We are also having this problem on our realm. We are making signs, then logging back in later and the signs are all blank. It's really annoying as we're using them to label things and it's causing some discord. Please can someone help or report if this will be fixed.

My Signs Turn Blank Again After Writing On Them.. When I Leave The Area And Come Back There Black.. Or Just Staying Beside The Sign After I Name It. The Text Will Disappear After A Few Seconds And The Sign Will Be Blank...

Seen this also (Windows 10). Found if you write on a sign and exit Realm too soon, when you come back the sign text is empty. Only way to get it to 'stick' is be within the loaded chunk for a while... hope this helps.

Just a hunch, but could it be related to obscenity checking? Create a sign saying "Don't be a dick". Sign is immediately blank (which is not what I'm normally seeing... it goes blank later). I can't verify without reverting to older versions but in chat this would normally have been replaced by asterisks. Having said that, even a sign saying "Wholesome goodness" will still go blank if you leave too soon.

Thanks for the tips. I checked with Obscenity Bug Reports.
In my issue the sign disappear when students join realm not exit. When students started dying signs with glow ink the glitch happens more often but not consistently.

Having issues being able to name items.

Signs are still showing up with no text on them in my realm. Even ones that previously were fine.

Still occurring in 1.17.40. Text may not disappear immediately, but disappears once the chunk reloads (e.g., from traveling far enough away from the sign, or from all players logging out of the realm).

In our realm the sign blanks out when teleporting away. I am not having that issue on single player.

Yeah, when you place a sign and write on it, it stays on the sign and isn't able to be seen by all other players. When you leave the realm and come back, the sign is still there but the text is gone. I added a photo of it happening on my Nintendo Switch. I think it affects every platform though. It also doesn't do this on my own worlds. I think it's a realm thing.

Gonna go ahead and pour more fuel on fire: can confirm still broken.

Gonna jump on the bandwagon. This affects both my switch and PC versions of bedrock in Realms.
I'll add that if I move away from the sign by several hundred blocks and return, the sign is blank when it's reloaded.

However, signs placed before what ever update caused this bug keep their text

Relates to MCPE-146229, REALMS-9223 and REALMS-9231.

Happens to me on My Realm as well, I've just submitted a bug report on this! REALMS-9553

This has started to occur on my realm too!

I'm playing Realms with members on Xbox and PC and we all experience sign text disappearing. Signs placed before Sep 21 keep their text, some new signs have text disappear when the chunk gets unloaded/reloaded.

Can confirm this is still an issue even after small update.

We have this issue on Windows 10, nintendo switch, and ps4 on our realm...we found that if you want to write on a sign and have it stay go into the nether and unload the area. Come back and run to where you want you sign and put it up fast. You have about 2 minutes that writing on a sign will stay, after that its blank and you have to leave the area again. Hope this helps someone but we noticed it after a person wrote on a sign and it stayed so we tested over and over until we found the 2 minute load works. we did this with plain vanilla sign text, altering the text via the legacy code, and adding colors/glow squid, it all worked as long as you do it very fast when you load into the area....we also noticed that someone can sign out and let another start writing the sign then the person that logged out can log back in and it increases the 2 minute time to around 5 minutes...but it does stop working and going into the nether and back works everyone has to leave the area, it might work just running far away and unloading the area but we used the nether each time

This bug is super inconsistent–sometimes text only disappears if you use dye or glow ink, sometimes it disappears immediately, sometimes it stays and then disappears when you reload the chunk. This is what I did to repro the screenshots below:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter text
2. Fewer characters tend to stay
3. Enter >15 or so characters
Observed Results:
Text immediately disappears before exiting the sign editor
Expected Results:
Text should stay on the sign permanently
It's super frustrating because again it's super inconsistent, I've been trying any number of things to find a workaround for a few weeks and I haven't found anything that consistently helps.

The disappearing text seems to be connected to the chat lag and nametags not working. Either all 3 work, or none of them. In my realm, we hurry up and place signs/write nametags while chat is working because when chat stops...nothing sticks.

The issue seems to have worsened because the text is disappearing immediately after placing the sign. I have noticed that if you place a sign with pre-existing NBT data, it won't be affected.

