Open an already written in book. Make a copy of it.
Type some gibberish or something in it.
Close the book.
Reopen the book. The text should be either nothing in it if the book was blank before, or the previous version before you edited it.
Observed results:
The book reverts to the version of the book before you edited it.
Expected results:
The book should save the edits.

i was trying to use the book to list names, but i cant until this is fixed. oh well, its not like i can use renammed paper (Cough Cough, REALMS-9223, cough cough)
This issue still persists as of 1.20.80. but I did find a way to reproduce a similiar effect. Spamming as many letters as you can within 2 seconds to fill the page then instantly closing the book erases the first page entirely. So I am guessing that issue probably the stems from a problem with a server side fail safe. It is also possible that the auto censoring feature might have unfinished code left in it from a previous iteration.
Additionally occurs in Minecraft Java when updating a old world already on the Realm. [[REALMS-11773] Upgrading a world on realms clears all text in books - Jira (mojang.com)|https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/REALMS-11773?filter=-2]
