After my tests, even if "Force use of Unicode fonts" is enabled, severe performance issues still occur—they’re just not as obvious as when it’s disabled.

The driver has been updated to version 591.44, with a GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. In the vanilla game (without any mods, resource packs, or data packs), with unlimited frame rate set and VSync disabled, the frame rate stabilizes at 700-800 FPS, and reaches 1100-1200 FPS in the Void.

However, the issue where glowing signs cause a drastic drop in frame rate still persists.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Disable "Force use of Unicode fonts"

  2. Place a sign and write random text (including Chinese characters) on it

  3. Use a glow ink sac on the sign

  4. Press Ctrl + middle mouse button to pick up the sign and place it anywhere

Expected result:

There should be no performance issues

Actual result:

Severe drop in frame rate

How come this was this marked as resolved? I can confirm it’s still happening in 1.21.5.

I just ran into this while working on a mod and at first I thought it was my fault, but it turns out that this is (still) just the current vanilla behaviour.

This is not resolved. My old world was called ‘Tallet’s Castle’. We created a new world called my world 2 days ago since the old world was removed. Should I create a new ticket.

Ilmango's comment is all well and good, but I can't find a link or a working solution to the problem.
Ilmango assumes a large number of Furnaces, but for smaller Furnance arryas like with 8 Furnaces I have not found a solution.

the moderators keep deleting my replies. the input delay issue is clearly related to vsync but has become more noticeable in renderdragon versions. there needs to be an option to toggle off vsync in the game to truly fix the input delay.

Confirmed for 1.16.3

Don't update to this snapshot if you have the option, and if you have updated, I would recommend just living with it until its fixed, unless you want to deal with the chunk errors of moving back an update.

Me too annoying as I’m half was through building on the plus side I can get some work done and don’t stay up till stupid a clock but want to get back at it now

@violine1101 appearently the information on MC Wiki was wrong. First, I tried it with lapis, but that didn't work. With blue dye, I was able to craft the star. Thank, I will try to change the info on the wiki.

Please close this one

i was able to create a similar bug report under minecraft consile for playstation4

Yes this also happens in 1.14.4, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card and an intel core i7 Processor

Yes. You need an iron pick axe to mine those ores.

You should have made a backup for that reason.

Minecraft: 1.14.3

I'm using a Xeon x5670 (6c/12t) @ 4.0Ghz, 24gb ddr3 1600 mhz. and i'm getting 20-25% cpu usage with the server idle, and at least 50% usage with a single user online, and it hiccups every few minutes with 2 users.  I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, using MineOS to manage the server (bare metal, not a vm, or under esxi, etc)  I have 8gb assigned to the java instance running the server.