We have this issue in our realm since starting 1.18. We cannot create any nametags (it just refuses to work at all), we cannot rename any items (makes item filters impossible to create safely), all sign text vanishes (text disappears and cannot be read) and no game chat can be seen by any other players. This also affects making posts to the realm feed, they simply never appear. Not being able to communicate with the other players within the realm through any means of in game typed text makes for a very uncomfortable game experience.
Addendum: As of 1.18.12 this original bug report and the hundreds of linked bug reports is still occuring within a monthly subscription multi-player service. It is no longer intermittent, instead it is completely borked since 1.18 update and occurs all the time with all player text input interfaces! Please Dev team, this really needs looking into. I'm happy to invite any developer into my realm to test and verify. I am happy to post videos of all of the instances of the bug or screen captures, whatever is needed to to have someone simply acknowledge that they even recognise this bug as present for players who pay a monthly fee to play the game. Please read the comments and you will see many are experiencing the same level of frustration. And there will be many more who simply never bother to join the bug tracker and instead just cancel their realm services, and that is lost revenue.

Also have the same issues, have tried the mentioned fixes and tricks above. But noone on my realm (playing across xbox, win10, switch and mobile) have had any luck with any form of communication or naming. Been seeing the issue on twitch streams aswell so hopefully more people will bring awareness and some troubleshooting

I cannot add text to signs in my Realms survival world. I downloaded a copy of this world to my PC and when played locally I can successfully add text to a sign.
Steps to reproduce:
open survival world in Realms.
place sign
enter text in editor interface - text appears and then disappears on the placed sign as I type
exit editor interface - text appears momentarily on placed sign and then disappears
Observed Result:
After placing a sign I can type in the editor interface. This text remains in the editor window as I type but the text on the placed sign appears momentarily and then disappears. When I exit the sign's editor interface the text appears on the placed sign momentarily and then disappears. I have tried placing ink on the sign but the text is gone.
Expected Results:
When I type in a sign's editor interface the text should appear and remain visible on the placed sign as I type. When I exit the editor interface the text should remain visible on the sign.
[media]
I have the same problem too.
In my case, the sign text dosen't disappear in Realms of Windows Bedrock version (but it sometimes happend).
the sign text always disappears in Realms of Nintendo Switch version.
In both cases I'm connected to the same Realm server and the same world. [In 1.18]

Just wondering if anyone on Minecraft team can give an update on this one? It is really killing the experience of new exploration in 1.18, since we are doing a huge exploration mission. naming new lands and bases as we have adventures on our realm, but we cant put any signs to record the names. Also - not being able to rename maps is surprisingly painful when you are making copies of "Map 49" to mark everything... just not as immersive as handling a Map titled "Far North" or "Wild West".

Previous to the 1.18 this bug was intermittent. Signs, anchors, chat etc would all work at the same time for a bit, then not at all.
Since the launch of 1.18, none of these work at all. Ever.
Anvils don't work for renaming things. This makes name tags impossible to use.
Signs don't work.
Chat doesn't work.
Renaming maps doesn't work.
It is extremely annoying to not have the ability to rename anything, or be able to chat with other players.
And this ticket doesn't even appear to be assigned to anyone.
Can we get an update on when this will be resolved please?

Issue is still there.
Have tried signs, renaming objects, travelling between realm to trigger resets. Chatting with people, even while standing next to them and things like item drops happening in realm time. Nothing appears to be working. I'm not even getting a lagged chat hours later like some people have claimed elsewhere.
Is anyone looking into this?

Issue is still a problem for me, anytime I write on a sign or book my text disappears or starts randomly alligning itself. This bug has been super frustrating and has restricted alot of what I do inside the game. I am on the PS5 and when i switch to PS4 i have the same issue.

This ticket has been open for months. It has over a hundred tickets linked to it as duplicate. Yet there has been no official communication on it since October 6th, 2021.
Why is this issue still allowed to persist with no updates? It's getting beyond ridiculous now.

I have noticed this is mostly happening while I am on my Xbox consoles. I need to verify, again, but if I keep the sign message short while on Windows 10 I am able to keep the sign text. This doesn't help consoles, but maybe it will help Mojang.

Text on signs work just fine on most realms, but not on mine. It's frustrating that we can't use one of the most commonly used blocks for communication in our minigames. Fix this.

Me and my friends have resorted to buying another realm and the issue is still there. Will be issuing a refund on the new server and cancelling the original server, and applying for refund.

Confirming signs do not retain text at all on our 1.18 realm. Created at launch. Mix of devices: Switch, Android, Win10. Possibly related still can't use anvil to reliably rename nametags or weapons/tools. Less impact from books and chat here but not being able to use signs or rename items significantly impacts play-ability as it impacts on so many aspects of the game. This should be number 1 priority for an urgent big fix patch. Work on the betas and frogs after this is fixed.

I can no longer reproduce this issue with non-formatted signs as of 1.18.2. However, signs that have § formatting codes seem to be prone to this issue. I've noticed it occurs more often when formatted text bleeds onto the 5th line of the sign.

Oh maaan.
Version 1.18.10 update today and the signs are still not working, same with chat. Will be making a new ticket about this also as this thread is clearly dead.
Reply from @unknown: please do not make a new report. That's not how the bug tracker works. The report is not "dead" just because it is not resolved. It is still open and shows the current version, and that's all it needs to be considered for prioritization by Mojang. Making a new report that will just be resolved as a duplicate only creates work for the bug tracker staff, who are community volunteers.

At least on the one Realm that I play on, the issue as originally reported (i.e. text disappears after chunk reload/relog) has stopped occuring for at least a few weeks. Text may still disappear immediately after exiting the sign GUI (REALMS-3491/REALMS-2514), but if the text stays on, it is still there after relogging.

@GoldenHelmet Perhaps this ticket felt dead, because it's just been crickets as far as responses go. For months.
Even now, there's been no updates except to say that it's not dead. Ok. So who's assigned to look into this? When do we expect someone will be assigned to start fixing this issue? Where on the priority list does this fall?
A bug that essentially disables all effective communication on multi player realms should have more response than the void of nothingness into which this ticket seems to have fallen.
Reply from @unknown: The "Assignee" and "Priority" fields are not used for Bedrock Edition reports because the Bedrock developers use an internal system for storing that information. You can see that an internal report exists when there is a number in the ADO field. Please see the Bug Tracker Guidelines.

I have been having this issue since 1.17 when it occurred intermittently.
Since 1.18 everything disappears off the sign within a second of placing. Even if its just 1 letter. All players on the realm are experiencing this issue who play everything from ios to playstation to xbox one. This is an extremely frustrating bug which I hope is fixed soon.

Hey guys. Just wanted to address the complaints that this bug makes the game “unplayable” or makes it “impossible to communicate” with others on a realm. While this isn’t entirely fair or true, in my opinion, there are some (more expensive) workarounds if a sign-based communication style is critical to your group as a temporary measure while the Bedrock team works on fixing this bug.
1. You can enchant items in an anvil and display them on item frames. I actually like this better than signs because the text will float on screen for someone walking nearby, which makes it even more visible. (There is (was?) a bug that affects enchanting items on an anvil that makes it harder to do so, but the workaround for that is to place an item into both slots of the anvil, rename the item on the left, then remove the item on the right, and then the renamed item can be removed from the far right.)
2. For longer messages, you can use a book and quill. A book and quill can be displayed on a lectern or item frame, and you can also combine this trick with the above so that the book will catch the eye of a passerby when displayed with an item frame. Also great because—as long as you don’t sign it—a book and quill can also be written in by others.
Hope this information helps. Please remember to only post information about how to reliably recreate this bug or other new information you don’t see posted in the thread that you think might help the team to solve the issue.
Good luck Bedrock team!

Bug tracking update.
Snakedad has some "workarounds".
Enchanting items doesn't work, which has been suggested a few times. Although some comments seem to be missing from last time I checked in. The item once enchanted with a name, comes out of the anvil as if it's worked, then snaps back into place as if it reverses the process. Doing this normally or with a second item in slot 2 also doesn't effect the outcome.
Book and quill also, does not work.
Would love to see these work on your end as myself or anyone on the 5 different realm servers I'm on cant get these to register any text or communications. If possible can anyone upload a video of them doing this in current version?
I'll get a video of the anvil reversal and the book, quill not registering aswell. Not sure best way to record that but I'll sort it.

In terms of workarounds, in our realm the only partial workaround for being able to enter any text in the game is using the "/me " or "/say " in game chat that sometimes allows a restricted subgroup of other players to see the typed text. All other forms of typing messages as observed above fail and reset within a second, that includes books, signs, renaming and naming via anvils, posting to notice/message board and general chat outside of using /me or /say.

Hey gang,
There’s been some conflicting experiences shared in the thread about potential workarounds, so I’ve returned with some proof of my Realm’s experience with use of some of them. Because some folks have stated that these workarounds are also bugged when they’ve attempted them, my hope is that sharing some information about my Realm where they’ve been successful will help the Bedrock bug team determine what makes my Realm special. I can share that my Realm is a 3-person world using seed 828385072. The world size is currently 38.79 MB. I can also supply a world download upon request.
The first pic attached is of a piece of cobblestone I renamed at an anvil to hang above our door on an invisible item frame. The only mod used here is a texture pack that makes glow item frames invisible. Both of my friends on the Realm have claimed they can see the text when they’re playing. This proves both in part that items can be renamed at an anvil and in full that members of my Realm other than myself can see the text.
The second pic is of a sign that my friend wrote and hung. I was not there when he made the sign, but I saw it when I logged on next. This proves that others besides the author of the text can see sign text in my Realm. I have also witnessed other temporary sign text being created and finalized by others. Additionally, I’ve placed informational signage around the Realm. I’ll see if I can get confirmation from my Realm members that they’ve seen the text, but it would seem to me that they’ve seen the signs.
Lastly, I’ve linked to a short clip of me using an anvil to rename a stone sword. In a previous post, I advised others that—if they’re not able to remove the renamed item from the anvil after choosing the text for the new name—they should place a different item into the second slot and that that should allow them to take the renamed item out of the anvil. This was an old workaround that someone said doesn’t work anymore. As you can see in the video, I don’t even need to implement that trick. I just place a stone sword into the anvil, rename it, and remove it, just like normal. This proves that I can rename items for the purpose of hanging them as informative/communicative text in my Realm.
I believe we do still have unresolved issues with chat on my Realm. Occasionally, someone will forget there’s an issue and say something into the chat that appears immediately—for instance, the other day, one of my Realm members said “Be back” and then immediately logged off. I have not tested the /me or /say commands, but if I get a chance, I will and will report back.
I’ve also not tested the book and quill workaround in a while, but someone said that it “also does not work.” Not sure how or in what way it does not work for that person, but I’ve had success with this in the past on a different Realm. I’ll test it out when I get a chance and report back with my findings.

Still a problem in 1.18.30

i can confim this is still a problem in 1.18.30

I might have some information regarding this problem. I'm making an adventure map and using signs to label the functionality of command blocks. At some point, when I logged back into the java realm I was working on, all of the sign text was no longer visible on the signs I had placed (all, like, 300 of them). I decided to check the signs' NBT data and noticed that all of the blank signs still had the text I had typed into them saved in their string variables. What was more peculiar was that they had another set of variables labeled FilteredText1-4 (normally there is only Text1-4). After deleting the FilteredText1 variable, line 1 of the sign I was checking was once again visible. Deleting the other FilteredText variables granted visibility to the other lines. I'm not sure why, but every sign I had put down was given these FilteredText variables, and I can only view my signs by clearing those variables with commands. So, the main cause is a mystery to me, but I found part of the issue. Here are the steps (for java minecraft) that will let you get the NBT data of a sign, and also delete its FilteredText variables (you will need cheats [a.k.a. operator status] enabled):
Look at the sign
type (or paste, while replacing the x, y, and z with the block's coordinates, which you can use the tab key to auto fill):
/data get block x-location y-location z-location
After pressing enter, you should see your old text (for signs) stored in the form: Text1: '{"text":"your old line 1 text here"}',Text2: '{"text":"line 2"}',Text3: '{"text":"line 3"}',Text4: '{"text":"line 4"}'
You should also see a FilteredText1:'{"text":""}' or other similar variables, depending on the sign and what lines you have written.
After confirming that this/these variable(s) is/are in your sign's data, you can delete it/them by typing (or pasting in the chat):
/data merge block x-location y-location z-location {FilteredText1:{},FilteredText2:{},FilteredText3:{},FilteredText4:{}}
or you can type (for each FilteredText1-4 replace #):
/data remove block x-location y-location z-location FilteredText#
you'll have to run the one on line 3 for each FilteredText variable. The line 3 one also works for getting rid of book's filtered_pages.
After running the command on step 5, if your sign's text is back, then the new FilteredText variables were the cause of your issue.
For some reason, the new signs I place do not add any text I put in them into their variables when first placing them. You can still edit sign text by using the command:
/data merge block x y z {Text1:'
{"text":"type line 1 here"}
',Text2:'{"text":"type line 2 here"}',Text3:'{"text":"type line 3 here"}',Text4:'{"text":"type line 4 here"}'}
Of course, replace the x y and z with block coordinates. This is a pain to do every time you want to edit text, but it's something until the Minecraft team get their act together. C'mon Mojang, or Microsoft, or whoever. What, did you all finally decide to just censor EVERYTHING in Minecraft? Just give us a toggle option for Realms. Lo and behold, kids are not the only ones who play this game.

> Note that issues with Java Realms are tracked separately from Bedrock Realms
okay, so is there a Java Edition bugreport for this yet? if so, you should probably link it in the notice.
If not, I'll make one myself, as I've encountered this issue, too.
EDIT: found it, it's funnily enough 1k above this one: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/REALMS-10191

This appears to got fixed for me today, anyone else? I still had blank signs, but I knocked it down typed a new one and it worked.

Nope. Just tested. Still broken. Still Australia, bedrock edition, realms plus subscription.

REALMS-8717 is a very early version of this issue where only a certain character would cause all the text to disappear. In my case, whenever I typed an uppercase C onto a sign, all the text would disappear. My report actually predates this report by nearly 2 months. It was created on August 8, 2021 while this report was created on October 1, 2021.
Here's a timeline of events from my perspective
Early August 2021: Typing an uppercase C would cause the text to disappear
Late September 2021: Dyes started to make the text disappear when used
Early-Mid October 2021: Ink sacks started suffering the same issue as dyes
Mid November 2021: Text would disappear when exiting and rejoining the realm
December 2021: Text would disappear immediately after placing the sign
It seems anything text based has been affected. I'm seeing reports of similar issues with anvils, books and name tags all suffering from text related issues.

The text almost always immediately disappears after the sign is placed. But, when it sticks it will work normally for a while for additional signs and renamings.

Environment:
also affects windows 11 and android

This also seems to affect Bedrock 1.18.3 on servers. The sign appears to have text to the author, but then the text disappears. The server sees no text on the sign.
As far as I know, this issue doesn't affect Bedrock 1.18.2 (on servers at least).

I was able to find a workaround by quickly typing a single letter when the On-screen keyboard popped up, and quickly pressing B (On Xbox). This was after several attempts at creating signs where the text would disappear. After typing "Y", that sign and the future Signs/Name Tags ended up working. It may or may not be reproducible - I will comment further with findings.
Seems like really the only reliable work around is luck and brute force. Just keep spamming signs with a single letter until one of them sticks. You'll have a window of time to place more until you get the privilege taken away XD.

Seems to be resolved on my Realm, however - do not want to celebrate too early as it could just be a side effect of the Realm server being restarted for the in place upgrade to 1.19. It could also still affect other users, regardless it's good to hope that it is resolved after 8 months of waiting.

I don’t want to get too excited but… As of 1.19 this issue is resolved on our Realm.

Guy Bechter: I have removed your attachment. Please do not put personally identifying information on the bug tracker.

Just wanted to say that all functions of signs are still functioning correctly in my realm. So far so good

Working on the realm for bedrock as of 1.19 update thank you.

Thanks for fixing in 1.19!!!
I have tested renaming items in anvil, placing signs and renaming maps. All work now!

I wouldn't get too excited. My signs have started breaking whenever I type the letter M. See the attachment for a video of my issue
[media]
I have been trying to type in a sign for 5 minutes now and can only get some text to work. "DROP BLOCKS IN 2ND VILLAGER. NOT PLACE \/\/\/\/\/" This text does not work in my sign... Its like the game thinks I'm typing something bad.
Edit: I'm not allowed to say "PLACE" with all capitols.
Edit 2: I cant say anything now. /say command hashtags everything. I'm on my realm, I have a couple of mods and all experimental features enabled. Education edition is disabled.
Edit: I've tested this on my downloaded realm world. Naming/typing in anything that stores text works as it should, but on my realm and a friends realm, doing those things makes the text disappear or have hashtags. I really need command blocks to work on my realm. it is so hard to manage when nothing saves in a command block.

i'm having the same problem 😞 like i just was building my burger shop & it suddenly stop working

I have found that this issue is also happening with books and quills deleting the first 5 pages of text. As of now, I can't type anything in signs without it deleting it so it seems the issue has worsened because as before adding a period would sometimes fix it.

Was building a train station and tried to place a sign but the pre 1.19 issue has sadly returned. Text disappearing after typing the sign.

I was trying to build my Villager Trading Hall today and I'm just trying to type UNBREAKING III, SHARPNESS V, etc. on the signs but the text just keeps disappearing. I saw someone else comment that you should just name the books in the anvil to be placed in an item frame instead of a sign but I tried that and it is broken as well, all I can see after typing MENDING I is "#########" like its profanity. Wtf is this and after reading through all the comments and seeing no resolve or response is absolutely disgusting since its been up since Oct 2021. And there is almost no way i'd be able to replicate the issue since I've done nothing I haven't done before, I already had the Villager trading hall close to my house but had to move it because the villagers kept locking on to the wrong station. So I'm doing the exact same thing I've done in the past but just today it starts getting screwy.

I have been placing a sign with the same text for a few minutes and it kept ending out blank. I was trying to put a sign to show that it was my house, but it kept turning out blank. Even tried using copy and paste.

We as a family are currently experiencing this issue. Specifically our two players on bedrock that use the Nintendo Switch version are unable to write messages on Signs
Our users that use PCs are able to do all of the above successfully. Thanks!

I cannot add text on PC or PlayStation version, unlike others who can do one or the other. I’d really appreciate it if this problem was fixed ASAP

Same issue - all signs are blank and anything renamed is all hashtags. I received a message stating that I had been temporarily muted, but I hadn't typed anything remotely offensive. I had made some signs with hashtags on them to denote numbers (as in #1, #2, #3, etc.) right before this all happened. Please let me know how to resolve this issue. Thank you!

Coming across the same thing. Trying to place signs with a single number on them for an inn ( " 1 ", " 2 " etc) and the number just disappears when I exit the editing interface.

I am also having this issue: it used to happen now and again, and often when breaking and replacing the sign the text would work second or third time. But now it’s happening with every new sign, every place, every time, and I ultimately cannot use new signs at all. The text appears on the sign for around one second before becoming permanently invisible. Hoping for a fix soon!

I'm having this problem on my realm with the Windows version of Minecraft. However, it also began at the same time as issues with trying to rename a fishing rod and the name becoming all #####. Which makes me wonder if the two issues are related and actually one bug instead of two. Didn't have an issue with signs until after trying to rename an item with the anvil and after that I haven't been able to place a sign with text.
Update: This is only happening when playing on the realm, it does not happen in a saved creative world.

With me, I haven't received any message about being muted for anything. The glitch just reappeared out of the blue.
I do know that even though the text disappears, the NBT data for the sign is still written to the save file as the game is able to read it when you do Control + Middle Click to pick a block with it's NBT data.

Is anyone else having this issue on a java realm? (I am)

I actually had this issue whilst playing the Realm on a Windows PC, however after joining the same realm on a different platform, it seems to have fixed the glitch on both platforms permanently. Doing this also fixed the glitch with item or mob names becoming "#####" (REALMS-10537) and with other players not seeing my text chat.

The issue seems to have been fixed in 1.19.20 however like with previous updates, it could just be a result of the Realm server restarting so there is still a potential for it to return. Fingers crossed that it's actually been fixed this time!

I don't think its gone. It just happened to me like 20 minutes ago. I was trying to type C1 and D1, but it kept disappearing until the 8th try.
As of 1.19.51, command blocks are also not saving data/text again.

It looks like the glitch is sadly beginning to creep back in. I tried to type a sign with E2 on it and the text disappeared.
It seems like the glitch is being caused by specific combinations of capitalised letters that are followed by a number.
C1, C3, D1 & E2 are combos currently known to cause the glitch.

My sign text is disappearing with or without numbers being included in the text.

The issue is still occurring in update 1.19.50

Problem still occurring in 1.19.50. For us, text that includes apostrophes, parenthesis, other punctuation, some misspelled words, or some incorrect plurals disappears when we exit the Realm and re-enter. For example, the text "Melissa's Magik" will disappear (because of the apostrophe). "Melissas Magik" will disappear (because of the misspelled word Melissas). "Magik" by itself will disappear. "Melissa Magic" does not disappear.

An issue with Glow Ink Sacks has started to reappear in my world. Using the Ink Sack on the sign sometimes causes the text to disappear. It's very hit or miss and my particular issue occurs at random. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.
Oddly, the issue with Dyes causing signs to blank out is not present this time and normal signs with the default black coloured text can still be placed without issue

My occurrence of this issue doesn't appear to be linked with the text in the sign specifically. I have an old sign with the same text in which has never disaapeared.
In this case the text is "Blast Protection IV" – its labelling a wall of barrels with books stored in them.
[media]In image here i add a new sign (no glow ink at this time has been used).
Then on relog and go back to same location:
[media]
Whereas pre-existing sign (added some revisions ago - sorry not sure when):
[media]As you can see that sign has not been erased. Just the newer one has been erased.

I have the same issue but the text only disappears on line 3 and 4. The top 2 lines work fine but not the bottom 2 is broken.

Hello, same problem here, lines 3 and 4 disappears from the newest signs.
The old one keep their text, and if I copy an old one it has its 4 lines ok.
Any new sign however, will lose lines 3 and 4. No problem on lines 1 and 2.

Not sure if it is the same bug or a different bug, but color of the signs also reset. Sometimes signs dyed with a color and a glow ink become non-glowing (keeping the dye) or loosing both the dye color and the glow

Still happens in 1.19.62

It's happening again. Xbox One, realms. I've written this sign 3 times. The first time it was all hash tags. Figured there was too much text per line. Now it's just blank after two more tries. And weirdly if I move the sign to a different spot it's fine. Deja vu.

Occurs very often on 1.19.73. The text only appears if you play on the same device. For example, If my friend makes a sign on PC, I can read it on PC. The same sign is missing text on console (Xbox one and PS4) and mobile. If I make a sign on console, the text is missing to all players on PC. If I make a sign on PC, only PC players can read it.

Some duplicate reports mention books are affected as well, changed title accordingly.

Have yet to spot any issues in 1.19.83 although I did find a few signs that reset to the default black coloured text with no glow. (This likely happened when I was having a break so therefore occurred in an earlier 1.19 Hotfix.)
Was able to place, type, colour and dye a bunch of crimson signs with glowing blue text and had no issues.

new info? This problem is still occurring in 1.20.

It still occures on our new realm. This problem seems to be existing for years... I hope, it will be solved.

One more data point. I'm having the same issue: I tried to enter the following text onto a sign...
T H E B I G D I G
Please don't dig
for now.
Danger abounds!
As soon as I click "Done", the first line disappears. I can type 4 characters on the first line and they'll stay, but a 5th character causes the first line to disappear. Correction: I can type as much as I want, but as soon as "Big" is on the line, adding a "D" causes the line to lose its text. I'm now assuming this is a malfunctioning "bad language" filter.
We believe this issue is now fixed, so will be resolving this issue. If you have any ongoing issues, please log them in a new ticket with steps to reproduce the problem so that it can be tracked and fixed accordingly.
